Did the FBI tamper with a witness in OKC bombing evidence case?

SALT LAKE CITY — A federal judge has indicated he wants more investigation into allegations the FBI tampered with a witness in a trial over evidence and the Oklahoma City bombing.

At the end of a hearing Thursday, U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups stopped short of finding the FBI in contempt of court. Instead, he indicated that he would appoint a federal magistrate judge to oversee further investigation into the claims.

Judge Waddoups did rule that the FBI failed to file a report on the allegations in a timely manner.

“The report raises questions and is incomplete and insufficient to conclude if the FBI was involved in witness tampering,” he said over objections from government lawyers.

The claims of witness tampering spun out of a trial earlier this year over evidence and records connected to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. Jesse Trentadue is suing over the death of his brother, Kenneth, whom he claims was mistaken for a bombing co-conspirator and killed while in federal custody during an interrogation.

Trentadue is seeking records, including videotapes that purport to show convicted bomber Timothy McVeigh pulling a truck in front of the Murrah building and leaving with someone else before the bomb went off. Trentadue has claimed that other person was an FBI operative.

“There’s no doubt in my mind and it’s proven beyond any doubt that the FBI knew the bombing was going to take place months before it happened,” he told FOX 13 outside of court on Thursday. “They didn’t stop it, and then the question becomes: How did you know and why didn’t you stop it?”

The FBI has insisted it had no advance knowledge of the bombing.

As part of his case for the records, Trentadue sought to call John Matthews, whom he claims was an undercover government operative who knew McVeigh. Matthews called the FBI’s Salt Lake City office and told an operator and an agent he did not want to testify.

Trentadue has accused the FBI of intimidating Matthews into refusing to testify, claiming FBI Special Agent Adam Quirk told him he didn’t have to without a subpoena. A report submitted to the court included transcripts of the conversation, which Justice Department lawyer Kathryn Wyer said found nothing inappropriate took place.

“The only reason Mr. Quirk talked to Mr. Matthews is he was the duty agent,” Wyer insisted. “He (Matthews) did not intend to testify.”

The report, which FOX 13 obtained from court records, shows investigators determined no witness tampering took place. However, it did chastise the FBI for not notifying Justice Department about the conversation with Matthews, and Agent Quirk gave a response that “could mistakenly have been construed as legal advice.”

They'll Be Back: PATCON, Oklahoma City, and Jesse Trentadue's Lonely Crusade for Justice

PATCON's handiwork: A fireman holds an infant killed in the 1995 OKC bombing.

(Updated and revised.)

“His name used to be Don Jarrett,” long-time federal asset John Matthews told FBI Special Agent Adam Quirk during a July 9 phone call. Matthews was concerned that he would have to testify in a lawsuit filed by Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue seeking the release of long-concealed video tapes from the `1995 Oklahoma City bombing. Trentadue believes that the suppressed tapes would help identify “John Doe II,” a dark-haired, heavy-set man seen by dozens of people in the company of Timothy McVeigh on the day of the bombing.

“John Doe II” remains at large, and the FBI is perversely determined to protect him. For reasons that will be explained anon, Trentadue is convinced that learning his identity is necessary in order to obtain a measure of justice on behalf of his late brother Kenneth, who was killed while in federal custody shortly after the bombing.

PATCON asset John Matthews.
Matthews was scheduled to testify during a federal court hearing in Salt Lake City last July. On the basis of what he had told Trentadue, Matthews was expected to describe how the FBI was closely monitoring McVeigh in the hours leading up to the bombing.

The FBI continues to insist – despite abundant evidence to the contrary -- that there was no advance warning of the OKC terrorist attack, and that John Doe II and the "others unknown" referred to in Timothy McVeigh's indictment do not exist.

Trentadue maintains that there is a “strong possibility” that the long-suppressed video recordings captured McVeigh in the company of a second person who would be identifiable as “an FBI undercover operative."

During the July 9th phone call with Matthews, Mr. Jarrett told the jittery federal informant to avoid testifying if he could, and to perjure himself if he must. He was also instructed to call Special Agent Quirk, who eagerly reinforced that advice.

“I ain't goin' and I ain't saying nothing unless somebody issues me a subpoena,” Matthews told Quirk, according to a transcript obtained by Trentadue. Even if “they haul my ass to Salt Lake City, I'm gonna set [sic] there on the stand and say I don't recall anything.”

“That's fine,” was Quirk's approving reply to Matthews' announced intent to commit perjury.

In a conversation on the following day, Matthews reiterated his determination to avoid a subpoena.

“Well, yeah, and I mean – worst case scenario, even if you testified you can just – you can say you have, you know – you have nothing to say,” advised Quirk.

Matthews, eager to please a high-ranking officer of the American Cheka, suggested that he might take a trip in order to avoid receiving a subpoena.

“That's fine,” gloated Quirk. “F*ck 'em, right?”

Back at ya: FBI Special Agent Quirk.
It was during the second conversation with Quirk that Matthews explicitly mentioned his role as an undercover operative in an FBI initiative called called PATCON, or “Patriot Conspiracy.” This was a long-term provocation campaign in which the Bureau sought “to infiltrate and incite the militia and evangelical Christians to violence so that the Department of Justice could crush them,” explains Trentadue.

The man Matthews had known as “Don Jarrett” had been his FBI handler – and apparently still is, given the deference to him shown by Matthews. Now that the Regime has largely shifted its domestic focus from Muslims back to “sovereign citizens,” Jarrett is probably busy orchestrating homeland security theater operations involving the “Radical Right.”

