Chicagoan behind 'India's 9-11' cooperated with authorities

 

Federal prosecutors in Chicago said they will ask that David Headley be sentenced to between 30 and 35 years in prison for his role in the 2008 Mumbai Massacre.

The government is not pressing for Headley to serve the maximum, life sentence.

Headley's different colored eyes are a fitting symbol of the double-agent role he has played for years.

He worked as an operative for Pakistani extremists and as an FBI informant and government witness.

Headley will be sentenced on Thursday.

We know the value of his cooperation as federal prosecutors have just filed papers laying out how long the terrorist should spend behind bars.

The horrific attack has become known as "India's 9-11".

The chief scout who did reconnaissance on each location for Pakistani terrorists was Chicago resident Headley.

According to a sentencing memorandum filed late Tuesday by federal prosecutors in Chicago, "Headley played an essential role in the planning" and "contributed to the deaths of approximately 164 men, women, and children, and injuries to hundreds more."

There were six Americans killed in the November 2008 attacks.

For Headley, who was taken into custody by the FBI in Chicago in 2009, "there is little question that life imprisonment would be an appropriate punishment."

But from the moment of his arrest, Headley began cooperating, according to the government.

Headley-Rana: Cover-Up Of An Iceberg – Analysis

Tahawur Hussain Rana, of the Chicago cell of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LET) and the principal accomplice of David Coleman Headley, has already been sentenced by a Chicago court to 14 years in prison for his association with Headley and the LET in the abandoned plans to blow up the office of a Danish newspaper in Copenhagen which had published caricatures of the Holy Prophet.

Curiously, he has not been convicted for his role in the Mumbai blasts of 26/11 despite the fact that he had facilitated the frequent visits of Headley to India at the instance of the LET to collect operational intelligence and, according to his admission, was aware of the impending terrorist strikes in Mumbai even though had no role in it. According to him, a retired Pakistani Army officer told him of the impending strike during a meeting in Dubai before he flew to China on his way back to Chicago.

India – United States Relations

This was sufficiently strong evidence for convicting him as an accomplice before the act, but this aspect seems to have been ignored by the prosecution and the court. This could open the door for the Government of India moving for his extradition since the bar of double jeopardy may not be attracted. Under this, a person cannot be convicted twice for the same offence.

Even though officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have been quoted in sections of the media as saying that they would move for his extradition, I have doubts whether any serious efforts would be made by the NIA to get him to India.

Headley is to be sentenced for his involvement in the Mumbai and Copenhagen cases and his co-operation with the LET and suspected officers of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) by a Chicago court on January 24, 2013. Since his trial is based on a plea bargain with the USA’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on the basis of his total confession, the FBI has not sought the death sentence for him. The FBI has also reportedly made a commitment that he will not be extradited to India. He is, therefore, expected to be sentenced to a prison term likely to be more than that awarded to Rana.

Headley and Rana were the tip of the Chicago iceberg of the LET which facilitated the 26/11 terrorist strikes in Mumbai by the LET and ISI masterminds in Pakistan. The FBI and the NIA, whose officials were allowed by the FBI to question Headley in FBI custody, were able to collect details regarding the Pakistani links of Headley and Rana.

The hidden iceberg itself consisted of the contacts of Headley and Rana in the Indian Muslim community who facilitated their frequent clandestine travels to India for helping the LET leaders in Pakistan and the ISI in planning and executing the 26/11 strikes. Surprisingly, neither in the narrative of the FBI nor in that of the NIA is there much reference to the Indian cells of Headley and Rana. No attempt has been made to identify them and question them.

Moreover, the FBI, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and other agencies have not fully explained the extent of Headley's work as a DEA informant, especially in 2001 when he began gathering intelligence on Islamic extremists as well as drug traffickers.

The DEA says he was deactivated as an informant in early 2002 as he began training with Lashkar. Other U.S. agencies say he remained a DEA informant in some capacity until at least 2005. And Indian officials allege that he remained a U.S. agent later than that.

Finally, authorities have not explained why it took almost a year to arrest Headley after the Mumbai attacks. Days after, an associate of Headley's mother came forward to tell FBI agents in Philadelphia she believed he was involved with Lashkar, the group behind the assault.

The FBI has admitted that agents then discovered that Headley had been the subject of repeated previous allegations of terrorism involvement. Nonetheless, agents failed to find Headley in Chicago, and he returned to India and Europe for new terrorist reconnaissance.

It took the FBI until July of 2009, when British intelligence detected him meeting with al Qaeda operatives, to locate Headley and begin surveillance, according to U.S. officials.

"It is baffling to me that he was not interviewed sooner, especially post-Mumbai," said Charles Swift, a lawyer for Rana who specializes in terror cases.

This whole terrorism thing that taxpayer funded FBI  agents created to replace communism is working out
pretty good for the FBI.
The FBI  budget has now tripled to over $4 BILLION dollars since 911 and it's staff has almost doubled.
The backstory is during the 1990's evidence surfaced that FBI  agents had assassinated President Kennedy and Martin Luther King;
that FBI  agents created the 1993 1st World Trade Center bombing and Oklahoma City bombing; that FBI  agents
had collaborated with the Mafia to destroy American Unions; that FBI  Director J Edgar Hoover was a pedophile........
When 911 was created by the FBI  attention was diverted from the FBI, eh?

CAIR: Muslim Group Seeks DOJ Probe of FBI 'Retaliation' in Minnesota

WASHINGTON, Feb. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate an apparent act of retaliation against a local community leader by FBI agents at the Minnesota field office.

CAIR says the alleged retaliation, in the form of an FBI visit to the home of the director of the civil rights group's Minnesota chapter Lori Saroya, followed just two business days after public disclosure by that chapter of an FBI investigation into alleged intimidation tactics used on a local Somali Muslim by two agents.

In a letter to Attorney General Holder, CAIR National Legal Director Nadhira Al-Khalili wrote in part:

"[The FBI agent] later informed CAIR-MN's Civil Rights Director that the purpose of the visit was 'community outreach.' However, upon knowledge and belief, no other neighboring homes were visited during this community outreach effort.

"When CAIR-MN's [attorney] later called [the agent] and asked if he was assigned to the division's community outreach program, [the agent] responded that he was not and stated that he is a field law enforcement agent who wanted to speak to a member of Ms. Saroya's household for a 'meet and greet.'

"The FBI has a well-documented history of using community outreach methods as a means to coerce, threaten and intimidate members of the Muslim community. Given the above facts, it is difficult for us to reach any conclusion other than that [the agent's] visit was prompted by what the field office may have perceived as negative media attention. Further, we believe reasonable people can conclude the visit was an attempt to intimidate a highly-regarded community leader."

Is Copyright Infringement Now Seen As Terrorism? Government Uses Law As a Sword Against Dissent


We reported last year:

The government treats copyright infringers as terrorists, and swat teams have been deployed against them. See thisthisthis and this.

As the executive director of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School notes:

This administration … publishes a newsletter about its efforts with language that compares copyright infringement to terrorism.

The American government is using copyright laws to crack down on political dissent just like China and Russia.

We noted last month that the “cyber-security” laws have very little to do with security.

The Verge reported last month:

In the State of the Union address Tuesday, President Obama announced a sweepingexecutive order implementing new national cybersecurity measures, opening the door for intelligence agencies to share more information about suspected “cyber threats” with private companies that oversee the nation’s “critical infrastructure.” The order is voluntary, giving companies the choice of whether or not they want to receive the information, and takes effect in four months, by June 12.

“Cyber threats cover a wide range of malicious activity that can occur through cyberspace,” wrote Caitlin Hayden, spokeswoman for the White House National Security Council, in an email to The Verge. “Such threats include web site defacement, espionage,theft of intellectual property, denial of service attacks, and destructive malware.”

“The EO [executive order] relies on the definition of critical infrastructure found in the Homeland Security Act of 2002,” Hayden wrote.

The Homeland Security Act of 2002 (PDF), passed in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, was what created the Department of Homeland Security. At that time, the US was still reeling from the attacks and Congress sought to rapidly bolster the nation’s defenses, including “critical infrastructure” as part of its definition of “terrorism.” As the act states: “The term ‘terrorism’ means any activity that involves an act that is dangerous to human life or potentially destructive of critical infrastructure or key resources…”

But again, that act doesn’t exactly spell out which infrastructure is considered “critical,” instead pointing to the definition as outlined in a 2001 bill, also passed in response to September 11, which reads:

“The term “critical infrastructure” means systems and assets, whether physical or virtual, so vital to the United States that the incapacity or destruction of such systems and assets would have a debilitating impact on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination of those matters.”

This is the same exact definition that was originally provided in the president’s cybersecurity order as originally published on Tuesday, meaning that the White House appears to be relying to some degree on circular reasoning when it comes to that definition. Some in Washington, including the right-leaning think tank The Heritage Foundation, are worried that the definition is too broad and “could be understood to include systems normally considered outside the cybersecurity conversation, such as agriculture.”

In fact, the Department of Homeland Security, which is one of the agencies that will be sharing information on cyber threats thanks to the order, includes 18 different industriesin its own label of “critical infrastructure,” from agriculture to banking to national monuments. There’s an argument to be made that including such a broad and diverse swath of industries under the blanket term “critical” is reasonable given the overall increasing dependence of virtually all businesses on the internet for core functions. But even in that case, its unclear how casting such a wide net would be helpful in defending against cyber threats, especially as there is a limited pool of those with the expertise and ability to do so.

It’s not just intellectual property.  The government is widely using anti-terror laws to help giant businesses … and to crush those who speak out against their abusive practices, labeling anyone who speaks out as a potential bad guy.

Hugo Chávez: Victim of US Germ Warfare?

Venezuela Vice-President Nicolás Maduro said on March 6th, just hours after President Hugo Chávez death, that the US might have infected their president with poisonous bacteria. He also expelled two US diplomats for planning yet another coup with rightist anti-Chávez Venezuelans. Is the current transitional president crazy, as Western elitists claim?

It is not as though the US never uses bacteriological warfare to murder, or attempt to murder its enemies—most having democratically chosen leaders—as well as spreading diseases that randomly kill or disable masses of people, kill their animals and destroy crops. Genocide!

    In July 2006, documents released by the United States government revealed that the CIA had plotted assassination. Dr. Sidney Gottlieb played a role in the CIA’s attempt to assassinate Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba of the Congo; he took a vial of poison to the Congo with plans to place it on Lumumba’s toothbrush in the summer of 1960. Gottlieb transported these ‘toxic biological materials’ to the CIA station in the Congo, though a military coup deposed the Prime Minister before agents could deliver the poison.1

“U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower had said “something [to CIA chief Allen Dulles] to the effect that Lumumba should be eliminated.” This was revealed by a declassified interview with then-US National Security Council minute keeper Robert Johnson released in August 2000 from Senate intelligence committee’s inquiry on covert action. The committee later found that while the CIA had conspired to kill Lumumba, it was not directly involved in the actual murder.”

In 1975, the Church Committee went on record with the finding that Allen Dulles had ordered Lumumba’s assassination as “an urgent and prime objective.”

“Furthermore, declassified CIA cables quoted or mentioned in the Church report and in Kalb (1972) mention two specific CIA plots to murder Lumumba: the poison plot and a shooting plot Although some sources claim that CIA plots ended when Lumumba was captured, that is not stated or shown in the CIA records.”2

In Counterpunch’s story “CIA’s Sidney Gottlieb: Pusher, Assassin & Pimp: US Official Poisoner Dies,” it is stated:

    By the early 1960s Gottlieb’s techniques and potions were being fully deployed in the field. Well-known is Gottlieb’s journey to the Congo, where his little black bag held an Agency-developed biotoxin scheduled for Patrice Lumumba’s toothbrush. He also tried to manage Iraq’s general Kassim with a handkerchief doctored with botulinum and there were the endless poisons directed at Fidel Castro, from the LSD the Agency wanted to spray in his radio booth to the poisonous fountain pen intended for Castro that was handed by a CIA man to Rolando Cubela on November 22, 1963. [A poisoned cigar was another of hundreds of plots to murder Fidel Castro.]

In my book, Backfire: The CIA’s Biggest Burn, I reported how Cubela, a Cuban CIA agent, was handed “a ball-point pen fitted with a fine hypodermic needle that a victim could not feel upon penetration of his skin. Cubela was to use a lethal poison, Blackleaf-40” to murder Fidel Castro.

Cubela met in Paris with his handler, CIA’s Cuba project task force chief, Desmond Fitzgerald. At the close of this meeting, the assassins learned that President Kennedy had been murdered that same day. It has been well exposed that the CIA was one of three groups that murdered Kennedy, the same groups which on several occasions tried to murder Fidel. The others were the Mafia, kicked out of Cuban black profiteering operations by Fidel, and disgruntled Cuban exiles in the US.

Cubela was later captured through information obtained by Cuba’s counter-intelligence agency. Cubela’s code name for the CIA was AM/LASH. He admitted his role in assassination attempts and received 15 years imprisonment. In part of testimony, he asserted that he arrived in Cuba with a new plan to “shoot Premier Castro with a high-powered telescopic rifle and later share in top posts of a counter-revolutionary regime.”

Iraq’s Kassin must be eliminated

The CIA attempted to assassinate General Abd al-Karim Kassin following a 1958 anti-monarchy coup he led against King Faisal 11. The US viewed the king as an important ally, and once Kassim became prime minister the US sought to assassinate him using a Gottlieb plan with a poisoned handkerchief. Among Kassin’s “crimes” was support for the Algerian and Palestinian against France and Israel.

Kassin’s policies included many that Hugo Chávez undertook, such as land reform introduced to benefit small farmers. Education and social welfare were increased for ordinary people. Women were granted greater equal rights. Kassin, like Chávez, especially irritated US corporations and their governments by nationalizing oil for greater national income and widespread distribution.