Assuming that "Don Jarrett" is still the name of Matthews' former handler, he may currently be working as an "Independent Insurance Professional" in Florida. According to his vita, Jarrett retired from the FBI in 1998, becoming an insurance investigator and security consultant for the NFL. It's not clear how he wound up in Afghanistan last year: A May 1, 2013 email to Matthews reported that he was in Afghanistan, and that he expected to leave at the end of June.

Using his last known email address, I sent Jarrett a number of questions to which he has not replied. Given PATCON's history the chances are pretty good that wherever Jarrett finds himself, bad things are being done to innocent people.

“Ruby Ridge was a PATCON operation,” Trentadue has pointed out. “Waco was a PATCON operation. And so, too, I believe, was the Oklahoma City Bombing.”

The same is probably true of the little-remembered October 1995 sequel to the OKC Bombing – the derailment of the Sunset Limited, an Amtrak train carrying 248 passengers. Sleeping car attendant Mitchell Bates was killed and 78 others were injured when four of the train's 12 cars careened off a 30-foot trestle.

A rail joint bar supporting a critical section of the track had been removed by a saboteur who also knew how to short-circuit sensors that would have alerted the Amtrak engineer of trouble on the tracks ahead. Typewritten notes on both sides of the track expressed outrage over the familiar litany of federal crimes and claimed responsibility on behalf of a group calling itself “Sons of Gestapo” (SOG).

Publication of the SOG manifesto caused many foreheads to crease in puzzlement: This was a right-wing terrorist group so obscure that its existence was unknown even to Morris Dees and his ever-vigilant comrades, who are sensitive to every tremor of “right-wing extremism” occurring anywhere in the soyuz.

SOG was unknown prior to the derailment, and hasn't been heard from since. The FBI insists that it is continuing to investigate the derailment. For the past seven years, Victor Hooper, an electrical engineer from Anaheim, California, has been telling anybody in the Bureau who will listen that he knows who carried out that attack, and why it was done.

“That derailment was carried out by some of the people who helped McVeigh build the bomb for Oklahoma City,” Hooper insisted during a telephone interview with me. He claims to have known at least two of them as neighbors in Anaheim, where they became involved in drug trafficking as part of a neo-Nazi criminal syndicate –and that John Doe II is actually a young man he has known since childhood.

As Hooper tells the story, the man he identifies as John Doe II and whose identity is known to the FBI, worked closely with Kingman, Arizona resident Michael Fortier, who was involved in the OKC bombing plot and spent ten years in prison after agreeing to testify against McVeigh. According to Hooper, John Doe II told him that “McVeigh was trained in sabotage and taught him how to derail a train.”

He made a deal: Fortier.
Following the bombing, and publication of a composite sketch of “John Doe II,” FBI agents descended on Kingman en masse. Hooper claims that “Doe” and a handful of co-conspirators (who originally called themselves “Kings of Kings,” before adopting the moniker “Sons of Gestapo”) staged the Amtrak attack as a diversion, working in cooperation with another, longer-established neo-Nazi group.

“I heard these guys talking about derailing a train, but at the time I didn’t take it seriously,” Hooper told me. “For years I’ve been trying to get the FBI to act on this, and I’ve been told that the investigation is still open, but they’re not doing anything about this. They moved heaven and earth to get Osama bin Laden, but their investigation into John Doe II has been lackluster, at best. Why are they denying the testimony of twenty witnesses who saw McVeigh with another John Doe, and saying that John Doe II didn’t exist?”

“The FBI says that they’ve investigated the case, and they’ve planted agents around the people involved in the train derailment,” Hooper continued. “But it’s been nearly twenty years now, and they’ve not done anything about it.”

During his conversation with me, Hooper made it clear that he doesn’t hold Jesse Trentadue in particularly high esteem. However, they emphatically agree that the FBI knows the identity of John Doe II, and continues to protect him.

In a motion asking federal District Judge Clark Waddoups to hold the FBI in contempt of court, Tretadue points out that in 1995, Jarrett was involved in the Kingman, Arizona branch of the OKC Bombing investigation. At the time he was involved with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force in Phoenix, which was obsessively focused on "right-wing extremism."

The FBI poured a huge amount of resources into the Amtrak derailment investigation, which it styled "Operation Splitrail." As is nearly always the case, the operation was either a huge failure as an investigation, or a hugely successful effort to avoid solving the crime.

Trentadue learned as much when he was “contacted by a man named Victor Hooper … who claimed to have information about both the Bombing and the Palo Verde train derailment that occurred in Arizona shortly after the Bombing. Hooper told [Trentadue] that the derailment was done to distract the FBI from the Arizona part of the Bombing investigation.”

FBI's least wanted: John Doe II.
During a conversation with Matthews in 2013, Trentadue recounted what Hooper had told him. That information was relayed by Matthews to his handler, and a short time later Jarrett contacted Trentadue to tell him that the derailment case “was still open; that the derailment had in fact caused resources to be shifted away from the Arizona portion of the Bombing investigation; and that Jarrett himself was transferred from the Bombing investigation to the [derailment] case.”

Even more importantly, Jarrett demanded that Trentadue “keep the Hooper information confidential because Hooper knew things about how the derailment was carried out that only the perpetrators would have known and that he, Jarrett, or others within the FBI would follow up with Hooper.”

By “follow up,” Trentadue understood, Jarrett probably meant “shut down.” This can mean witness tampering, as in the case of John Matthews. It could mean protecting the identity of key undercover operatives, such as “John Doe II.” In the case of Kenneth Trentadue, it meant killing someone who had been misidentified as an FBI asset with critical knowledge of the Bureau’s role in the OKC bombing plot.

For the better part of two decades, Trentadue has tenaciously pursued the truth about the murder of his brother Kenneth while in federal custody.

On parole after serving prison time for bank robbery, Kenneth was detained in San Diego for a supposed parole violation and transported to the Federal Transfer Facility in Oklahoma City shortly after the bombing. His body was “found” hanging in its cell on August 21.

In body type, facial features, age, and even criminal record, Kenneth was a near-twin of Richard Lee Guthrie, a bank robber who was already in federal custody. Guthrie had been involved in a gang called the Aryan Republican Army (ARA) that staged bank robberies to fund domestic terrorism – including, apparently, the OKC bombing. Along with McVeigh, members of the ARA were frequent guests at a white supremacist commune in Oklahoma called Elohim City, which was overrun by government undercover operatives: German national Andres Strassmeir, Klan activist Dennis Mahon, Robert Millar, and former OKC socialite-turned-ATF asset Carol Howe.

The Feds who detained Kenneth Trentadue and beat him to death thought they were disposing of Guthrie, who knew enough about the government’s role in the OKC bombing to betroublesome. Not long after Kenneth was murdered, Guthrie fell victim to his own oddly staged “suicide.” This would have tied up some critical loose ends – if Kenneth’s family hadn’t found a dangling thread, and pulled on it has hard as they could.

Assets: Mahon (l.) with ATF informant Carol Howe.
By the time Kenneth's mother Wilma was informed of his death, the crime scene was sanitized and the body prepared for cremation. Through her shock and bereavement, Wilma Trentadue had the clarity of mind to demand that her son's body be preserved for a funeral.

As Wilma and older brother Jesse were finally allowed to see Kenneth's mortal remains, they were further afflicted by the company of Michael Hood, regional counsel for the Bureau of Prisons.

As Jesse later recalled the conversation, the suitably named Hood issued a singularly unsubtle warning: "The Bureau of Prisons, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's office -- we're one big Justice Department.”

Jesse was astute enough to understand the import of that remark, and brave enough to treat it with the contempt it deserved. His resolution hardened into fury when he and his mother peeled away several layers of crudely applied makeup and examined the condition of Kenneth’s body.

"My brother had been so badly beaten that I personally saw several mourners leave the viewing to vomit in the parking lot!" Jesse wrote in an August 30, 1995 letter to the Bureau of Prisons that pulsated with tightly controlled rage. "Anyone seeing my brother's battered body with his bruised and lacerated forehead, throat cut, and blue-black knuckles would not have concluded that his death was either easy or a 'suicide'!”

Kenneth had committed crimes in his life and made his full allotment of mistakes, but at the time of his abduction he was the married, honestly employed father of a young child.

Finding himself the hopeless captive of the most despicable human beings defiling the earth, Kenneth defiantly chose to die on his own terms, thereby leaving behind evidence that his death was an act of state-sponsored murder, rather than despairing suicide.

"Had my brother been less of a man, your guards would have been able to kill him without inflicting so much injury to his body,” Jesse pointed out in his letter to the BoP. “Had that occurred, Kenney's family would forever be guilt-ridden over his death. Each of us would have lived with the pain of thinking that Kenneth took his own life and that we had somehow failed him. By making the fight he did for his life, Ken has saved us that pain, and God bless for having done so!"

In 2001, a federal judge ruled that the FBI had lied about the circumstances of Kenneth Trentadue’s death, and had destroyed vital evidence in the case. The family received $1.1 million in damages, $250,000 of which was set aside as a reward for information leading to the prosecution and conviction of Kenneth’s murderers. Jesse Trentadue has continued to pursue civil action against the FBI, beginning with his demand to see the suppressed video footage of the bombing. The Bureau, displaying the resourcefulness of inveterate liars with unlimited funds, has employed every dilatory and diversionary tactic it can conjure, including the remarkable excuse that the recordings are lost somewhere in the trackless depths of the agency’s evidence from the OKC bombing investigation.

Today (November 13) Trentadue was in court seeking to have the Bureau held in contempt, and asking for the appointment of a “special master” to “oversee [the FBI’s] compliance with the court’s orders, particularly relating to the allegations of witness tampering, and with Plaintiff’s FOIA request.” While acknowledging the agency’s misbehavior, and “chiding” them for it, Judge Waddoups declined to sanction the Bureau. That limp rebuke prompted a protest from the FBI’s attorney, Kathryn Wyer, who indignantly insisted that the matter was closed because the Bureau had investigated itself and found no wrongdoing.

In 2007, shortly after filing his FOIA request for the OKC bombing videos, Jesse Trentadue contacted by convicted co-conspirator Terry Nichols, who is serving a life sentence for his role in the bombing and cannot be tried again on capital charges. With Trentadue’s assistance, Nichols filed a deposition in a Salt Lake City federal court.

In that sworn statement, Nichols claimed that McVeigh — who allegedly had been recruited as an undercover intelligence asset while in the Army — had been working under the supervision of Larry Potts, the same FBI official who wrote the murderous “rules of engagement” at Ruby Ridge and later supervised the annihilation of the Branch Davidians at Mt. Carmel, Texas. Coordinating the OKC operation was a Deputy Attorney General named Eric Holder, who later played an important role in covering up the circumstances of Kenneth Trentadue’s death.

Trentadue's legal crusade began as an act of filial loyalty. It has become a struggle to expose the truth about the FBI's ongoing campaign of surveillance, infiltration, provocation, and political murder.

"The reason [the FBI] doesn't want that tape released is ... that one of the people getting out of that truck on the morning of April 19, 1995, was working for the FBI," Trentadue said in an interview with Lew Rockwell. "The FBI had, I now know, at least five or six undercover operatives linked in with McVeigh in Elohim City. What I don't know is the motivation behind the bombing.... What is not clear is whether it was a sting operation gone bad, that the plan was to stop it but the FBI failed, or else they wanted it to happen, as horrible as that sounds.... It's clear that they facilitated the bombing, directly or indirectly. It's clear they didn't stop it."