In September 1960, Prime Minister Kassin demanded that the Anglo American-owned Iraqi Petroleum Company (IPC) “share 20% of the ownership and 55% of the profits with the Iraqi government. Then, in response to the IPC’s rejection of this proposal, Kassin issued Public Law 80, which would have taken away 99.5% of the IPC’s ownership and established an Iraqi national oil company to oversee the export of Iraqi oil. British and US officials and multinationals demanded that the Kennedy administration place pressures on the Qasim regime.”3

While the CIA did not succeed in murdering Kassin, they aided national efforts to overthrow him. Ironically, one of the leaders was Saddam Hussein—“the Ba’ath Party leadership was planning to assassinate Qasim. Saddam Hussein was a leading member of the operation.”3 After invading Iraq, in 2003, the US eventually captured Hussein and had him hung.

CIA Bacteriological warfare against Fidel and Cubans at random

In 1987-8 I interviewed many Cubans, and a Frenchman living in Cuba, who had been recruited by the CIA to spy on Cuba’s government and to carry out sabotage, including attempts to assassinate President Fidel Castro. Some of the plans and attempts included poisons and bacteriological warfare. The CIA spread various diseases, some by using infected birds and weather manipulation, which resulted in the random murder of hundreds of ordinary people, destroyed massive crops, and caused the death of hundreds of thousands of animals, especially pigs and turkeys.

In Cuba, I was allowed access to CIA-introduced spying apparatuses. I saw secret messages that the CIA sent to its supposed Cuban spies. Cuba’s intelligence service followed CIA agents, working in the US Interests Section in Havana, whom they photographed and even recorded when meeting with their assumed agents. These moles were able to divert many murderous planned attacks on the people, on their animals and crops, and on the life of Fidel.

Cuba’s government presented its knowledge beginning on July 6, 1987. The stories of 27 double-agents were broadcast on television. I soon began my research and interviews. My book, Backfire, was published by Cuba’s foreign publishing house, Editorial José Martí, in 1991. Here are some excerpts:

Backfire: The CIA’s Biggest Burn

backfire_DV“The Senate Committee to Study Government Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities held hearings in September 1975 into CIA usage of poison dart guns, manufacture and storage of diverse lethal toxins, and the destruction of records of their venomous activities.

“DCI William Colby testified but would not explain why his Company had secretly kept 10.9 grams of lethal shellfish toxin—a much larger amount than needed for experiments—as part of a poison project known by the code name MK Naomi.

“Colby also demonstrated the use of a black pistol with telescopic sight, which could shoot poison darts accurately at a distance of about 100 meters…he admitted the weapon was designed to kill an enemy silently without leaving a trace.”

The Los Angeles Times wrote, on September 22, 1975, congress had acquired evidence “that CIA poison capsules figured in an abortive plot to kill Cuban Prime Minister Fidel Castro in 1960 or 1961. Similar pills were forwarded to an African agent about this time for use against the late Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba.”

Fisherman Juan Luis Acosta Guzmán was the first of the 27 double agents to come out of the cold, in 1987. The CIA gave him the code name Àngel. He was known as Mateo by Cuban intelligence.

On Cuban TV, Acosta said:

    I had two friends who worked on boats used by Cuban leaders for fishing and diversion…The CIA wanted me to get a job on these boats. They told me I’d receive all the money I wanted, and all their assistance, if I could help with this very, very special project. They thought they could produce a sickness in Fidel that would kill him slowly, leaving no trace.

    CIA officer Rudy Herrera talked to me about this in Las Palmas, in April 1985. ‘Look, we are most interested in eliminating Fidel. We win 90% of the battle against Cuba by eliminating him.’

The CIA “wanted me to get on a boat that took our Commander-in-Chief out fishing and skin diving. They wanted a man who could throw something in the water near Fidel. Later, he could become unnoticeably sick, and die in two or three years. So that was my task.”

“When Rudy Herrera and I finished our talk, he raised his glass in a toast. ‘Let us toast now for the next time we meet when we can toast to the non-existence of Fidel Castro.’”

While the CIA failed in its hundreds of plans and attempts to “eliminate” Fidel, it was more successful in murdering ordinary people, animals and crops.

“Dengue fever type 2 broke out in Cuba two months after this CIA message was sent, on February 16, 1981, to María Santiesteban Loureiro, agent Regina to the CIA”; agent Any to Cuba’s intelligence service.

This dengue fever type, and type 1 infiltrated earlier, killed 158 persons, including 101 children, before they could be controlled.
“On April 6, 1981, agent Regina received another message asking about infectious diseases, including hemorrhagic conjunctivitis. By September, 143,643 people were sick…within two months, 600,000 cases were treated.”

Over one million cases of conjunctivitis, one tenth the population, had been affected by the eye disease before Cuba could eliminate the disease. The CIA repeatedly told its agents, many of them working for Cuba clandestinely, to obtain all possible information about its effects and if treatment was effective or not.

Authors Warren Hinckle and William Turner (a former FBI officer) wrote in The Fish is Red about the CIA’s “nefarious list of subversive techniques biological and weather warfare.”

The CIA was able to destabilize Cuba’s food crops in 1969-70 with futuristic weather modification. Planes from the China Lake Naval Weapons Center, in the California desert flew over Cuba “seeding rain clouds with crystals that precipitated torrential rains over non-agricultural areas and left cane fields arid,” Hinckle-Turner wrote. Killer flash floods were the result in some areas causing crucial export income losses.

Sudden outbreaks of sogata rice blight occurred in 1971; African swine fever (1971 and 1979), sugar cane rust and smut (1978-9), blue tobacco mold (1979), Newcastle disease that killed at least 8000 turkeys (1962 and 1982), and coffee smut (1983). These diseases caused serious loss of thousands of hectares of farm land. The blue mold losses alone were over $250 million.

The way these diseases spread was atypical, and several had never appeared in Cuba before. CIA case officers asked their Cuban agents about these diseases, sometimes even before they appeared. Cuban intelligence could record 200 such inquiries just between 1980 and 1986.

Sugar industry advisor Orlando Argudín López, one of the 27 moles, was told by his CIA handler, Bernardo, in Paris, in May 1979, that the CIA was introducing diseases to affect people and animals.

“Bernardo assured me he was optimistic about the results,” Argudín told Cuban news bureau National Information Service (AIN). On other occasions, Argudín was asked about sugarcane blights, smut and rust.

Cuba’s dean of double agents, Ignacio Rodríguez-Mena, a Cuban Airlines chief steward and instructor and a former professional baseball player for the Washington Senators, told me that the CIA was keen for him to assess damage done by plagues, and about the state of Fidel’s health.

“My handler, Nicolás, asked me in Madrid’s Hotel Sideral to get close to places where I could plant a virus. They asked me if we carried pesticides or other chemicals on our flights, which could combat the germ carrying mosquitoes” and how Cuba combated swine fever. “The wanted whatever I could give them so they could trace the producer-seller of these products, in order to stop them from selling to us, or to sabotage them.

“When they found out where we bought the containers for fumigating mosquitoes that carry the dengue fever, they convinced the producer to make them without the head of the fumigator, rendering the equipment useless. How far does their arm reach?”

Some Cuban terrorists, such as Rolando Cubela, working for the CIA from Miami were involved in spreading diseases that could kill people at random. Eduardo Victor Arrocena Pérez had been head of the counterrevolutionary terrorist group, Omega 7, which the CIA funded. He was one of the few terrorists in the US actually tried for a terrorist crime, that of the assassination of Cuban diplomat Félix García, September 11, 1980, in New York City. He later admitted to more than a dozen sabotage actions in Cuba using dynamite.
At his murder trial, he testified, September 10, 1984, that the CIA had given him chemicals to be introduced into Cuba with the objective of producing lethal sicknesses.

The 91st session of Congress, meeting in November 1969, disclosed that the US had plans to use biological warfare against the Cuban people. On September 16, 1977, the Washington Post reported that the CIA “maintained a clandestine anti-crop warfare research program targeted during the 1960s at a number of countries throughout the world.”

Former CIA officer John Stockwell, who left the CIA in 1977, wrote the book, In Search of Enemies. He was interviewed on Cuban television, September 28-9, 1987:

He said that the US had even released viruses in several US cities to observe how the population was affected. The Congress investigated the CIA’s MK Ultra program and found that the CIA leaked a virus from a ship in San Francisco to “see the impact on the population.”

“It is quite possible that the CIA was experimenting with biological warfare germs in Africa and Haiti, and the germs changed form, developing into the AIDS epidemic… AIDS is a virus similar to the one that killed your swine,” he told the Cuban people.

This account does not go into many other forms of US sabotage, assassination attempts against Fidel, and the murder of Cuban people, nor in other countries such as previously in Nicaragua and currently in Afghanistan, much of the Middle East and coming to Africa. But if the US is willing to use poisons to try to kill individual leaders they dislike in several countries, why not introduce a cancer germ into the person of their arch enemy Hugo Chávez? I Have a Dream Obama has access to genocidal bacteriological weapons.

March 9—In February 2012, Philip Marshall, a veteran airline pilot, published The Big Bamboozle: 9/11 and the War on Terror, which documents the role of Saudi Arabia in running the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and of the Bush Presidency in facilitating it by standing down. One year later, on Feb. 2, 2013, Marshall was found dead, along with his two teenage children and his dog, at his home in California.

Local police have called it a murder/suicide. But former National Security Agency officer Wayne Madsen, who spent a week at the scene investigating, says that it was a black-ops assassination, not only for what Marshall reveals in the book, but also for what he might have revealed in the future.

In addition to being an experienced pilot—Marshall had captain ratings on the Boeing 727, 737, 747, 757, and 767s—and was familiar with the training needed to fly such planes, and to carry out such manuevers as the 9/11 hijacker pilots did, Marshall had experience in a DEA sting operation against Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, and was the pilot for Barry Seal, who participated in the George H.W. Bush/Oliver North operation to arm the Contras in the 1980s.

The story that Marshall tells, although failing to identify the role of the British, corroborates in fine detail the essential features of the assessment of 9/11/2001, presented by Lyndon LaRouche at the time that the attack was occurring. Interviewed that morning on K-TALK radio from Salt Lake City, LaRouche said: "This is not some dumb guy with a turban some place in the world, trying to get revenge for what's going on in the Middle East. This is something different." LaRouche emphasized that "this is a very systematic operation ... to get that kind of thing, to snatch planes like that, that's a pretty sophisticated operation." He also stressed that "Osama bin Laden is a controlled entity. Osama bin Laden is not an independent force." In a webcast address on Jan. 3, 2001, LaRouche had warned that a terrorist incident could be used, as in the case of the Reichstag Fire, to introduce a dictatorial policy in the United States. In that webcast LaRouche said:

    "Special warfare types of the secret government, the secret police teams, will set off provocations, which will be used to bring about dictatorial powers and emotion, in the name of crisis management."

The possibility that Marshall was assassinated cannot be ruled out. In former Sen. Bob Graham's novel Keys to the Kingdom, the lead character, who is a Senator investigating 9/11, is killed. Graham was the co-chair of the Joint Congressional Inquiry into 9/11. In similar, true-life cases, Barry Seal was killed on Feb. 19, 1986, in Baton Rouge; J.H. Hatfield, author of The Fortunate Son, in which he reported that George W. Bush's "missing year" was spent in drug rehab, was also found dead, allegedly by suicide, on July 18, 2001; journalist Gary Webb, who exposed the fact that crack cocaine was being shipped to the U.S. to fund arms for the Contras, in a newspaper series entitled "Dark Alliance," allegedly committed suicide on Dec. 10, 2004; and on Feb. 19, 2005, Hunter S. Thompson also allegedly committed suicide while working on a major article on 9/11.
Bin Laden: A False Flag

In the introduction to his book, Marshall cites the fact that in the final version of the Joint Congressional Inquiry into 9/11, the indisputable evidence about the role of Saudi intelligence was redacted.

    Marshall presents evidence that bin Laden's role in 9/11 was a false flag, to cover for the fact that the funding, logistical support, tactical planning, and training of the 9/11 terrorist attack were all supplied by Saudi Arabia, whose role was covered up by blaming Osama bin Laden, who did not have the means to carry out such a sophisticated operation.

    Secondly, he demonstrates that the operation was effectively facilitated, and then exploited, by the Bush family apparatus, which effectively stood down while the attack was occurring, and ignored warnings of the impending attack.

    And thirdly, he exposes the roles in the coverup of Porter Goss, the House Chairman of the Joint Congressional Inquiry; Philip Zelikow, the director of the 9/11 Commission; and FBI Director Robert Mueller, who was appointed on Sept. 4, 2001. That coverup persists to this day.

Marshall is known to have been in contact with Bob Graham, who has demanded the declassification of the 28-page section of the 9/11 report on the Saudi role in the attack.

The book covers material already reported by EIR and LaRouchePAC from the report of the Joint Congressional Inquiry. This includes the fact that Prince Bandar's wife, the daughter of Prince Turki bin Faisal, then-head of Saudi intelligence, sent money to Saudi Intelligence agent Omar al-Bayoumi; that Bayoumi met with a member of the Saudi consulate in Los Angeles before meeting at a restaurant with the first two hijackers who came to the U.S., Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, and invited them to San Diego; that Bayoumi worked for the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority; that the two hijackers lived for a time in the home of a longtime FBI informant, whom the Joint Inquiry was prevented from interviewing. In fact, the FBI refused to serve the informant a committee subpoena.

Marshall points out that the 9/11 Commission never heard testimony from a civil aviation expert. As an expert himself, he writes that, "The flight profiles revealed that a tailored operating procedure was used to fly directly to predetermined targets, followed by a series of advanced hand-flown maneuvers that included rapid descents, steep turns and coordinated roll outs." None of this could have been done without "critical inside help from aviation and tactical experts." As a 20-year Boeing pilot and captain, he writes that he would have been "challenged to duplicate this performance without several practice flights." The pilots could not have done this on the basis of the training they received in single-engine airplanes. Moreover, their civilian flight instructors all said afterwards, that in early 2001, none of the pilots was competent to fly Boeing airliners.

His conclusion is that they received advanced training in the final phase from Saudi instructors.
The Saudis and the Pilots

Marshall presents the following evidence:

In the six months leading up to 9/11, four of the eventual hijackers travelled to Las Vegas. These hijackers were the pilots of the four planes that were used on 9/11. None of the other hijackeres went to Las Vegas. Marshall concludes that they must have received training at a site somewhere between Las Vegas and Tucson, Ariz. One possible location he identifes as Pinal Airpark, which had 757 and 747 Boeing planes on site at that time, and which is known to have been used by the CIA and the private mercenary company Blackwater.