As is so often the case, the best defense the Regime can make on its behalf is to plead murderous incompetence. In the best Soviet-style tradition of bureaucratic privilege, those most deeply implicated in the crime have been abundantly rewarded.

Today, Larry Potts enjoys a well-compensated sinecure as a Vice President with ambiguous duties for the Scientific Games Corporation. Eric Holder, who reinstated the OKC-inspired domestic terrorism task force in January of this year, is stepping down as Attorney General in anticipation of an even more lucrative reward. John Doe II and his associates remain at large, as does Mr. Jarrett, and countless other members of the FBI’s merry troupe of Homeland Security Theater players. We’ll be hearing from them again.

(My thanks to commenter "ATFsux," who pointed out some important information about Mr. Jarrett's background.)

Defense: Surveillance a factor in airport case?

WICHITA — Defense attorneys for the man accused of a suicide bomb plot at the Wichita airport want to know whether mass surveillance first led federal authorities to the avionics technician.

The U.S. attorney's office declined to comment Monday on the latest court filing in the case of Terry Loewen. He's been jailed since December for allegedly trying to bring a van filled with inert explosives onto the tarmac at Mid-Continent Airport. Loewen has pleaded not guilty to attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, attempting to use an explosive device to damage property and attempting to give material support to al-Qaida.

It has been nearly a year since his arrest following a months-long sting in which undercover agents posed as co-conspirators, and his attorneys argued in a redacted court filing Friday that prosecutors have given them no evidence indicating how Loewen first came to the attention of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The dispute is important because defense attorneys could seek to suppress evidence obtained or derived from any unlawful electronic surveillance. The defense is also apparently exploring a possible entrapment defense, a key part of which is finding out whether Loewen was disposed to commit the alleged crimes before the FBI undercover operation began.

His defense attorneys have argued that the FBI groomed Loewen for months before his arrest, and that there are no co-conspirators or any connection to actual al-Qaida contacts.

Defense counsel wrote they are concerned that the government may have come across Loewen before their investigation under "constitutionally questionable practices" employed by the National Security Agency, the Central Intelligence Agency or under the FBI's playbook for domestic investigations. It noted that programs such as the collection of massive amounts of metadata have

This week, we’re treated to more news of the new breed of ISIS recruits—Americans in the coveted 15-29 year old demographic. Heather Elizabeth Coffman, not yet 30, has been charged by federal authorities with “making a false statement regarding an offense involving international or domestic terrorism,” as the Washington Post reports. Statements posted to her Facebook page include such gems as “We are all ISIS,” “I love ISIS!” and, in reference to her sister, “My dad is a little angry because I got her into all this jihad stuff.”

Quotes like these suggest myriad reasons for respectable mainstream culture to write off Coffman as one more failed American. She is a designated loser in so many respects. Coffman lives with her parents in Henrico, Virginia (where?). A white single mother to a seven-year-old son, she works (or worked) at the local mall, and only recently got into Allah. What a catch, right? And those white-trash eyebrows? Gross.

Pinned to the center of the world’s least fashionable Venn diagram, Heather Coffman appears to have no one but the government to count on for careful attention. But the government is planning to throw her in jail—no court date, son be damned. An all-too-attentive FBI agent, pretending to be some pro-ISIS guy on the Internet, succeeded in wringing from Coffman an offer to hook him up with Islamic State peeps in Turkey. (Turkey?) Allegedly, says the FBI, Coffman also dallied online with a murky “husband” figure who (apparently) lives abroad and (apparently) is into the jihad stuff as well.

Armed with this sad mushball of evidence of…something, the feds have promptly put the kibosh on Heather Coffman’s life, such is it is. Her best-case scenario is now worse than many of our personal Plan Zs. Good luck getting rehired at Hot Topic with a stint in federal terrorist prison, or reclaiming custody of a child with your pro-ISIS Facebook page running more wild and free than you’ll ever be again.

For a government keen on preventing another “Jihad Jane” embarrassment, what difference does Coffman’s fate make now? Like Jane, born Colleen LaRose, Coffman falls straight between the cracks of our pity-crazy culture, into the gaping category of human goods too damaged for social use. LaRose’s attorney described her in words that will predictably be assigned to Coffman—“a lonely and vulnerable woman easily manipulated by others online.” Coffman’s unforgivable ISIS crush, it will surely turn out, can too “be explained in part by deep psychological scars from her childhood.”

God knows how much it sucks to be Heather Coffman. Odds are, she hasn’t had it quite as bad as LaRose, for whom jihad seemed like quite a step up from six years of prepubescent rape at the hands of her father, a teenage life as a runaway prostitute, and a marriage, at sweet sixteen, to a nice boy twice her age. "I was in a trance and I couldn't see anything else," LaRose said at her sentencing. "I don't want to be in jihad no more."

Coffman hadn’t even the chance: law enforcement stopped her—phew!—mid-trance. We can’t be too careful. In an age when the Internet has organized infinite communities of failed Americans into potentially lethal weapons, the precautionary principle dictates that we jail first and ask questions later. The likes of Coffman are “probably” already halfway wards of the state anyhow.

And so it goes, another chapter written in the mutually abusive relationship of bad government and bad culture. Thanks to the current administration’s preposterous Mideast policy, the Islamic State took advantage of the howling moral vacuum at the heart of failed and failing humans, from America to Aleppo, with no one to help them say no to acting out the most naively c

5 Things Government Whistleblowers say you must know

Nov 24, 2014, 12:32 pm

LONDON, UK — No matter how much they dislike it, governments need calling out.

That’s what a group of whistleblowers who risked their careers, reputations and personal freedom to uphold said Friday. Now serving on the advisory board of ExposeFacts.org, a project of the Institute for Public Accuracy in Washington, they said the nature of government secrecy ensures that more people will have to take similar risks in the future — and that the consequences could be even greater.

“If whistleblowers are suppressed, which is the clear intention of the US and British governments, all that’s left is a flow of official information… which adds up to lies and war,” said ExposeFacts coordinator Norman Soloman.

The government doesn’t need to spy on people all the time to keep them in line. It just needs them to know that it can.

The U.S. National Security Agency and British equivalent, GCHQ, aren’t using all the information they’re gathering today, said J. Kirk Wiebe, a former NSA employee who went public after his 2001 retirement with information about the agency’s mass collection of individuals’ data. It’s being stored in a server to be used as evidence of crimes committed down the road.

Those who condone spying because they personally have nothing to hide should remember that it’s not clear what future governments will consider illegal, he said.

“The next time you hear someone saying ‘I’m not worried, I’m not doing anything wrong’ — rubbish,” Wiebe said. “You don’t get to choose what’s wrong.”

Surveillance doesn’t guarantee security.

Like what you're reading? Support high-quality local journalism and help underwrite independent news without the spin.

“We are told that governmental secrecy is protecting us, when the truth is the opposite,” said Coleen Rowley, a former FBI special agent who exposed the agency’s intelligence failures before the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

A refusal to share intelligence within agencies, across agencies and with the public contributed to the attacks, the 9/11 Commission found.

Matthew Hoh, who resigned from the U.S. State Department in 2009 to protest American policy in Afghanistan, offered another example. In the wake of disclosures by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, the Obama administration argued that the NSA’s surveillance tactics thwarted 54 terror attacks. After pressure from journalists and U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy, the NSA confirmed just four cases, none of which were a direct result of the spying program.

“The government can scare and intimidate, but there has been no evidence that these tactics are helping,” Hoh said. “This is actually causing us to be much less secure.”

In the U.S., whistleblowers are worse than foreign spies.

The Obama administration has prosecuted more people under the Espionage Act than all other administrations combined, Solomon wrote in The Nation last month. It’s gone after journalists and government employees suspected of leaking information. It also created the National Insider Threat Policy, requiring government employees to report coworkers who may be passing on classified information.

“In effect, the people of the U.S. are to be viewed as the enemy from whom basic information about government actions should be withheld,” Solomon said.

“There’s nothing a government hates worse than embarrassment,” Wiebe added. “It’s almost worse than leaking a top secret.”

Woodward and Bernstein’s Watergate scoop probably couldn’t happen today.

Deep Throat, The Washington Post’s key anonymous source implicating President Richard Nixon’s administration, was FBI associate director Mark Felt.

Today, the first call reporter Bob Woodward placed to Felt would have been logged into NSA databases and easily traced by officials searching the leak’s source, Rowley said. Never mind all the security cameras that are surely covering the parking garage where they met.

History proves whistleblowers right. Eventually.

In 1963, the FBI called surveillance target Martin Luther King, Jr. the “most dangerous… Negro leader in the country.” Today, Rowley pointed out, he’s an American icon with his own federal holiday.

“It’s incredible what time can do,” she said. “And the reason is, facts come out.”

Similar reappraisals could be in store for whistleblowers such as Snowden and Chelsea Manning, who passed documents to Wikileaks, panelists said. Today, Manning is serving a 35-year prison sentence and Snowden is in exile in Russia.

"Both Chelsea and Edward are on the right side of history," Hoh said, "and they will be vindicated."

Edward Snowden, the whistleblower who leaked top secret documents revealing a vast surveillance program by the US government to the Guardian newspaper. The Guardian's Glenn Greenwald interviewed Snowden in a hotel room in Hong Kong and released the video on Sunday June 10, 2013.

Be thankful it hasn’t happened yet
By Kevin Barrett, Veterans Today Editor

It’s Thanksgiving 2014. You’re still here – reading this. So….
Be thankful. Be very, verythankful.
Terrible things have happened. Terrible things are happening. And undoubtedly, terrible things will continue to happen.
But it could be a whole lot worse.
And yes, I know it’s bad. Every week, Jim Fetzer and I bring you a hideously depressing summary of all of the awful things going on in the world. It’s a TV show called False Flag Weekly News, and it goes out live onNoLiesRadio.orgevery Thursday at 8 a.m. Pacific/11 a.m. Eastern. This week we will be bringing you a special Thanksgiving episode guaranteed to stuff your inner turkey with appallingly demoralizing reports about the most insufferably disheartening happenings.
If you watch False Flag Weekly News regularly, you will be atrociously well-informed about the unbearably hideous events transpiring on this benighted planet.
Even incurably optimistic people have been cured of that dread disease by watching False Flag Weekly News. One cockeyed optimist, simply by setting his computer screen exactly 28 inches from his eyes and focusing intently on it for the duration of a single 30-minute episode ofFalse Flag Weekly News, was able to quickly achieve 20-20 vision, throw away his rose-colored eyeglasses, and cancel his weekly visits to the ophthalmologist.
Now he’s seeing a psychiatrist instead. Fortunately, she’s much better-looking.
Such things might happen to you too, if you made a habit of watching False Flag Weekly News.
Every week we bring you 25 or 30 stories, virtually all of them qualifying as spine-chilling, gut-wrenching bad news. If you survive watching our show, you will be in a position to withstand everything and anything that could possibly come your way, in accordance with Nietzsche’s axiom “whatever doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.”
But Thanksgiving is no ordinary Thursday. So this November 27th, as we kneel down before our national turkeys and plunge our carving knives into the juicy stuffing of our individual and collective dreams, it is incumbent upon us to remember the nearly infinite number of things that we ought to be grateful for. High on that list: The very large number of terrible, horrible, no-good, awful things that, somehow, haven’t happened yet.
Here are some of those things. Each of these stories represents an authentic newspaper headline or TV news lead-in, just like the ones we report on False Flag Weekly News…except these dreadful things have not occurred…at least, not yet.