Many sources have reported that after 9/11, a number of Saudi nationals, who were in the U.S. at the time, including members of the bin Laden family, were allowed to fly out of the country after the attacks.

Marshall also reports that a large entourage of Prince Turki was also in the United States prior to and on Sept. 11, 2001: "Tucked in the back of the commission's report (and later removed) was an account of three separate chartered airliners carrying about 100 Arab men (mostly Saudis) from Las Vegas on midnight transatlantic flights beginning on September 19." Marshall reports that Turki "was near Las Vegas during the time that the 9/11 Commission 'could not explain' why all the hijackers had made trips to Las Vegas in the months leading up to 9/11."

In the week after the attack, there were at least five chartered flights with high-ranking Saudi officials that flew out of Las Vegas, Newark, Boston, and Washington. Three of these were from Las Vegas.

"The chartered departures from Las Vegas were a four-engine DC-8 for Geneva on September 19, 2001, with 69 passengers, including 46 Saudis; a Boeing 727 for England with 18 Saudis on September 20; and on September 23, a jumbo Lockheed L-1011 for Paris. Only 34 passengers were listed on that plane, which has a capacity of nearly 400. On that flight was Prince Turki."

Marshall makes the point that the presence of Turki's entourage in the U.S. in the Summer of 2001 "entailed a perfect opportunity to get the needed Saudi Boeing flight instructors into the country and out after the attacks without anyone interviewing them."

To support this, Marshall points out that Prince Bandar—now the head of Saudi intelligence—is, himself, a pilot. He was Top Gun for his unit in the Royal Saudi Air Force, and the two Saudi intelligence operatives in San Diego, Bayoumi and Bassan, were associated with the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority.
The Saudi-Bush Connection

The role of Prince Bandar, and his relationship to the Bush family, are key. Marshall does not report on the money Bandar had at his disposal as a result of the (British) BAE-Saudi Al-Yamamah arms deal. But he does demonstrate that Bandar has a decades-long close relationship with the Bush family, and with dirty covert operations. For instance, during the Iran-Contra affair, when George H.W. Bush was Vice President, Bandar agreed to fund the Contra operation in 1984 when the Congress had banned U.S. funds for Nicaraguan Contra rebels. Oliver North testified that Bandar "had sought to keep under wraps his role in funneling millions through a Swiss bank account."

Thus Bandar has been the Bush family connection to Saudi Arabia for decades. As Marshall points out, in the past two decades, the Prince "has spent time with the President's family at their Texas ranch, their Kennebunkport home, at Camp David and of course the White House. He has had visits to the Pentagon and has been flown on Air Force One." George H.W. Bush celebrated his 80th birthday on Bandar's A-340. At one point, the Vice President proclaimed that Bandar was an official member of the Bush family. His new name in Kennebunkport was announced as Bandar Bush.

In less than 48 hours after 9/11/2001, Prince Bandar and George W. Bush would be smoking cigars together on the White House balcony. In his book State of Denial, Bob Woodward reports that when George W. Bush was planning to run for the Presidency, Bush Sr. told him to visit Bandar. According to Woodward, Bush Jr. said to the prince, "My dad told me before I make up my mind, go and talk to Bandar."

Although Marshall does not make this point, Prince Bandar, now, as head of Saudi intelligence, continues to do the bidding of the British, in arming al-Qaeda in Syria. The only difference is that today his partner in crime is President Barack Obama who, in following the Bush family tradition, has continued to cover up the Saudi role, both in the original 9/11, and also in 9/11/2012 in Benghazi.
No Defense

Marshall argues that on 9/11, all four of the planes were supposed to hit their targets at the same time, but the hijackers of two of the planes that targeted Washington, D.C., were delayed in taking over the cockpits, which resulted in those planes flying further west than intended, and thus delaying the operation. Marshall's point is that this delay exposed the fact that the Bush White House stalled in responding to the attack. Two military jets were sent up after it became clear that the first plane had been hijacked. However, no additional planes were deployed.

Not a single airplane was send out to defend Washington. Vice President Dick Cheney claimed afterwards that he recommended to Bush that orders be given to shoot down any incoming plane, but there is no record of any such orders being given, even two hours after the attack began. And even if such orders had been given, there were no planes in the air to follow the orders.
The Coverup

The coverup of 9/11 is well documented by Marshall, and echoes the coverup of the Kennedy assassination by the Warren Commission. Just as Allen Dulles was appointed to the Warren Commission to control it, similar appointments were made to obstruct the investigation of both the 9/11 Commission and the Joint Congressional Inquiry.

The person appointed as Executive Director of the 9/11 Commission was Philip Zelikow, a former member of the National Security Council for Bush Sr., and co-author of the 1995 book, Germany United, Europe Transformed, which he co-authored with Condoleezza Rice. Zelikow was a member of the G.W. Bush transition team, and the author of the policy paper that the White House used to justify a pre-emptive invasion of Iraq. The 9/11 Commission staff would describe him as a "White House mole." He was in daily contact with Bush senior advisor Karl Rove and with National Security Advisor Rice. Evidence against Bandar was hidden in the final report, because Zelikow argued that it was not conclusive.

In respect to the Joint Congressional Inquiry, Marshall asserts that the mole was former Rep. Porter Goss, the co-chair from the House. He was named by President George W. Bush in 2004 as Director of National Intelligence and Director of Central Intelligence. As to Goss's background, Marshall presents a photo taken in Mexico City on Jan. 22, 1963, which includes Felix Rodriguez of Contra fame, Barry Seal, and Porter Goss, 20 years before the Iran-Contra affair. Goss was a CIA agent at the time of the the Bay of Pigs. According to Marshall, "some independent investigators believe that this [photo] was the assassination team, nicknamed Operation 40," that was responsible for the Kennedy assassination.

Marshall also reports that Cheney tried to intimidate Senator Graham. Mueller, who was appointed FBI director one week before 9/11, also launched an investigation of the Joint Congressional Inquiry staff itself during their investigation, as a means of intimidation.
A Ploy for War

Marshall's overall thesis is that to bring about the change which has occurred since 9/11, a Pearl Harbor-style attack on the U.S. would be necessary. He quotes a document published by the Project for a New American Century (PNAC), "Rebuilding America's Defenses," which states: "the transformation would be a long one—absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event—like a new Pearl Harbor." Moreover, by blaming the attack on Osama bin Laden, it could be used to justify a policy of pre-emptive warfare, which was then carried out against Iraq, and eventually Syria and Iran.

Marshall argues that such a false flag operation was run to cover up the Saudi involvement and the true intention of the plotters of 9/11.

To support this, Marshall quotes from Steve Pieczenik, who served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State under the Nixon, Ford, and Carter administrations, worked under Reagan and Bush Sr., and now works as a consultant for the Department of Defense. Pieczenik, who is also a physician, stated on May 3, 2011, in two radio broadcasts shortly after it was announced that Osama bin Laden had been killed, that he knew that bin Laden had died in 2001. Back in April 2002, Pieczenik said that bin Laden had already been "dead for months."

Pieczenik had met bin Laden, and worked with him during the proxy war against the Soviets in Afghanistan. According to Pieczenik, bin Laden died in 2001, "not because Special Forces had killed him, but because as a physician, I had known that the CIA physicians had treated him and it was on the intelligence roster that he had marfan syndrome. He died of marfan syndrome, Bush junior knew about it, the intelligence community knew about it." Pieczenik reported that CIA physicians had visited bin Laden in July 2001 at the American Hospital in Dubai. "He was already very sick from marfan syndrome and he was already dying, so nobody had to kill him."

Pieczenik also said that he was prepared to tell a Federal grand jury the name of a top general who told him directly that 9/11 was a false flag attack.

Marshall also argues that key to the false flag operation was producing the torture-induced confession of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the so-called mastermind of 9/11.

Report on Portland police involvement in FBI-led terrorism task force is scant on details

Portland Police Chief Mike Reese, an assistant chief, a police lieutenant and two officers have obtained "Secret'' clearance from the FBI to participate in the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force on an as-needed basis, according to a police bureau report.  
Portland police criminal intelligence officers have worked with the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force at the federal agency's request on at least one investigation of domestic terrorism in the last year, according to a report Portland Police Chief Mike Reese has submitted to city commissioners.

This year, the chief assigned criminal intelligence officers to work on an investigation with the Joint Terrorism Task Force that occurred outside of Portland's city limits, after consultation with the police commissioner, the chief wrote in the report.

Those are the most details offered in the chief's 2013 annual report on the bureau's involvement in the federal task force. He'll present it to the City Council at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

"We have committed a very limited amount of bureau resources to JTTF work, so disclosure of the number of cases or hours worked may compromise ongoing investigations and reveal the operational tempo of our work on terrorism,'' the chief wrote in the report.

A 2011 agreement between the City Council and federal officials allowed for "as needed" involvement by Portland Police Bureau officers in the task force.  The City Council vote reversed a 2005 decision that made Portland the first city in the country to pull out of the task force.

The 2011 agreement called on the bureau to submit annual reports to the council by the end of January each year.

Portland's new Mayor Charlie Hales sought a delay in the report's presentation until this month. The report says Hales met with Gregory A. Fowler,  Special Agent-in-Charge of  the FBI's Portland field office, on Feb. 14.

According to the report dated Feb. 19 and made public Wednesday, the Portland police chief, assistant chief in charge of investigations, the lieutenant of the Police Bureau's Criminal Intelligence Unit, and two of the unit's officers have been granted "Secret'' clearance by the FBI. That's a step down from Top Secret clearance, which would allow Portland officers unescorted access to FBI offices or access to informants' information.

It was determined that Portland officers would not need the Top Secret clearance, Reese wrote in the report.

The chief said he limited Portland police involvement with the federal task force to two criminal intelligence officers on an as-needed basis to help ensure "effective oversight,'' the report says.

A Portland police assistant chief, and the lieutenant of the criminal intelligence unit attend the task force's executive committee meetings, either with the chief, or in his place, the report says.  A senior deputy city attorney provided training to the Portland criminal intelligence officers on the legal guidelines for their involvement in any federal terrorism investigation.

The city attorney's office found Portland police have complied with Oregon law and the city's agreement that restricts police involvement in terrorism investigations found to have a "criminal nexus,'' the report says.

Portland police were not involved in the recent investigation and March 5 arrest of a 48-year-old city employee, Reaz Qadir Khan, who is accused of sending aid for a terrorist implicated in a 2009 suicide attack in Pakistan.

This is not the first time the police bureau's annual report didn't meet the city's deadline.

It was issued in February in 2012, under then-Mayor Sam Adams, who filed paperwork authorizing a delay that year. When that report came out, Commissioner Amanda Fritz said she expected more details -- including the number of cases requiring police participation and hours worked -- and voted against the report in a 4-1 decision.

CIA Targeted Assassinations by Induced Heart Attack and Cancer

In 1975, during the Church Committee hearings, the existence of a secret assassination weapon came to light. The CIA had developed a poison that caused the victim to have an immediate heart attack. This poison could be frozen into the shape of a dart and then fired at high speed from a pistol. The gun was capable of shooting the icy projectile with enough speed that the dart would go right through the clothes of the target and leave just a tiny red mark. Once in the body the poison would melt and be absorbed into the blood and cause a heart attack! The poison was developed to be undetectable by modern autopsy procedures.

Can you give a person cancer?

If cancer in animals can be caused by injecting them with cancer viruses and bacteria, it would certainly be possible to do the same with human beings!

In 1931, Cornelius Rhoads, a pathologist from the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research, purposely infects human test subjects in Puerto Rico with cancer cells; 13 of them died. Though a Puerto Rican doctor later discovers that Rhoads purposely covered up some of the details of his experiment and Rhoads himself gives a written testimony stating he believes that all Puerto Ricans should be killed, he later goes on to establish the U.S. Army Biological Warfare facilities in Fort Detrick Maryland (origin of the HIV/AIDS virus, the Avian Flu virus and the Swine Flu / A-H1N1 virus), Utah and Panama, and is named to the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, where he begins a series of radiation exposure experiments on American soldiers and civilian hospital patients.

The answer to the question – Can you give a person cancer – is yes.  After nearly 80 years of research and development there is now a way to simulate a real heart attack and to give a healthy person cancer. Both have been used as a means of assassination. Only a very skilled pathologist, who knew exactly what to look for at an autopsy, could distinguish an assassination induced heart attack or cancer from the real thing.

Is death by heart attack, burst aneurysm, of cerebral hemorrhage a “natural cause”? Not if government agencies have found a way to influence your heart rate, blood pressure, or vascular dilatation. Neurological research has found that the brain has specific frequencies for each voluntary movement called preparatory sets. By firing at your chest with a microwave beam containing the ELF signals given off by the heart, this organ can be put into a chaotic state, the so-called heart attack. In this way, high profile leaders of political parties who are prone to heart attacks can be killed off before they cause any trouble. Jack Ruby died of cancer a few weeks after his conviction for murder had been overruled in appeals court and he was ordered to stand trial outside of Dallas – thus allowing him to speak freely if he so desired. There was little hesitancy in Jack Ruby killing Lee Harvey Oswald in order to prevent him from talking, so there is no reason to suspect that any more consideration would have been shown Jack Ruby if he had posed a threat to people in the US government who had conspired to murder the president of the United States – John F Kennedy.

Matt Simmons, an oil industry expert, was assassinated for turning whistle blower over the Obama administration coverup of the BP Gulf Oil Spill. Investment banker Matt Simmons, who died suddenly, was an energy industry insider and presidential adviser whose profile soared when he wrote that Saudi Arabia is running out of oil and world production is peaking. Simmons, 67, died at his vacation home in Maine. An autopsy by the state medical examiner’s office concluded Monday that he died from accidental drowning “with heart disease as a contributing factor.”

His 2005 best-selling book, Twilight in the Desert: The Coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy, brought him a wider audience. The book argued that Saudi Arabia vastly overstated the size of its oil reserves and that the world was on the verge of a severe oil shortage as the largest oil fields become depleted. This revelation is backed up by Iran. Iran knows the Middle East oil supply is quickly drying up and for that reason it is now focusing on building nuclear reactors. Once the oil runs out Iran will be the only country in the Middle East that will be energy self-sufficient. All of the other Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia will become Third World impoverished states.

Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic was also assassinated. He was found dead in the detention center at The Hague tribunal. Mr Milosevic faced charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity for his alleged central role in the wars in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo during the 1990s. He also faced genocide charges over the 1992-95 Bosnia war, in which 100,000 people died.

Milosevic wrote a letter one day before his death claiming he was being poisoned to death in jail. An autopsy verified his claim as it showed that Milosevic’s body contained a drug that rendered his usual medication for high blood pressure and his heart condition ineffective, causing the heart attack that led to his death.

Former MI6 agent Richard Tomlinson told reporters that he saw documents in 1992 that discussed assassinating Milosevic by means of a staged car accident, where the driver would be blinded by a flash of light and remote controlled brake failure enacted to cause the crash. This exact same technique was utilized for real in the murder of Princess Diana.

If Milosevic was murdered, who would ultimately be responsible? NATO.

Why NATO?

Because, though the ICTY (or ‘Hague Tribunal’) presents itself to the world as a UN body, NATO officials have themselves made clear, in public, that it really belongs to NATO. NATO appointed the prosecutors, and the judges who ruled out investigating any war crimes accusations against NATO. It follows that Slobodan Milosevic, who was a prisoner of the Hague Tribunal’s Scheveningen prison when he died, was a prisoner of NATO. NATO had both motive and opportunity to kill him.

In March 2002, Milosevic presented the NATO controlled Hague tribunal with FBI documents proving that both the United States government and NATO provided financial and military support for Al-Qaeda to aid the Kosovo Liberation Army in its war against Serbia. This didn’t go down too well at the Pentagon and the White House, who at the time were trying to sell a war on terror and gearing up to justify invading Iraq.

During Milosevic’s trial for war crimes NATO alleged that the Serbs had committed a massacre of Albanian civilians in the Kosovo town of Racak. Evidence presented in the court showed that NATO’s claim was a hoax. This is especially embarrassing because the allegation of a massacre at Racak was the excuse that NATO used to begin bombing the Serbs on 24 March 1999 (the carpet bombing were done by the United States Air Force -authorized by then president Bill and Hillary Clinton). Then NATO claimed that the Serbs had supposedly been murdering 100,000 Albanian civilians. However, NATO’s own forensics reported that they could not find even one body of an Albanian civilian murdered by Milosevic’s forces. The failure to find any bodies eventually led to NATO’s absurd claim that the Serbs had supposedly covered up the genocide by moving the many thousands of bodies in freezer trucks deep into Serbia (while Bill Clinton was carpet bombing the place) without leaving a single trace of evidence. But the Hague tribunal showed these accusations to be entirely fraudulent as well.

Milosevic made several speeches in which he discussed how a group of shadowy internationalists had caused the chaos in the Balkans because it was the next step on the road to a “new world order.”

During a February 2000 Serbian Congressional speech, Milosevic stated,

“Small Serbia and people in it have demonstrated that resistance is possible. Applied at a broader level, it was organized primarily as a moral and political rebellion against tyranny, hegemony, monopolism, generating hatred, fear and new forms of violence and revenge against champions of freedom among nations and people, such a resistance would stop the escalation of modern time inquisition. Uranium bombs, computer manipulations, drug-addicted young assassins and bribed of blackmailed domestic thugs, promoted to the allies of the new world order, these are the instruments of inquisition which have surpassed, in their cruelty and cynicism, all previous forms of revengeful violence committed against the mankind in the past.”

Evidence linking Milosevic to genocides like Srebrenica, in which 7,000 Muslims died, was proven to be fraudulent. In fact, Srebrenica was a ‘UN safe zone’, yet just like Rwanda, UN peacekeepers deliberately withdrew and allowed the massacre to unfold, then blamed Milosevic. Milosevic’s exposure of UN involvement in the Srebrenica massacre was another reason why tribunal transcripts were heavily edited and censored by NATO, and another contributing factor for NATO to murder him while he was in their custody.NATO’s Hague Tribunal was clearly a kangaroo court whose sole purpose was to convince ordinary people all over the world that NATO’s destruction of Yugoslavia was justified. Since NATO failed to show this in its own court (a total absence of evidence did make this difficult), there is indeed a powerful NATO motive to murder Milosevic – to prevent his acquittal. In this way, NATO can continue to claim that Milosevic was guilty, and nobody would begin to look into the mountain of evidence that showed that it was NATO leaders (particularly US president Bill Clinton) who committed war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in Yugoslavia.

So many people have been done in by cancer at a convenient time in history that it is now time to ask the question “who is assassinating people by giving their target cancer or inducing a massive heart attack”? Who ordered the hits and why?

Mr. Charles Senseney, a CIA weapon developer at Fort Detrick, Maryland, testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee in September 1975 where he described an umbrella poison dart gun he had made. He said it was always used in crowds with the umbrella open, firing through the webing so it would not attract attention. Since it was silent, no one in the crowd could hear it and the assassin merely would fold up the umbrella and saunter away with the crowd.

Video footage of the assassination of John F Kennedy shows this umbrella gun being used in Dealey Plaza. Video evidence of the events of November 22, 1963 shows that the first shot fired on the fateful day had always seemed to have had a paralytic effect on Kennedy. His fists were clenched and his head, shoulders and arms seemed to stiffen. An autopsy revealed that there was a small entrance wound in his neck but no evidence of a bullet path through his neck and no bullet was ever recovered that matched that small size.

Charles Senseney testified that his Special Operations Division at Fort Detrick had received assignments from the CIA to develop exotic weaponry. One of the weapons was a hand-held dart gun that could shoot a poison dart into a guard dog to put it out of action for several hours. The dart and the poison left no trace so that examination would not reveal that the dogs had been put out of action. The CIA ordered about 50 of these weapons and used them operationally.

Senseney said that the darts could have been used to kill human beings and he could not rule out the possibility that this had been done by the CIA.A special type of poison developed for the CIA induces a heart attack and leaves no trace of any external influence unless an autopsy is conducted to check for this particular poison. The CIA revealed this poison in various accounts in the early 1970s. The CIA even revealed the weapon that fired those darts that induces a heart attack at a congressional hearing.

The dart from this secret CIA weapon can penetrate clothing and leave nothing but a tiny red dot on the skin. On penetration of the deadly dart, the individual targeted for assassination may feel as if bitten by a mosquito, or they may not feel anything at all. The poisonous dart completely disintegrates upon entering the target. The lethal poison then rapidly enters the bloodstream causing a heart attack. Once the damage is done, the poison denatures quickly, so that an autopsy is very unlikely to detect that the heart attack resulted from anything other than natural causes.

A former CIA agent disclosed that the darts were made of a frozen form of the liquid poison. She disclosed that the dart would melt within the target and would only leave a very tiny red dot at the entry point – the same type of small entrance wound that was found during the autopsy of John F Kennedy.For over 50 years assassinations have been carried out so skillfully as to leave the impression that the victims died from natural causes. Details of some of the techniques used to achieve this were brought to light in 1961 when professional KGB assassin Bogdan Stashinskiy defected to the West and revealed that he had successfully performed two such missions. In 1957 he killed Ukrainian emigré writer Lev Rebet in Munich with a poison vapor gun which left the victim dead of an apparent heart attack. In 1959, the same type of weapon was used on Ukrainian emigré leader Stepan Bandera, although Bandera’s death was never fully accepted as having been from natural causes.

Among the witnesses, important people and conspirators who might have been eliminated by induced heart attack and cancer are: Jack Rudy (died of a stroke due to an undiagnosed form of aggressive cancer, just weeks after he agreed to testify before Congress about the JFK assassination), Clay Shaw, J. Edgar Hoover, Earlene Roberts (Oswald’s land-lady), Marlyn Monroe, Slobodan Milosevic, Kenneth Lay (former CEO of ENRON – the largest political campaign contributor of George W Bush and Dick Cheney), Matt Simmons, Mark Pittman (a reporter who predicted the financial crisis and exposed Federal Reserve misdoings. Pittman fought to open the Federal Reserve to more scrutiny), Elizabeth Edwards (suddenly diagnosed with cancer while her husband was campaigning against Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for the presidency of the United States.

During a campaign speech to the Council on Foreign Relations in May 2007, Edwards called the War on Terrorism a slogan that was created for political reasons and that it wasn’t a plan to make the United States safe. He went further to compare it to a bumper sticker and that it had damaged the US’s alliances and standing in the world.), … enter here the names of every politically outspoken person, whistle blower or witness who died unexpectedly of a heart attack or who quickly died of an incurable cancer.

Son Of Hijacked Pilot Analyzes Fatal FBI Missteps

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Andy Downs has spent years gathering information on the FBI's failed negotiations with the hijacker of his father's plane, which ended with the deaths of three people at a Florida airport in 1971.

He still hasn't gotten the apology he's sought, but the FBI recently reached out to him in an important gesture of reconciliation.

His father, Brent Downs, was the pilot of a charter plane taken at gunpoint by a man who had kidnapped his estranged wife and intended to escape to Cuba. The hijacking ended early on the morning of Oct. 4, 1971, after FBI agents surrounded the plane at a Jacksonville airport and started shooting.

The kidnapper shot the pilot, his estranged wife and then himself. The highly publicized shootout led to the first successful wrongful death lawsuit against the FBI and contributed to the creation of the FBI's hostage negotiation training.

Andy Downs, just 18 months old when his father died, has pried reams of material about the case from the FBI through years of litigation, and he's used the information in what he treats as a full-time job as a lecturer for law enforcement training classes. Last month, the FBI invited him to talk at an agency event in Nashville - the first time it's asked him to do a lecture.

"It has been a long road for me and my family dealing with everything we have been through," said Downs. "The FBI of that era did not treat my family well at all."

Downs has spent about six years working to get the FBI to turn over records from the hijacking and has amassed more than 10,000 documents, including court testimony of witnesses, audio recordings of his father talking with the FBI, pictures from the scene and previously sealed FBI documents.

One evening in late February, Downs addressed the FBI's Citizen Academy, a class for community leaders to teach them about how the FBI works. His talk went over in great detail how his father died.

George Giffe Jr., a former Peabody College professor with a troubled marriage, ordered Downs and his co-pilot, Randal G. Crump, to take off from Nashville airport at gunpoint. He took along his distraught and crying young wife, Susan, who had left him just the week before, and a friend, Nashville nightclub owner Bobby Wayne Wallace.

Downs convinced Giffe that he needed to stop in Jacksonville for more fuel to get them to the Bahamas, which the pilot convinced him was a better destination than Cuba.

FBI agents were waiting when the plane landed. An agent told Downs by radio to shut off the engine and said there would be no fuel.

In an audio clip, Downs' voice sounded urgent as he pleaded for fuel because Giffe claimed he had plastic explosives.

"You're endangering lives by doing this, and we have no other choice but to go along. And for the sake of those lives, I request some fuel, please," Downs said to the FBI.

Giffe then allowed the co-pilot to leave the plane, and Wallace also got out and was immediately taken into custody.

Downs obtained copies of the FBI's policy for plane hijackings at that time that stated that the FBI could not forcibly disable the plane or attempt to board without the permission of the pilot.

But without warning, agents started shooting at the tires and the engine to keep the plane from leaving. It was dark and foggy that morning and when the shooting started, Giffe fired back through the plane's windshield.

Less than 20 minutes after the plane landed in Jacksonville, Giffe opened fire inside the plane and fatally shot the pilot from behind, along with his estranged wife Susan, and then he shot himself.

Wallace was charged with air piracy but acquitted, and no one served any time for the deaths.

Andy Downs finished his account to the FBI class by explaining how the failed negotiations led to important changes for the law enforcement agency. His mother, Janie Downs, sued the FBI and Director J. Edgar Hoover and received a $366,000 judgment that was split with the daughter of Susan Giffe and the charter aircraft company.

Downs sold his air charter company about six years ago and devoted himself full-time into discovering the unknown details about the hijacking.

He speaks to law enforcement groups around the country about twice a month. He said they are eager to learn more details about the case.

"Even though the Downs v. USA case is what legally started the hostage negotiation teams, it was still just a footnote in their textbooks and they really didn't know the facts or they weren't able to fill out that part of the story," said Downs, who is trying to raise money to produce a documentary about the hijacking.

Former FBI agent and author Tom Strentz helped build the FBI's first hostage negotiations training program at Quantico in the early 1970s. He said the 1971 hijacking of Downs' plane and the deaths of Israeli hostages during the Munich Olympics in 1972 influenced the training.

"This case happened 40 years ago and there are still those in the bureau who say that it was a miscarriage of justice and the bureau was right," Strentz said. "Well, we weren't right. We were wrong and we paid the price and made the changes."

Strentz, who met Andy Downs during one of his presentations, said he was glad to hear the local FBI office reached out to Downs.

"I guess it's a new bureau that will tolerate criticism, but under Hoover, oh my god, he was a whole different ball game," he said.

Downs said that while his mother and younger brother support his efforts, he has gotten criticism from some family members and law enforcement officials about his dedication.

The FBI's Bomb Factory

It’s nearing dusk on November 26, 2010. More than 25,000 people have gathered in a light rain at Pioneer Square in downtown Portland, Oregon to watch the annual lighting of the holiday tree, a 100-foot-tall Douglas-fir logged from the Willamette National Forest.

Three men in a nearby hotel room have just finished eating a take-out pizza. The TV turned to a local news channel, which is covering holiday celebration. The men spread towels on the floor and say an Islamic prayer, asking that Allah bless their operation. The men pat each other on the back, leave the room and walk to their vehicle, a white van.

One of the men is a teenager named Mohamed. The other two men are older. One is called Youssef. The leader of the group is a man in his fifties who known only as Hussein. Hussein is a bomb-maker for al-Qaeda. He’s been making explosives for three decades. Their operation to set off a massive bomb in the heart of Portland has been in the works for more than three months.