Just in today via a site called "Digwithin.net>" It names names in
making the connection between the OK City bombing and 9/11 events.
Fascinating reading! Jon

Two Oklahoma Airports: David Boren, KuwAm, and 9/11
Posted on October 28, 2012 by Kevin Ryan

There are many connections between the events of 9/11 and Oklahoma
City. Some of these connections revolve around the alleged 9/11
hijackers, the “20th hijacker” Zacarias Moussaoui, and a couple of
airports around Oklahoma City. Looking closer at the airport
connections reveals startling coincidences with regard to the people
who ran World Trade Center (WTC) security company Stratesec, as well
as CIA Director George Tenet’s mentor, David Boren, who is currently
the co-chairman of President Obama’s Intelligence Advisory Board.

Independent investigators have shown that there are striking links
between the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma
City (OKC) and the events of 9/11.[1, 2] Recently, many 9/11
investigators have become more interested in learning the truth about
the OKC bombing after being exposed to the excellent film A Noble

The OKC investigations have revealed eyewitnesses accounts of the
sighting in Oklahoma of Mohamed Atta and five other 9/11 hijacker
suspects.[4] Last year, an article in the Oklahoma Gazette confirmed
that records show Atta, Marwan Al-Shehhi, Nawaf Al-Hazmi and Zacarias
Moussaoui all “either visited or lived in Oklahoma from July 2000 to
August 2001.”[5]

Between February and August of 2001, Zacarias Moussaoui lived in
Norman, Oklahoma and attended Airman Flight School at Max Westheimer
Airport, which is owned and operated by the University of Oklahoma.
Moussaoui even lived in a university dormitory. According to
Moussaoui’s indictment, Atta and Al-Shehhi had visited the same flight
school in July, 2000, but did not take classes there.

Westheimer Aiport is just three miles northwest of Norman and was
originally a U.S. Navy flight training field. A squadron of the Civil
Air Patrol (CAP), a federally supported, non-profit corporation that
serves as the official civilian auxiliary of the U. S. Air Force,
still gathers at Westheimer every week.[6] Coincidentally, several of
the alleged 9/11 hijackers rented apartments in Delray Beach, Florida
from a member of CAP. One of the apartments was said to be “a meeting
ground for terrorists.” The CAP member landlord, Mike Irish, turned
out to be the first intended victim of the October 2001 anthrax
attacks. One of his employees actually died from the anthrax.[7]

In 2005, Airman Flight School shut down due to its inability to pay
rent and the university newspaper revealed the name of the company
that had leased the building. “The airport building is owned by the
University of Oklahoma. A Cleveland County District Court order had
granted possession of the building to the current landlord, Baker
Hughes, Inc., of Houston, which leases the building from OU.” Baker
Hughes is an oil services company that is among an elite few making a
killing off of the Iraq War.[8]

Dale Davis, the vice president of Airman Flight School, said FBI
agents showed up at the facility asking questions about Moussaoui and
had been there before. “Davis said FBI agents had visited his school
just two years earlier to inquire about Ihab Ali Nawawi, who took
flight training there in 1993 and was later charged in connection with
the 1998 US Embassy bombings in Africa, which were blamed on bin
Laden’s group. Davis also confirmed that Atta and another suspected
hijacker, Marwan al-Shehhi, visited Airman Flight School, staying
overnight at the school’s dormitory in the nearby Sooner Inn, before
deciding to train at another facility.”[9]

Weeks after 9/11, however, FBI Director Robert Mueller repeated his
false assertion that federal authorities had no idea that terrorists
were using U.S. flight schools to train for piloting commercial
airliners. ”There were no warning signs that I’m aware of that would
indicate this type of operation in the country,” he said.[10]
Apparently he had forgotten about the famous July 2001 Phoenix memo
and several other related warnings focused on that exact risk.[11]

Established in 1989, Airman Flight School was owned by Jerry Carroll
and Brenda Keene. Apparently Carroll and Keene bilked a number of
their students out of their life savings as the flight school was
going under. But the service was very good in some cases, considering
that — “Flight instructor Juan Carlos [Merida] picked up Moussaoui at
Will Rogers World Airport when he came to Oklahoma and took him back
to the airport when he left.”[12]

Airman’s students sued Carroll and Keene when the business collapsed,
along with KJB Flight Management, an entity of which Keene and David
Batton were principals. KJB had tried to buy Airman and was managing
the school until it closed.[13] David Batton was, at one time, the
Cleveland County Assistant District Attorney. The Panamanian Juan
Carlos Merida ...

DXer said in a 2010 comment …

The FBI’s narrative will never withstand the production of emails of John Ezzell, James Burans and David Wilson.
The FBI needs to give an answer consistent with what documents eventually produced will establish.
And if the answer is: We don’t know who mailed and processed the anthrax but we ask the country’s indulgence while we close the case and move on to many other pressing matters, so be it.

I think it’s unlikely (although possible despite the largest investigation in the history of the FBI) that the FBI simply hasn’t solved the case and doesn’t know who do it.
I think it’s also unlikely that they have more evidence which would actually make the case against Dr. Ivins. If they do, what possible reason is there for not making such information public?
Which leaves the most likely alternative …
… that the FBI knows who did it, it isn’t Ivins,

but they won’t tell the American people.

Who are they protecting?

Former FBI Agent Calls For Justice If Any Harm Done To Torturers

December 9, 2014 9:00 pm -

We can't get justice for torture architects, but Jonathan Gilliam thinks Senators who released the report should be brought up on murder charges, if harm is done to the torturers.

Unfortunately, Fox News isn't the only cable network putting torture apologists on the air, but they're on the hot seat today because they've been indulging in it since the minute the report was released.

Former FBI agent Jonathan Gilliam has his priorities screwed up, because his concern is for the safety of those who tortured or created the conditions for torture, like John Yoo, and the shrinks who were paid $81 million taxpayer dollars to invent ways to inflict cruelty on others.

Some of the things he says in this segment cannot go unanswered. For starters, he focuses on waterboarding, as if none of the other more despicable acts never happened. So when he says, "Waterboarding is not torture," I have a few questions for him, after I respond with the affirmative statement that waterboarding is indeed torture. You bet it is.

Here are my questions, based on this list of disgraceful acts. The first one is multiple choice.

1) Which of the following would be considered "inflicting damage for little or no reason, just to inflict damage or to impose fear"? That's Gilliam's definition of torture. Here are the choices:

Rectal feeding with no medical reason for it - "At least five CIA detainees were subjected to “rectal rehydration” or rectal feeding without documented medical necessity. …Majid Khan’s “lunch tray” consisting of hummus, pasta with sauce, nuts, and raisins was “pureed” and rectally infused. [Page 4]"
Sleep deprivation- Listed as one of their "interrogation techniques" on page 32.
Putting detainees in diapers- Page 32
Insect use - Page 32
Mock burials - Page 32
2) Does Gilliam believe it is appropriate to use personnel who have admitted to sexual assault and have anger management issues to "interview" detainees?

“The Committee reviewed CIA records related to several CIA officers and contractors involved in the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program, most of whom conducted interrogations. The Committee identified a number of personnel whose backgrounds include notable derogatory information calling into question their eligibility for employment, their access to classified information, and their participation in CIA interrogation activities. In nearly all cases, the derogatory information was known to the CIA prior to the assignment of the CIA officers to the Detention and Interrogation Program. This group of officers included individuals who, among other issues, had engaged in inappropriate detainee interrogations, had workplace anger management issues, and had reportedly admitted to sexual assault.” [Page 59]

↓ Story continues below ↓

3) What does Gilliam think about the "interviewer" who played Russian roulette? Does he think that's not torture, too?

“Among other abuses…had engaged in ‘Russian Roulette’ with a detainee.” [Page 424]

Tomorrow morning Michael Hayden is going to appear on MSNBC's Morning Joe to try and sell viewers on the idea that there was no torture involved in their "interviews." Anyone with half a brain cannot read even summaries of that torture report and not believe those "interviews" were conducted

FBI Agent Accused of Witness Tampering Arrested as OKC Bombing Trial Continues in Federal Court in Salt Lake City

FBI Agent Adam Grant Quirk was arrested over the weekend following an alleged fight with his girlfriend. Why am I interested? Because Quirk, 36, is the same agent accused of telling a key witness to take a vacation in order to avoid testifying during the little-reported Oklahoma City Bombing trial continues to make its way through federal court in Salt Lake City.

Screenshot of Trentadue's Motion 12-1-14
Screenshot of Trentadue’s Motion 12-1-14

As I reported Aug. 10, a man scheduled to testify in federal court claimed Agent Quirk had called him several times, telling him that it would be best for everyone if he did not testify, according to a document submitted by attorney for the plaintiff in the case, Jesse C. Trentadue v. Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Allegations of bad behavior on the part of FBI officials, including Quirk, resulted in Judge Clark Waddoups threatening to hold FBI officials in contempt in November and in the plaintiff’s attorney asking the judge earlier this month to appoint a Special Master to investigate allegations of FBI witness tampering.

If you didn’t know there was an Oklahoma City Bombing trial going on, you’re not alone. Thanks to me, however, you can catch up on things by reading these articles.

It is a common mistake for criminal justice consumers
to forget the FBI crime family is an integral part of the US Military.

When taxpayer funded FBI agents needed satchel charges to
collapse the columns on the Oklahoma City bombing Murragh buildings
they turned to their serial killing partners at Quantico Marine Base
where the FBI Training Academy is located.
Yes Timothy McVeigh's truck bomb was used to misdirect your

Of course the FBI is an equal opportunity serial killing organization.

The FBI turned to Fort Dederick for the Anthrax used in 911.

As a FBI agent was once heard to remark while

Report: FBI's anthrax investigation was flawed

December 19, 2014

The Government Accountability Office says the science the FBI used to investigate the 2001 anthrax attacks was flawed.

The GAO released a report Friday on its findings. The agency didn't take a position on the FBI's conclusion that Army biodefense researcher Bruce Ivins acted alone in making and sending the powdered spores that killed five people and sickened 17 others.

The report adds fuel to the debate among experts, including many of Ivins' co-workers at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland, over whether Ivins could have made and mailed the anthrax-filled envelopes.

The GAO said the FBI's research did not provide a full understanding of the methods and conditions that give rise to genetic mutations used to differentiate between samples of anthrax bacteria. The report calls this a "key scientific gap."

The Truth Is Out There
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s trial is scheduled to begin in January in federal court—and could end with him being sentenced to death. Though Russ Baker believes the Tsarnaevs were involved in the marathon bombings, he has dire questions about the official narrative. Here are three of his toughest questions.

| January 2015

Did the FBI recruit or attempt to recruit Tamerlan as an informant or agent?