Hussein unlocks the doors to the van and takes the driver’s seat. The young Mohamed, who is wearing a hard-hat, slides into the passenger seat. In the cargo hold of the van sit six 55-gallon blue drums filled with nearly 2,000 pounds of fertilizer-based explosives. Each drum has an explosive cap. They are linked together by a detonation cord, which runs up to a toggle switch.

As Hussein pulls the van, which reeks of diesel fuel, out into traffic, the bomb-maker begins to chant loudly in Arabic. Hussein parks the van on Yamhill Street, directly across from Pioneer Square. He orders Mohamed to flip the toggle switch, arming the bombs.

The two men get out of the van and scurry down Broadway Street and then up to 10th avenue, where Youssef is waiting for them in an SUV. They drive to the Portland train station, where they drop Youssef off, and then park the vehicle in a lot a couple of blocks away.

Hussein mutters “Allahu Akbar.” Then turns to his teenage sidekick and asks, “You read?” Mohamed nods his head, “Ready.”

The bomb-maker hands Mohamed a cell phone. The phone is meant to activate the bomb. He reads out a number. Mohammed nervously enters the digits on the phone. There is no explosion.

Hussein suggests that the signal may be poor and that they should step out of the van. The two men get out of the van and Mohamed reenters the numbers. The phone begins to ring. Then dozens of voices shatter the tense scene, screaming “FBI! FBI!” The two men are ordered to the ground. As Hussein is being handcuffed, he struggles with the federal agents and continues to chant “Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar!” When Mohamed spits at an officer, Hussein says, “I love that.”

The federal agents have arrived, it seems, just in the nick of time. Their felicitous intervention has disrupted a sophisticated terrorist operation and saved thousands of innocent lives. The bomb plotters had been caught and trundled off to prison: another triumphant day in the battle to protect the homeland from al-Qaeda’s terror cells.

But wait a minute. Almost nothing about this scenario was true. The cell phone wasn’t connected to the toggle switch. The detonation cords weren’t wired to an explosive device. The blue drums weren’t filled with diesel-saturated fertilizer, but harmless grass seed. Mohamed wasn’t a member of al Qaeda. Of Somali origin, he was a troubled college dropout from Beaverton, Oregon, home of Nike. Youssef wasn’t a member of al Qaeda. Hussein was not one of al Qaeda’s top bomb makers. Youssef and Hussein were not really arrested and neither was charged with being part of a terrorist plot. Youssef and Hussein were both federal agents.

The bomb plot itself was not an al Qaeda idea. It was hatched by the FBI. Young Mohamed Mohamud did not seek out the bomb plotters; they found him and seduced the young man into joining their conspiracy. The teenager did not build the bomb. The fake bomb was actually constructed by John Hallock, who later testified that he designed the device for “maximum effect.” Mohamed did not select the target. The order to activate the device came from a federal agent. The order to detonate the bomb also came from a federal agent. From conception to execution, the infamous Portland Christmas Tree Bomb Plot was scripted by the FBI.

Yet it was Mohamed Mohamud who was arrested, slapped with federal terrorism and conspiracy changes, subjected to a bruising trial in January and convicted on all counts by a jury that deliberated less than six hours.

After the verdict was read, the gleeful FBI agents and federal prosecutors hailed their victorious sting operation, braying that they had rid the streets of a dangerous jihadist. But this was not a government sting. It was a textbook case of entrapment, where federal agents recruited a disaffected kid, whose only previous legal entanglement had been an unproven allegation of date rape during his freshman year at college, into a fake bomb plot that they had concocted.

Mohamed Mohamud was not a terrorist when the FBI began spying on him while he was still in high school. In the two years he was under FBI surveillance, he did not commit a terrorist act or join a terrorist group. It took the FBI to recruit him into a terrorist cell, indoctrinate him into terrorist ideology and lure him into participating in its bomb plot.

Our government increasingly fantasizes about blowing things up here at home. This is the sixth case where the FBI has invented a bomb plot aimed at snagging hapless, often alienated, individuals who were not terrorists until they were enticed into joining the agency’s own conspiracy.  So what is the point of these operations? To scoop up a handful of estranged, young Muslim men? To make suburban Americans feel safer?

Hardly. The point is fear. The government needs to keep the public in a state of terror anxiety in order to justify its own ever-encroaching powers.

So, Mohamed sits in prison. The Constitution lies in tatters. Fear rules the land.

Let us establish some investigative tools.

1. If you are the law enforcement agency investigating the crime you just committed
     you can destroy evidence and misdirect the investigation.

2. If you are the law enforcement agency who created the terrorist event and the organization
     model of the law enforcement agency is that of a death squad then creating 911 is not an unusual event.

3.  The word FBI is just three letters of the alphabet. The FBI did not create 911. People
      did. You cannot arrest the FBI for creating 911. You can bring the people who created 911 to justice.
      Don't blame the FBI for creating 911. Blame the people who created it.

4.   If you are a law enforcement organization creating the terrorist event called 911  why would you
      pick the universal symbol for law enforcement 911 as the date of the attack?

DHS says FBI “possibly funded” Terrorist Group

It was most surprising to come across the following entry at the website for the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses for Terrorism (known by the acronym START), which is run by the Department of Homeland Security out of the University of Maryland. According to DHS, START is one of their “centers of excellence,” an academic center sponsored by the DHS’s Science and Technology Directorate.

The webpage concerns the “Terrorist Organization Profile” for the Secret Army Organization, a right-wing terrorist group in the early 1970s, a group START writes was “possibly funded by the FBI.”

According to START, “The Secret Army Organization (SAO), a right-wing militant group based in San Diego, was active from 1969 to 1972. They targeted individuals and groups who spoke out against the Vietnam War, especially those who organized public demonstrations and distributed anti-war literature.”

Indeed, if we could turn the clock back to June 1975, we would read an article in the New York Times, “A.C.L.U. Says F.B.I. Funded ‘Army’ to Terrorize Antiwar Protesters.”

According to the Times, the ACLU compiled a 5,000 page report on the SAO, a group of former Minutemen and other right-wingers and violent home-grown fascists, for the benefit of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, “alleging the Federal Bureau of Intelligence recruited a band of right-wing terrorists and supplied them with money and weapons to attack young antiwar demonstrators.”

But that’s not all, the SAO engaged in bombing and attempted assassination, and guess whose house the weapons turned up in? But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s let the DHS’s “Center of Excellence” inform us of this important episode in our history, which came, by the way, after the FBI claimed they had stopped their Cointelpro program of disruption of the Left.

Assassination Attempt, FBI Agent Hides the Weapon

From START’s SAO webpage:

    The report also stated that the SAO planned to kidnap and murder protestors of the 1972 Republican National Convention, which was to be held in San Diego before being relocated to Miami Beach. An assassination attempt of Dr. Peter Bohmer, professor at San Diego State University, and Paula Tharp, reporter for the San Diego Street Journal, brought about the arrests of several SAO members who later acknowledge an FBI connection. During the investigation, the gun used in the assassination attempt was found in the home of FBI agent Steven Christiansen, who was subsequently identified as a SAO contact. In 1973, Godfrey, testifying as an FBI informant, claimed he received up to $20,000 in weapons and a $250 per month income from the FBI to recruit new SAO members and provide information to agents. He also testified to the criminal acts of several SAO operatives, including fellow leader Jerry Lynn Davis. Official statements from the FBI claimed no involvement with the SAO, and no agents were prosecuted.

The story of the SAO is a forgotten piece of contemporary history that is directly relevant to a number of current issues, including the prosecution of the bogus “war on terror,” and the FBI’s role in it; the debates about government participation in and legalization of assassination of its own citizens; and government surveillance of and attacks upon dissent in this country.

It also could be considered a prime example of the historical amnesia that plagues our times, an amnesia hastened by disinterest by the major media, cheered on by government agencies none too interested in accountability for government overreach or even criminality.

Links to the President

According to the Ann Arbor Sun at the time, the ACLU tagged the SAO as “an interagency apparatus organized ‘at the direction of Richard M. Nixon.’”

Reportedly the link to Nixon came via Watergate burglar White House “plumbers” operative Donald Segretti, who affidavits claimed had given funds and military hardware to SAO to disrupt the 1972 GOP convention in San Diego. (The convention was subsequently moved to Miami Beach.)

But it was the FBI who seems to have been operationally in charge.

From the Sun: “SAO operative Jerry Lynn Davis, who once participated in the CIA’s Bay of Pigs invasion, revealed that [admitted FBI informant Howard Barry] Godfrey had regularly supplied the SAO with money and weapons on behalf of the FBI.”

A newspaper office was attacked. A car firebombed. Informants infiltrated, while meetings were monitored. There were plans to poison the punch at antiwar meetings. A theater was bombed. Bulletins were published on how bulletins on “how to make booby traps, how to use ammonium nitrate in high explosives,” And then, there was the assassination plot, or rather plots, as the SAO bungled one assassination attempt after another to kill a left-wing professor at San Diego State.

How It Went Down, and the Cover-up

A 1973 article by Richard Popkin at Ramparts described the threats and the attack, when an SAO hitman with a FBI-paid driver tried to kill an American college professor on January 6, 1972, solely because of his political views and activism.

But first, we should realize this was not the first of the assassination plans. An Associated Press article at the time described another failed plot that had yet another FBI informant, Gilbert Romero, and a San Diego undercover cop kidnapping Peter Bohmer and taking him to Tijuana, and setting him up to be killed by Mexican police. The New York Times wrote that the ACLU report included testimony from a FBI informant, John Raspberry, who said in the winter of 1971-72, the FBI approached him to kill Bohmer. For some reason, the attack never took place.

According to Popkin, Godfrey “was assigned to [FBI] agent Steve Christianson, to whom he reported verbally every day, Godfrey was to work on the militant right wing, and was paid two hundred fifty dollars per month by the FBI.”

Popkin continued, “Apparently, Godfrey himself was among the more dangerous elements in the SAO, and [FBI] agent Christianson among the more dangerous eminences grises of the operation…. Godfrey admitted that he had driven the car from which another SAO member, George Hoover, had fired into Bohmer’s house, wounding Paula Tharp. Subsequently, he had taken the weapon to Christianson, who had hidden it for six months. (This was evidently insufficient grounds for the FBI to take disciplinary action against agent Christianson. He continued as Godfrey’s contact until the bombing of the Guild Theatre, at which point he was removed by L. Patrick Gray himself…)”

The START page on SAO commented dryly on the aftermath of the botched assassination. “The SAO became inactive after the assassination case drew much public attention to the group’s operations,” DHS’s Center for Excellence reports. “The testimony of Godfrey against SAO members resulted in prison terms for a significant portion of the San Diego group. Of course, if the SAO was actually FBI-run, the notoriety drawn to the case would have been the impetus to dissolve the group.”

No kidding?

Bohmer’s Story

I think it’s appropriate to give the last words here to Peter Bohmer himself, who survived the attack and while he lost his job at San Diego State, the victim of a witchhunt, went on to join the faculty at Evergreen at Evergreen State College in Washington.

    A few words about CoIntelpro before I come back to my story. It is short for counterintelligence program. Cointlepro was/is a program coordinated by the FBI to “expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit or otherwise neutralize” individuals and groups…. Although Cointelpro officially ended in 1971, it has continued although in a somewhat less extreme form without the name up to September 11th 2001. Since then we are going backwards towards more police powers, infiltration and framing of activists….

    Although no group I worked in San Diego planned or carried out any violent actions, and many groups were purely educational; 20 people I knew in these groups turned out to be police or FBI agents or informers, many worked for both. They worked hard to cause divisions among individuals and groups. Some but not all were provocateurs…. the FBI visited my employer, SDSU to get me fired, they visited landlords where I lived to get us evicted. They opened my mail, and monitored my checking accounts. We got anonymous phone calls about people being agents who I am sure weren’t….

    FBI sponsored groups did firebombings, slashed tires of my cars, continual death threats, put out a wanted poster on me distributed in San Diego in 1971. The Secret Army Organization or (SAO) a group financed from FBI funds and led by an FBI informant, shot into a collective I lived in with the bullet permanently injuring a member of the collective, Paula Tharp in January 1972.

    Howard Barry Godfrey, a well-paid FBI informant and head of the Secret Army Organization (SAO) admitted almost a year later in court to driving the car the night of the shooting but claimed another SAO member did the actual shooting. After the shooting into my house, other FBI agents in San Diego covered up the crime and hid the evidence such as the gun used in the shooting. The head of the FBI in LA, working with SD FBI, at this time was Richard W. Held who has been involved in the cases against many activists and political prisoners such as Judi Bari, Leonard Peltier and Geronimo Pratt.

    After the shooting, threats and harassment continued. After the Secret Army Organization began threatening liberals as well as radicals and bombed a pornography theater where some police were present, the San Diego police demanded that the FBI reveal their informants in the SAO and the SAO were arrested in the summer of 1972 on numerous charges. Government lawyers hired by the FBI claimed various privileges such as not having to reveal much of the behavior because of security concerns. The full FBI involvement in this attempted murder didn’t come out although one FBI agent was forced to resign. Godfrey, the FBI informant and provocateur in the Secret Army Organization (SAO) didn’t go to prison although two other members of the SAO did.

Amnesia?

As I read this many thoughts come to mind: about the Occupy protests last year, the monitoring of antiwar and peace groups, arrests of activists at the political conventions, the legitimization of state assassination by President Obama, the consolidation of ever-greater power in the hands of the FBI.

What came to mind for you? Will this important episode from history simply drop back into the abyss of forgotten American memories?

I hereby declare on this day commemorating the life and sacrifice of my friend

and brother in struggle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that in the spirit of his

moral legacy, I demand the immediate release from prison of the legendary

lawyer Lynne Stewart, who devoted her entire professional life to the poor, the

oppressed and those targeted by the police and a vindictive State.

I further declare that from this day forth, I shall refuse all solid food until

Lynne Stewart is freed and receives medical treatment in the care of her family

and with physicians of her choice without which she will die.

There is no time to lose as cancer, which had been in remission, has

metastasized since her imprisonment. It has spread to her lymph nodes, her

shoulder and appears in her bones and in her lungs.

A criminal defense attorney in New York for over 30 years, Lynne Stewart’s

unwavering dedication as a selfless advocate was acknowledged by the

community as well as judges, prosecutors and the entire legal profession. Such

has been her reputation as a fearless lawyer, ready to challenge those in power,

that judges assigned her routinely to act for defendants whom no attorney was

willing to represent.

In 2002, Lynne Stewart was targeted by then-President George Bush and

Attorney General John Ashcroft for providing a vigorous defense of her client,

the blind Egyptian cleric Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman. She was charged with

conspiracy to provide material support to a terrorist activity after she exercised

both her and her client’s first amendment rights by presenting a press release

to a Reuters journalist. She did nothing more than other attorneys, such as her

co-counsel former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, have done on behalf of their

clients.

The reason for the prosecution and persecution of Lynne Stewart is evident to

us all. It was designed to intimidate the entire legal community so that few

would dare to defend political clients whom the State demonizes and none

would provide a vigorous defense. It also was designed to narrow the meaning

of our cherished first amendment right to free speech, which the people of this

country struggled to have added to the Constitution as the Bill of Rights.

The prosecution and imprisonment of Lynne Stewart is an ominous threat to

the freedom, rights and dignity of each and every American. It is the agenda of

a police state.

I ask you to join with me to demand freedom for Lynne Stewart. An

international campaign has been launched with a petition that supports her

application for compassionate release. Under the 1984 Sentencing Act, the

Bureau of Prisons can file a motion with the Court to reduce sentences “for

extraordinary and compelling reasons.” Life threatening illness is foremost

among these and Lynne Stewart meets every rational and humane criterion for

Lynne Stewart has devoted her life to the oppressed – a constant advocate for the

countless many deprived in the United States of their freedom and their rights.

Unjustly charged and convicted for the “crime” of providing her client with a fearless

defense, the prosecution of Lynne Stewart is an assault upon the basic freedoms of us all.

After years of post-conviction freedom, her bail was revoked arbitrarily and her

imprisonment ordered, precluding surgery she had scheduled in a major New York hospital.

The sinister meaning of the relentless persecution of Lynne Stewart is unmistakably clear.

Given her age and precarious health, the ten-year sentence she is serving is a virtual death

sentence.

Since her imprisonment in the Federal Prison in Carswell, Texas her urgent need for

surgery was delayed 18 months – so long, that the operating physician pronounced the

condition as “the worst he had seen.”

Now, breast cancer, which had been in remission prior to her imprisonment, has reached

Stage Four. It has appeared in her lymph nodes, on her shoulder, in her bones and her

lungs.

Her daughter, a physician, has sounded the alarm: “Under the best of circumstances,

Lynne would be in a battle of the most serious consequences with dangerous odds. With

cancer and cancer treatment, the complications can be as debilitating and as dangerous as

the cancer itself.”

In her current setting, where trips to physicians involve attempting to walk with 10 pounds

of shackles on her wrists and ankles, with connecting chains, Lynne Stewart has lacked

ready access to physicians and specialists under conditions compatible with medical

success.

It can take weeks to see a medical provider in prison conditions. It can take weeks to report

physical changes and learn the results of treatment; and when held in the hospital, Lynne

has been shackled wrist and ankle to the bed.

This medieval “shackling” has little to do with any appropriate prison control. She is

obviously not an escape risk.

We demand abolition of this practice for all prisoners, let alone those facing surgery and the

urgent necessity of care and recovery.

It amounts to cruel and unusual punishment, in violation of human rights.

 

There is immediate remedy available for Lynne Stewart. Under the 1984 Sentencing Act,

after a prisoner request, the Bureau of Prisons can file a motion with the Court to reduce

sentences “for extraordinary and compelling reasons.” Life threatening illness is foremost

among these and Lynne Stewart meets every rational and humane criterion for

To misconstrue the gravamen of this compassionate release by conditioning such upon

being at death’s door – released, if at all, solely to die – is a cruel mockery converting a

prison sentence, wholly undeserved, into a death sentence.

The New York Times, in an editorial (2/12), has excoriated the Bureau of Prisons for their

restrictive crippling of this program. In a 20-year period, the Bureau released a scant 492

persons – an average of 24 a year out of a population that exceeds 220,000.

We cry out against the bureaucratic murder of Lynne Stewart.

We demand Lynne Stewart’s immediate release to receive urgent medical care in a

supportive environment indispensable to the prospect of her survival and call upon the

Bureau of Prisons to act immediately.

If Lynne’s original sentence of 28 months had not been unreasonably, punitively increased

to 10 years, she would be home now — where her medical care would be by her choice

and where those who love her best would care for her. Her isolation from this loving care

would end.

Prevent this cruelty to Lynne Stewart whose lifelong commitment to justice is now a

struggle for her life.

The FBI’s History of Supplying Live Explosives to “Terror Suspects”

In late September 2011, AFP reported that a man was charged with “planning to fly explosive-packed, remote controlled airplanes into the Pentagon and the Capitol in Washington.” In its report, “US man charged with Pentagon bomb plot,” AFP stated (emphasis added):

    During the alleged plot, undercover FBI agents posed as accomplices who supplied Ferdaus with one remote-controlled plane, C4 explosives, and small arms that he allegedly envisioned using in a simultaneous ground assault in Washington.

    However, ”the public was never in danger from the explosive devices, which were controlled by undercover FBI employees,” the FBI said.

    Ferdaus was arrested in Framingham, near Boston, immediately after putting the newly delivered weapons into a storage container, the FBI said.

    Authorities described Ferdaus as a physics graduate from Northeastern University who followed al-Qaeda and was committed to ”violent jihad” since early last year.

In November 2010, a similar “plot” was engineered, then “disrupted,” also by the FBI – this time in Portland, Oregon. The so-called “Christmas Tree Bomber” attempted to remote detonate a van he believed was filled with explosives, provided by the FBI, before being arrested during a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Pioneer Courthhouse Square. The FBI’s official statement regarding the incident revealed that FBI agents had handled, even detonated live explosives with the entrapped suspect at Lincoln County Park in the lead up to the final failed bombing.

The FBI’s official statement titled, “Oregon Resident Arrested in Plot to Bomb Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Portland,” released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office on November 26, 2010 stated (emphasis added):

    According to the affidavit, on November 4, 2010, Mohamud and the undercover FBI operatives traveled to a remote location in Lincoln County, Ore., where they detonated a bomb concealed in a backpack as a trial run for the upcoming attack. Afterwards, on the drive back to Corvallis, undercover FBI operatives questioned Mohamud as to whether he was capable of looking at the bodies of those who would be killed in the upcoming attack in Portland. According to the affidavit, Mohamud responded, “I want whoever is attending that event to leave, to leave either dead or injured.”

    Upon returning to Corvallis that same day, the affidavit alleges that Mohamud recorded a video of himself with the undercover FBI operatives in which he read a written statement that offered a rationale for his bomb attack. On Nov. 18, 2010, undercover FBI operatives picked up Mohamud to travel to Portland in order to finalize the details of the attack.

    Earlier this evening, Mohamud was arrested after he attempted to remotely detonate what he believed to be explosives in a van that was parked near the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland, the affidavit alleges.

Yet another similar operation was carried out by the FBI in February 2012, where yet another otherwise incapable patsy was  provided with live explosives in the lead up to what was ultimately a failed suicide bombing at the US Capitol. USA Today reported in their article, “FBI foils alleged suicide bomb attack on U.S. Capitol,” that (emphasis added):

    According to a counterterrorism official, El Khalifi “expressed interest in killing at least 30 people and considered targeting a building in Alexandria and a restaurant, synagogue and a place where military personnel gather in Washington before he settled on the Capitol after canvassing that area a couple of times,” the Associated Press writes. During the year-long investigation, El Khalifi detonated explosives at a quarry in the capital region with undercover operatives. He is not believed to be affiliated with al-Qaeda, officials said.

The frightening trend of the FBI cultivating otherwise incapable “terror” suspects, providing them with and detonating real explosives, before giving them inert or controlled devices to carry out attacks on public targets where mass casualties are averted only at the last possible moment, sets the stage for at the very least, incredible potential for catastrophic blunders, and at worst, false flag attacks.

Has the FBI ever presided over “sting operations” that were actually carried out? The answer is yes. The FBI in fact was presiding over the terrorists who carried out the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The role of the FBI leading up to the deadly attack would most likely have gone unreported had an FBI informant not taped his conversations with FBI agents after growing suspicious during the uncover operation. The New York Times in their article, “Tapes Depict Proposal to Thwart Bomb Used in Trade Center Blast,” reported:

    Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center, and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after the blast.

    The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by an F.B.I. supervisor who had other ideas about how the informer, Emad A. Salem, should be used, the informer said.

    The account, which is given in the transcript of hundreds of hours of tape recordings Mr. Salem secretly made of his talks with law-enforcement agents, portrays the authorities as in a far better position than previously known to foil the Feb. 26 bombing of New York City’s tallest towers. The explosion left six people dead, more than 1,000 injured and damages in excess of half a billion dollars.

What takes shape is an FBI at the center of perpetuating America’s terror menace, not at the forefront of fighting it. With every attack foiled or carried out involving FBI uncover operatives revealed only after successful “stings” or in the case of the World Trade Center bombings, an inconvenient witness stepping forward and revealing the FBI’s role, the first and foremost suspect considered after any bombing on US soil should be the FBI itself.

Recent explosions at the Boston Marathon have left two dead and many more injured. While the public waits to find out who will be blamed, and the role, if any the FBI played in the lead up to the explosions, it would be best to keep in mind the insidious and/or incompetent role the FBI has played during similar events, some of which have occurred recently and in close proximity to the latest explosions.

Already some across the Western media are attempting to draw parallels to the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington – despite the fact that the US is now deliberately funding and arming Al Qaeda in Syria, as well as openly supporting previously listed terrorist organization, Mujahedeen e-Khalq (MEK), in Iran. Vigilance must be kept against Western governments eager to both exploit and perpetuate  terrorism and tragedy as well as manufacture it when necessary.

THE SHORT STORY
Emad Salem, a former Egyptian Intelligence officer was hired by FBI  agents Anticev and Floyd to organize a group of Muslims in New York and New Jersey to build a bomb to blow up the World Trade Center in 1993. He was provided over $1 million dollars of taxpayer money to organize the group, show the group how to build the bomb, and provide bomb making materials.
When the bomb was built FBI  agent provacteur Emad Salem went back to his FBI  handlers Anticev and Floyd and told them
the group was getting ready to detonate the bomb. FBI  agents Anticev and Floyd fired Ahmed Salem and allowed the group of muslims
to explode the bomb in the parking garage under the Word Trade Center. FBI  agent provacteur Emad Salem immediately went to the press
and told the press he warned the FBI  agents the group was getting ready to explode the bomb. FBI  agents Anticev and Floyd denied it.
Emad Salem then produced audio tapes he had made secretly between him and his FBI  handlers showing that he had warned them.
The FBI  agents Anticev and Floyd were never charged with a crime nor were they fired from the FBI.

The informer at the center of the Government's case in the plot to bomb New York City landmarks had a volatile relationship with his handlers, often quarreling with F.B.I. agents who used him to infiltrate a group of Muslim extremists who have been charged in the plot, according to transcripts of secretly taped conversations.

Transcripts of the hundreds of hours of tapes -- which were recorded by the informer, Emad A. Salem, without the knowledge of the F.B.I. -- were distributed to defense lawyers yesterday. Although Judge Michael B. Mukasey ordered the lawyers to keep them secret, a copy of the transcripts was made available to The New York Times.

The tapes offer a rare glimpse into the sensitive relationship between the confidential informer and the law-enforcement officals with whom he worked. They also reveal for the first time how Federal and police agents instructed him to "pump up" a suspect for information and negotiate a $1 million fee from the Government for his services.

After the bombing, he resumed his undercover work. In an undated transcript of a conversation from that period, Mr. Salem recounts a talk he had had earlier with an agent about an unnamed F.B.I. supervisor who, he said, "came and messed it up."

"He requested to meet me in the hotel," Mr. Salem says of the supervisor.

"He requested to make me to testify, and if he didn't push for that, we'll be going building the bomb with a phony powder, and grabbing the people who was involved in it. But since you, we didn't do that."

The transcript quotes Mr. Salem as saying that he wanted to complain to F.B.I. Headquarters in Washington about the Bureau's failure to stop the bombing, but was dissuaded by an agent identified as John Anticev.

Mr. Salem said Mr. Anticev had told him,

"He said, I don't think that the New York people would like the things out of the New York Office to go to Washington, D.C."

Another agent, identified as Nancy Floyd, does not dispute Mr. Salem's account, but rather, appears to agree with it, saying of the `New York people':

"Well, of course not, because they don't want to get their butts chewed."

The host of the popular news program Reality Check has asked if the Second Boston Massacre, as it is coming to be known, was a case of FBI entrapment which followed a tragic path similar to the known entrapment case of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
VIDEO Ben Swann Reality Check: Did the FBI know about Boston bombing beforehand? In the 1993 bombing, an Egyptian informant captured FBI agents on hundreds of hours of tape discussing the luring of suspects into a plot which would eventually kill six people and injure thousands. The FBI's plan was to substitute a harmless black powder for gunpowder, but somehow the FBI, in the informant's words, "messed up." The taped evidence was never allowed into the trial of the conspirators. The New York Times was given copies of the tapes. In an article "Tapes Depict Proposal to Thwart Bomb Used in Trade Center Blast," the New York Times reports an exchange between FBI agents and Emad A. Salem, 43-year-old former Egyptian army officer who had been recruited to penetrate a circle of Muslim extremists: "In one of the first numbered tapes, Mr. Salem is quoted as telling agent Floyd: "Since the bomb went off I feel terrible. I feel bad. I feel here is people who don't listen." Ms. Floyd seems to commiserate, saying, "hey, I mean it wasn't like you didn't try and I didn't try." In an apparent reference to Mr. Salem's complaints about the supervisor, Agent Floyd adds, "You can't force people to do the right thing."" Swann calls attention to a last-minute sweep of the finish line at the Boston Marathon, by bomb-sniffing dogs, just before the blasts. It was announced to the audience and runners not to "worry," and that the sweep was a "training exercise." The 1993 World Trade Center bombing is one of numerous instances of the CIA and FBI working closely with terrorist elements from abroad in order to ostensibly serve a national security purpose. In February of 2012, at the sentencing of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the "Underwear Bomber," flight passenger Kurt Haskell said in court, in his victim impact statement, that he had seen personnel with security clearances usher Umar into a secure area which bypassed airport security. Haskell said in his court statement: "In closing I will just say that regardless of how the media and government try to shape the public perception of this case, I am convinced that Umar was given an intentionally defective bomb by a U.S. Government agent and placed on our flight without showing a passport or going through security, to stage a false terrorist attack to be used to implement various government policies." Zubeidat Tsarnaeva told the English-language Russia Today state television station in a phone interview, a recording of which was obtained by Reuters, that she believed her sons were innocent and had been framed.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was killed in a shootout with police and his 19-year-old brother Dzhokhar was captured after a day-long manhunt.

"He (Tamerlan) was 'controlled' by the FBI, like, for three to five years," she said, speaking in English and using the direct English translation of a word in Russian that means monitored.

"They knew what my son was doing, they knew what sites on the Internet he was going to," she said in what Russia Today described as a call from Makhachkala, where she lives in Russia's Dagestan region after returning from the United States.

Tsarnaeva echoed the boys' father, Anzor, who said on Friday that he believed they had been framed. Both suggested in separate interviews that the FBI had made no secret of the fact that at least one of the brothers was being watched.

"I do not believe that my sons could have planned and organized the terrorist act, because they knew U.S. national security services were keeping an eye on them," Anzor Tsarnaev told Russia's Channel One television.

"They (the security services) said 'We know what you eat, what you read on the Internet'," he said, without making clear how the security officers had made contact.

In her interview with Russia Today, Tsarnaeva suggested FBI officers had visited her home when she still lived in the United States and told her that Tamerlan "was really an extremist leader and that they were afraid of him."

"It is really, really a hard thing to hear. And being a mother, what I can say is that I am really sure, I am, like, 100 percent sure, that this is a set-up," she said.

She did not say whether the FBI had started to take an interest in Tamerlan although she also referred to the security services' interest in what Internet sites he visited.

U.S. government officials have said the brothers were not under surveillance as possible militants.

But the FBI said in a statement on Friday that in 2011 it interviewed Tamerlan at the request of a foreign government, which it did not identify.

It said the matter was closed because interviews with Tamerlan and family members "did not find any terrorism activity, domestic or foreign".

The FBI statement was the first evidence that the family had come to security officials' attention after they emigrated to the United States from Dagestan about a decade ago.

almost choked on my coffee listening to neoconservative Rudy Giuliani pompously claim on national TV that he was surprised about any Chechens being responsible for the Boston Marathon bombings because he's never seen any indication that Chechen extremists harbored animosity toward the U.S.; Guiliani thought they were only focused on Russia.

Giuliani knows full well how the Chechen "terrorists" proved useful to the U.S. in keeping pressure on the Russians, much as the Afghan mujahedeen were used in the anti-Soviet war in Afghanistan from 1980 to 1989. In fact, many neocons signed up as Chechnya's "friends," including former CIA Director James Woolsey.

For instance, see this 2004 article in the UK Guardian, entitled, "The Chechens' American friends: The Washington neocons' commitment to the war on terror evaporates in Chechnya, whose cause they have made their own."

Author John Laughland wrote: "the leading group which pleads the Chechen cause is the American Committee for Peace in Chechnya (ACPC). The list of the self-styled 'distinguished Americans' who are its members is a roll call of the most prominent neoconservatives who so enthusiastically support the 'war on terror.'

"They include Richard Perle, the notorious Pentagon adviser; Elliott Abrams of Iran-Contra fame; Kenneth Adelman, the former US ambassador to the UN who egged on the invasion of Iraq by predicting it would be 'a cakewalk'; Midge Decter, biographer of Donald Rumsfeld and a director of the rightwing Heritage Foundation; Frank Gaffney of the militarist Centre for Security Policy; Bruce Jackson, former US military intelligence officer and one-time vice-president of Lockheed Martin, now president of the US Committee on Nato; Michael Ledeen of the American Enterprise Institute, a former admirer of Italian fascism and now a leading proponent of regime change in Iran; and R. James Woolsey, the former CIA director who is one of the leading cheerleaders behind George Bush's plans to re-model the Muslim world along pro-US lines."

The ACPC later sanitized "Chechnya" to "Caucasus" so it's rebranded itself as the "American Committee for Peace in the Caucasus."

Of course, Giuliani also just happens to be one of several neocons and corrupt politicians who took hundreds of thousands of dollars from MEK sources when that Iranian group was listed by the U.S. State Department as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). The money paid for these American politicians to lobby (illegally under the Patriot Act) U.S. officials to get MEK off the FTO list.

Down the Rabbit Hole

Alice in Wonderland is an understatement if you understand the full reality of what's going on. But if you can handle going down the rabbit hole even further, check out prominent former New York Times journalist (and author of The Commission book) Phil Shenon's discovery of the incredible "Terrible Missed Chance" a couple of years ago.

Shenon's discovery involved key information that the FBI and the entire "intelligence" community mishandled and covered up, not only before 9/11 but for a decade afterward. And it also related to the exact point of my 2002 "whistleblower memo" that led to the post 9/11 DOJ-Inspector General investigation about FBI failures and also partially helped launch the 9/11 Commission investigation.

But still the full truth did not come out, even after Shenon's blockbuster discovery in 2011 of the April 2001 memo linking the main Chechen leader Ibn al Khattab to Osama bin Laden. The buried April 2001 memo had been addressed to FBI Director Louis Freeh (another illegal recipient of MEK money, by the way!) and also to eight of the FBI's top counter-terrorism officials.

Similar memos must have been widely shared with all U.S. intelligence in April 2001. Within days of terrorist suspect Zaccarias Moussaoui's arrest in Minnesota on Aug. 16, 2001, French intelligence confirmed that Moussaoui had been fighting under and recruiting for Ibn al-Khattab, raising concerns about Moussaoui's flight training.

Yet FBI Headquarters officials balked at allowing a search of his laptop and other property, still refusing to recognize that: 1) the Chechen separatists were themselves a "terrorist group" for purposes of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act's (FISA) legal requirement of acting "on behalf of a foreign power" and 2) that Moussaoui's link to Ibn al Khattab inherently then linked him to bin Laden's well-recognized Al Qaeda group for purposes of FISA (the point in my memo).

This all occurred during the same time that CIA Director George Tenet and other counter-terrorism officials - and don't forget that Tenet was apprised of the information about Moussaoui's arrest around Aug. 24, 2001 - told us their "hair was on fire" over the prospect of a major terrorist attack and "the system was blinking red."

The post 9/11 investigations launched as a result of my 2002 "whistleblower memo" did conclude that a major mistake, which could have prevented or reduced 9/11, was the lack of recognition of al Khattab's Chechen fighters as a "terrorist group" for purposes of FISA.

As far as I know, the several top FBI officials, who were the named recipients of the April 2001 intelligence memo entitled "Bin Laden/Ibn Khattab Threat Reporting" establishing how the two leaders were "heavily entwined," brushed it off by mostly denying they had read the April 2001 memo (which explains why the memo had to be covered up as they attempted to cover up other embarrassing info).

There are other theories, of course, as to why U.S. officials could not understand or grasp this "terrorist link." These involve the U.S.'s constant operating of "friendly terrorists," perhaps even al Khattab himself (and/or those around him), on and off, opportunistically, for periods of time to go against "enemy" nations, i.e., the Soviet Union, and regimes we don't' like.

Shifting Lines

But officials can get confused when their former covert "assets" turn into enemies themselves. That's what has happened with al-Qaeda-linked jihadists in Libya and Syria, fighters who the U.S. government favored in their efforts to topple the Qaddafi and Assad regimes, respectively. These extremists are prone to turn against their American arms suppliers and handlers once the common enemy is defeated.

The same MO exists with the U.S. and Israel currently collaborating with the Iranian MEK terrorists who have committed assassinations inside Iran. The U.S. government has recently shifted the MEK terrorists from the ranks of "bad" to "good" terrorists as part of a broader campaign to undermine the Iranian government. Giuliani and his ilk engage, behind the scenes, in all these insidious operations but then blithely turn to the cameras to spew their hypocritical propaganda fueling the counterproductive "war on terror" for public consumption, when that serves their interests. Maybe this explains Giuliani's amazement (or feigned ignorance) on Friday morning after the discovery that the family of the alleged Boston Marathon bombers was from Chechnya.

My observations are not meant to be a direct comment about the motivations of the two Boston bombing suspects whose thinking remains unclear. It's still very premature and counterproductive to speculate on their motives.

But the lies and disinformation that go into the confusing and ever-morphing notion of "terrorism" result from the U.S. Military Industrial Complex (and its little brother, the "National Security Surveillance Complex") and their need to control the mainstream media's framing of the story.

So, a simplistic narrative/myth is put forth to sustain U.S. wars. From time to time, those details need to be reworked and some of the facts "forgotten" to maintain the storyline about bad terrorists "who hate the U.S." when, in reality, the U.S. Government may have nurtured the same forces as "freedom fighters" against various "enemies."

The bottom line is to never forget that "a poor man's war is terrorism while a rich man's terrorism is war" - and sometimes those lines cross for the purposes of big-power politics. War and terrorism seem to work in sync that way.

I just received this by e-mail.
Everything I receive by e-mail is copied by the FBI.
So they know what I know.

If the law enforcement agency who committed the crime is investigating the crime it just committed
while monitoring all web activity presenting evidence that the law enforcement agency committed the crime
then they can become pro active and destroy the evidence in real time.
The are able to do this because your tax dollar funds the law enforcement agency to the tune of
$4 Billion dollars. Did I mention the funding received by the other government organizations involved?

None of the following proves that what actually happened at the Boston
Marathon was different from what the FBI says happened. But the fact that
terrorist events make the public more obedient to the rulers (as indicated
by the understandable willingness of everybody in Boston and surrounding
towns to remain indoors when instructed to do so by the authorities, in the
name of public safety) constitutes a cui bono (to whose benefit?) reason for
at least being skeptical of the FBI's account of things. Specific reasons
for sketicism are recounted here, and I will add postcripts if and when more
become apparent.

FBI. Two things are notable about this press conference:

1. The FBI spokesman says emphatically that no other images than the ones
displayed by him in this press conference should be used by anybody, because
it would only confuse things.

2. The video shows the two suspects at the scene (presumably) of the
explosions wearing black backpacks [the authorities had previously reported
that evidence from bomb residue indicated the bomb had been inside a black
bag of some kind] that supposedly contain bombs, but--and this is extremely
strange--there are no images of the suspects subsequently NOT wearing these
same backpacks. In other words there is no evidence that these suspects
placed their backpacks on the ground and then walked away. For all one can
tell from these images, the two suspects merely were at the location of the
bombing wearing backpacks, much as many other people. We are given no reason
for singling out these two particular individuals from the others in the
area wearing black backpacks. Why not?

It is not as if no other people in the area were wearing black backpacks.

? This video (I wonder how long
it will remain online) shows a man at the scene initially with a black
backpack and subsequently without it, and his backpack has markings found in
the remnants of the bomb explosion. It shows the man suspiciously looking in
a different direction from everybody else in the crowd around him.
Furthermore he is wearing the same outfit (black top, tan pants) that Navy
SEALs wear. How come the FBI doesn't want people to look at this video, with
actual evidence that its subject may have been a bomber, and wants us to
look only at images that do not constitute evidence the subject may have
been the bomber?

Did the FBI single out the two Chechen men as the suspects for a very
different reason than the one they told the public? They told the public
they singled out these men based only on the video images. The public was
led to believe that the FBI had no knowledge at this time of who the men
were, not even what their names were. We were led to believe that there was
no prior connection between the FBI and these completely unknown (to the
FBI) individuals.

Why did the two Chechen brother suspects behave* as if they were guilty? One
explanation, of course, is that they were indeed guilty of setting off the
Marathon explosions. But it is not the only explanation. Consider the
following hypothetical scenario: After the FBI interviewed the elder brother
two years ago it decided these two young men were the kind of people who
could be induced by an undercover FBI agent posing as a radical Muslim to do

Suppose, however, that by April of 2013 the FBI was a bit
embarrassed by all of the reporting of its "saving" Americans from evil
terrorist bombings "just in the nick of time" when it was the FBI itself

bodies, and go down fighting as martyrs.

What’s ongoing resembles post-9/11 events.

Fear-mongering, lies and misinformation replace truth and full disclosure. Muslims became public enemy number one. Who’ll suffer most with them this time?

Vital information is suppressed. Fingers point the wrong way. Innocent victims are blamed for state-sponsored terror. More on that below.

National emotions are aroused. At issue is enlisting public support.

Post-9/11, Bush addressed an Episcopal National Cathedral prayer and remembrance ceremony.

“(O)ur country was attacked with deliberate and massive cruelty,” he said. “We have seen the images of fire and ashes and bent steel.”

He omitted what’s most important. Washington bore full responsibility. The worst of all possible worlds followed.

On April 18, Obama addressed a Holy Cross Cathedral interfaith prayer service. “(I)n an instant, the day’s beauty was shattered,” he said. “A celebration became a tragedy. And so we come together to pray and mourn and measure our loss.”

“We will find you,” he added. “And yes, you will face justice. We will hold you accountable.” Truth and full disclosure always loses out.

Early Friday, newly released FBI photos showed alleged bombing suspects. They brothers. They were called “armed and extremely dangerous.” Allegedly they had “explosives and guns.” Official reports lack credibility.

One suspect was arrested. The other fled. He’s now hospitalized in serious condition. Police discovered his whereabouts and shot him. Officials later said the one taken into custody died. Allegedly he was killed in a “violent standoff.” Cold-blooded murder is more likely.

A “massive manhunt” continues. Officials said suspects came from Chechnya or nearby. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews alleged they’re Arabs. Perhaps from Yemen, he said.

Mossad-connected DEBKAfile called them “Chechen Wahhabi cell” members. Saudi Arabia funds it, it said. Older brother Tamerlan was 26. Police likely killed him in cold blood. He was a boxer and Bunker Hill Community College engineering student.

Younger brother Dzhokhar fled. He’s 19 years old. He’s a Cambridge Rindge and Latin School graduate. His father calls him a “true angel.”He’s a Greater Boston League all-star wrestler.

He won a city of Cambridge $2,500 scholarship. He’s a second year medical student. His father said both brothers were “set up.” They “killed my older son Tamerlan,” he added.

Over 10 years ago, both brothers came to America with their family. They’re not terrorists.

Officials said greater Boston public transportation shut down. The FAA ordered a no-fly zone over a 3.5 mile radius of the bombing site. Watertown, Cambridge, Newton, Brookline, Waltham, Belmont, and other suburban area residents were advised to stay home.

Colleges and universities closed for the day. Local businesses were told not to open. Thousands of officers made house-to-house searches. Swat teams are involved. Some areas were evacuated. Helicopters patrol overhead. Police cars are everywhere.

Greater Boston’s never seen anything like this before. It’s surreal. It resembles a bad film plot. It gets round-the-clock coverage. Managed news misinformation substitutes for cold hard facts.

Infowars headlined “Did Boston Bombing Suspect Try to Surrender?” An image showed him lying prone with his arms outstretched. He held no weapon. None appeared near him.

One suspect killed. Perhaps another to follow. What better way to bury truth. Dead men tell no tales. Exculpating evidence perhaps won’t surface. Media scoundrels won’t report what does.

Lots more went on. On marathon day, eyewitnesses reported bomb drills, training exercises and rooftop snipers. Authorities denied them.

University of Mobile cross country coach Alastair Stevenson contradicted them, saying:

“At the starting line this morning, they had bomb sniffing dogs and the bomb squad out there. They kept announcing to runners not to be alarmed, that they were running a training exercise.”

On April 17, Anthony Gucciardi headlined “Craft International Private Military Forces at Boston Marathon?”

Images showed two men “with earpieces and military-esque gear….(T)hey may likely be employees of the Blackwater-style private military/security firm Craft International.”

Their attire was later “revealed to be standard issue Craft International clothing.” The skull logo on one man’s cap identifies Craft.

Why were both men and others with them in Boston? Images show around 10 wearing similar attire. Nearly all had on black backpacks. They resembled those alleged to contain pressure cooker bombs.

Investigators said they contained explosives, nails and ball bearings. They detonated moments apart.

Four or more Craft operatives wore tan combat boots, tan BDUs (battle dress uniforms), black jackets, and had tactical communications gear. At least one had an “inspector radiation alert.” It’s used to detect dirty bomb or nuclear attack emissions.

Why were they near the marathon’s finish line? Perhaps their mission was a black ops. They’re experts in these type operations.

Why did FBI operatives join them? Images show them talking. An FBI truck was visible. Why were FBI agents searching for one bombing suspect before the incident took place?

These and related questions demand answers. Coverup and denial reflect official policy. Vital facts are suppressed. What’s most important isn’t reported.

There are gaping holes in the official story of the Boston bombings.

We are asked to believe that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was identified by the Russian government as an extremist Dagestani or Chechen Islamist terrorist, and they were so concerned about it that in late 2010 they asked the US government to take action. At that time, the US and Russia did not normally have a security cooperation relationship over the Caucasus, particularly following the Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008. For the Russians to ask the Americans for assistance, Tsarnaev must have been high on their list of worries.

In early 2011 the FBI interview Tsarnaev and trawl his papers and computers but apparently – remarkably for somebody allegedly radicalised by internet – the habitually paranoid FBI find nothing of concern.

So far, so weird. But now this gets utterly incredible. In 2012 Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who is of such concern to Russian security, is able to fly to Russia and pass through the airport security checks of the world’s most thoroughly and brutally efficient security services without being picked up.

He is then able to proceed to Dagestan – right at the heart of the world’s heaviest military occupation and the world’s most far reaching secret police surveillance – again without being intercepted, and he is able there to go through some form of terror training or further Islamist indoctrination. He then flies out again without any intervention by the Russian security services.

That is the official story and I have no doubt it did not happen. I know Russia and I know the Russian security services. Whatever else they may be, they are extremely well-equipped, experienced and efficient and embedded into a social fabric accustomed to cooperation with their mastery.

This scenario is simply impossible in the real world.

We have, by the official account, the involvement of the two Tsarnaev brothers, the FBI and the Russian security services. The FBI have a massive recent record of running agent provocateur operations to entrap gullible Muslims into terrorism.

The Russian security services have form on false flag Chechen bombings. Where the truth lies may be difficult to dig out. But the above official version is not true.

Within days of the bombings in Boston, massive contradictions have opened up in the official accounts given by the Obama administration, the FBI and other state agencies as to how this terrorist attack transpired.

As in so many previous cases, once again in the Boston bombings the individual said to be the principal organizer of an act of terrorism was well known to the FBI. In 2011, the agency had been tipped off by Russian intelligence that Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who died last week following a shootout with police, was suspected of being a radical Islamist seeking to link up with armed groups in the Northern Caucasus.

The FBI now claims that it investigated Tsarnaev, a resident alien and Russian citizen, but found no incriminating evidence, learning nothing more about him until after the April 15 bombings.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano testified on Capitol Hill Tuesday that when Tsarnaev left the US for a six-month trip to the Caucasus in January 2012, his trip “pinged” the Department of Homeland Security system, but that when he returned no one took notice because the investigation into his activities had lapsed.

There are many possible explanations for how someone placed under an FBI investigation as a suspected Islamist militant could carry out a bombing in the heart of a US city, killing three people and wounding over 170 more. The one that is least plausible, and can be rejected as a lie and cover-up, is the FBI’s claim that the suspect simply fell under its radar.

The mother of the two brothers has directly contradicted the FBI’s story, reporting that Tamerlan was in continuous contact with the agency for between three to five years and that they were “controlling his every step.”

Russian police sources have contradicted the FBI claim that it received no information from Moscow, reporting that they provided the US agency with a dossier on Tamerlan.

Amid the self-congratulatory praise for the police agencies that placed Boston under a state of siege last Friday before capturing Tsarnaev’s 19-year-old brother, Dzhokhar, there has been a growing drumbeat of criticism of an “intelligence failure” by the FBI. The US Senate and House intelligence committees held closed-door hearings Tuesday on the FBI’s handling of its 2011 investigation into the activities of Tsarnaev.

There is no reason to expect anything but a cover-up from these hearings. One only need consider the fact that the FBI’s director is Robert Mueller, who held the same post on September 11, 2001. Ostensibly the greatest intelligence failure in the history of the United States, neither 9/11 nor the hearings that followed it resulted in Mueller or any other senior US intelligence, military or other government official losing his post for “failing to connect the dots.”

A number of those involved in the 9/11 attacks had been under surveillance either by the FBI or the CIA. The CIA was well aware that two of the hijackers had entered the US, but deliberately concealed the information from other agencies. Elements within the FBI had demanded an investigation into suspicious activities of Saudi and other Arab nationals training at flight schools in the US, but to no avail.

None of those who carried out the official investigations of 9/11 had any interest in probing too deeply into these connections for fear of what they would reveal.

Virtually every terror case in the US since 9/11 has had the FBI’s fingerprints all over it, and the Boston bombings are no exception. The federal police agency has engaged in unending sting operations, using highly paid informants to troll through mosques and immigrant communities, ensnaring hapless people in plots that would never have existed without the FBI providing the inspiration as well as the means.

In the case of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, they were handed an ideal candidate for such a sting—it is now reported that he had been thrown out of his mosque for making militant statements. Yet they supposedly dropped the case for lack of evidence. This claim lacks any credibility.

After the bombings, the FBI’s release of the photographs of the Tsarnaev brothers, appealing to the public for “tips,” amounted to a calculated cover-up. The FBI is not the Keystone Cops. If they didn’t have prior knowledge of the Tsarnaevs’ plans, they knew precisely who these individuals were the moment they saw them on the videos.

Now there is a palpable air of nervousness in government circles. Before a real investigation has even begun, the story is being put out that the two brothers acted alone without any outside assistance. Within the Obama administration, there appears to be a concerted effort to contain any damage from new revelations.

There are any number of explanations for what happened after the FBI received the request from Moscow. One is that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was given a pass because he was seen as an asset in gathering intelligence on Islamist groups or furthering the murky US operations in support of separatism in southern Russia. Some sources have suggested that he may have turned on his American handlers, as has happened not infrequently—the killing of five top CIA operatives in Afghanistan by a Jordanian doctor sent to infiltrate Al Qaeda comes to mind.

One thing is certain; terrorism is invariably bound up with the criminal foreign policy conducted by Washington, which takes the form of an endless succession of reckless, predatory and violent interventions all over the world.

The September 11 attacks themselves had their roots in the decision of the Carter administration at the end of the 1970s to foment an Islamist insurgency in Afghanistan to overthrow a Soviet-backed government, and Washington’s subsequent discarding of the mujahideen, whom it had previously hailed as “freedom fighters.”

History is repeating itself in the intricate and long-standing relationship between US imperialism and Al Qaeda. In both Libya and Syria, Washington has utilized Al Qaeda-linked forces as proxies in wars for regime-change against secular Arab governments.

In Libya, once Gaddafi was overthrown and murdered, the US sought to suppress these forces, resulting in the bloody assault on the US consulate in Benghazi that claimed the life of the US ambassador and three other Americans last September 11. In Syria, it is preparing to do the same thing, working to cobble together a coalition of “moderates” to marginalize the al Nusra Islamists, who until now have borne the brunt of the fighting. All of this is sowing the seeds for more terrorism.

Innocent bystanders, whether in Damascus, Kabul, Baghdad or Boston, end up paying the terrible price for these US operations, which leave a trail of blood and disaster everywhere.

Russia’s warned both the FBI and CIA about Tamerlan Tsarnaev, not once but twice, with the same message, he was “a follower of radical Islam” who “changed drastically since 2010”. Now, the aftermath of the Boston bombings is what the US is left with, while Capitol Hill is having hot debates on how this happened right in their own backyard.

Although FBI officials claimed to have looked into Tsarnaev’s past activities on, they came up without a clue. This was in response to the info Russian officials had shared with them.

Congress and ex-government officials are calling Tsarnaev’s 6 month trip to Dagestan a year ago, a missed opportunity to refocus attention on him and potentially prevent the attack. Not everyone is in agreement on this topic, some saying the FBI was reasonable in their search.

“If there was a failure at any time, maybe it was at that point, to get a follow-up interview,” said Representative Mike Rogers, Republican of Michigan and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, a former F.B.I. agent. “But even so, it’s hard to say they did something wrong.
Travel in and of itself is not derogatory information, and that area is far down on our priority list.”

An ex counterterrorism official, now a teacher at Notre Dame Law School, Jimmy Gurule had a more stricter approach when it came to what should have happened. “When he came back to the United States, they should have pulled him out of the Customs line, inspected his belongings, looked at his laptop and cellphone and questioned him about what he had done in Dagestan,” said Mr. Gurulé.

US security personnel though thinks that reopening the case just because of travel, would be impractical, as the database they use has 700 thousand names, receiving up to 30 alerts daily.

Although many senators from each party hoped that there would have been more done in the past, the majority of them seemed to think the FBI did all they could.

The Russian apartment bombings were a series of explosions that hit four apartment blocks in the Russian cities of Buynaksk, Moscow, and Volgodonsk in September 1999, killing 293 people and injuring 651. The explosions occurred in Buynaksk on 4 September, Moscow on 9 and 13 September, and Volgodonsk on 16 September. Several other bombs were defused in Moscow at the time.[1]

A similar bomb was found and defused in the Russian city of Ryazan on 22 September 1999. Two days later Federal Security Service Director Nikolai Patrushev announced that the Ryazan incident had been a training exercise.[2] This has led to the support of theories by Alexander Litvinenko (later murdered by an unusual radioactive isotope) and Anna Politkovskaya that the apartment bombings were carried out by the Russian secret service FSB (formerly KGB).

Together with the Invasion of Dagestan launched from Chechnya in August 1999 by Islamist militia led by Shamil Basayev and Ibn al-Khattab, the bombings caused the Russian Federation to launch the Second Chechen War.

Although on 2 September 1999, the militia commander Ibn Al-Khattab announced that "The mujahideen of Dagestan are going to carry out reprisals in various places across Russia,"[3] on 14 September he denied responsibility for the blasts, adding that he was fighting the Russian army, not women and children.[4]

An official investigation of the bombings was completed by the Russian Federal Security Service in 2002. According to the investigation and the court ruling that followed, the bombings were organized by Achemez Gochiyaev, who remained at large as of 2010, and ordered by Ibn Al-Khattab and Abu Omar al-Saif, who were later killed. Six other suspects have been convicted by Russian courts.

State Duma member Yuri Shchekochikhin filed two motions for a parliamentary investigation of the events, but the motions were rejected by the Duma in March 2000. An independent[5] public commission to investigate the bombings was chaired by Duma deputy Sergei Kovalev. The commission was rendered ineffective because of government refusal to respond to its inquiries.[6][7] The Commission's lawyer Mikhail Trepashkin was arrested for exposing classified information.[8]

Yury Felshtinsky, Alexander Litvinenko, Boris Berezovsky (oligarch in British exile), David Satter, Boris Kagarlitsky, Vladimir Pribylovsky, and the secessionist Chechen authorities claimed that the 1999 bombings were a false flag attack coordinated by the FSB in order to win public support for a new full-scale war in Chechnya, which boosted Prime Minister and former FSB Director Vladimir Putin's popularity, and brought the pro-war Unity Party to the State Duma and Putin to the presidency within a few months although there was little concrete evidence for these claims.[9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20]

Gordon Bennett from Conflict Studies Research Centre, Robert Bruce Ware, Paul J. Murphy, Henry Plater-Zyberk, Simon Saradzhyan, Nabi Abdullaev and Richard Sakwa criticized the conspiracy theory, pointing out problems such as the lack of evidence.[21][22][23][24][25]