Baker’s evidence is far from conclusive, but he points out several suspicious and unexplained oddities. Officially, the FBI claims that it first investigated Tamerlan Tsarnaev after getting a tip from Russian intelligence that he was becoming radicalized. Yet, Baker notes, the New York Times has reported that Russian intelligence agents first contacted the U.S. government about Tamerlan in March 2011—and also that the FBI met with Tamerlan two months earlier, in January 2011. The reporter, veteran Times correspondent Eric Schmitt, told me he stands by the story and the timeline. Baker’s website asks: How did the FBI originally learn about the Tsarnaevs, if not from the Russians?

Baker also points out that, even though the FBI put Tamerlan on a watch list in 2011, he was allowed to travel to Dagestan and freely return to the United States in 2012. A flag placed on Tamerlan’s name by a U.S. customs official had expired by the time Tamerlan reentered the country.

Of course, Baker isn’t the only one asking the question. In October 2013, Senator Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican, wrote a letter to FBI Director James Comey—widely reported in the mainstream media—asking, “Other than Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s interview by [FBI] agents following the warning from Russia, has the FBI had any other contact with either of the brothers?” Comey’s response did not provide an answer. Grassley also asked Comey, “Did the FBI attempt to use the tactic of ‘recruitment’ or a sting operation with Tamerlan Tsarnaev? If not, why not?” Comey denied that the FBI had attempted to recruit Tamerlan, but did not elaborate.

Who killed MIT police officer Sean Collier?

A month after the bombings, under the headline “Boston MIT Cop Cover-up,” Baker compared Collier to J. D. Tippit, the Dallas police officer whose murder, just after the assassination of JFK, led to the arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald. “In both cases,” Baker wrote, “it was the killing of a police officer that turbocharged the police pursuit—and that, once the suspect was apprehended, convinced the public quickly that the police had their man.” Beyond that, similarities evaporate—yet the memory of Tippit haunts Baker’s theories on the Collier murder. Baker says the official motive given for the Tsarnaevs’ alleged killing of Collier—that they wanted his gun—doesn’t make sense, because no one took Collier’s gun. (The government claims the brothers tried to get the gun out of its holster but failed.) And Baker ascribes an ominous weight to evidence that the FBI was active around MIT’s campus before the chase for the Tsarnaev brothers began—including an October 2013 admission by the Massachusetts State Police and the Boston Police Department that “The Joint Terrorism Task Force was at M.I.T., located in Cambridge, MA, on April 18, 2013, on a matter unrelated to the Tsarnaev brothers.” Baker also cites three unnamed law enforcement officials who told the New York Times in April 2013 that surveillance-camera footage showed two people approaching Collier’s car from behind but did not show their faces. For Baker, these unexplained facts are enough to cast doubt on the official story that the Tsarnaevs killed Collier.

Why is the alleged carjacking victim, “Danny,” still anonymous?

“Danny” is the alias given to the anonymous Chinese immigrant who said the Tsarnaevs carjacked him. He also claimed that Tamerlan confessed to detonating the bombs and killing Collier.

Baker is critical of  Danny’s anonymity and his relationship to Northeastern University criminologist James Alan Fox, who has acted as an intermediary between Danny and the press. Baker calls Fox, who has publicly condemned the Tsarnaevs, “the least curious criminologist I remember encountering in a long time.” Fox, who regularly gives media interviews, tells me that he was asked to assume this role by Danny’s former academic adviser, a fellow Northeastern professor, who knew Fox by reputation. “It wasn’t because I was a criminologist,” he says. “It was because I have a good deal of experience dealing with the media.” Fox concedes that he is unaware of any other sensational case in which a key witness has remained anonymous, but says that question falls outside the scope of his expertise. He likens his role as Danny’s media gatekeeper to one that family members play in high-profile cases, adding that in this case, Danny’s family is in China. Throu

Government Admits It Was Only Behind Destruction Of North Tower
NEWS • Terrorism • Government • 911 • News • ISSUE 51•01 • Jan 6, 2015

Newly declassified documents reveal plans by the Bush Administration and the Project for the New American Century to instill fear in Americans by “destroying the taller, more iconic tower” of the World Trade Center.

WASHINGTON—Saying they felt a duty to reveal what truly transpired on September 11, 2001, numerous high-ranking federal officials announced publicly Tuesday that the United States government was responsible for destroying just the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

Representatives from the Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, and half a dozen other government bureaus revealed at a morning press conference that they were responsible for the development, funding, and execution of a plan to take down 1 World Trade Center in New York’s Financial District. Describing their mission as an unqualified success, officials noted that the completion of their objective was followed 17 minutes later by a separate suicide attack on 2 World Trade Center by al-Qaeda operatives piloting a hijacked airliner.

“The American people deserve to know that, of the two towers that were brought down in Lower Manhattan on 9/11, only one was the target of the federal government,” said CIA spokesman Tom McLennan, emphasizing that their carefully guarded plot was a wholly independent event planned without any foreknowledge of the similar act of terrorism designed by al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden for the same day. “While we freely admit our culpability in striking the first building, let us be clear that we had no hand in destroying the other tower. In fact, that was just as shocking and devastating to us as it was to all American citizens.”

“Aside from our controlled implosion of Tower No. 1, we can assure the public that the September 11 attacks were carried out by Islamic radicals as part of their war against the West,” McLennan added.

According to recently declassified intelligence briefings and memos, FBI agents began making nighttime deliveries of thousands of pounds of RDX explosives to the World Trade Center in January 2001 as part of the first phase of what government officials dubbed Operation North Tower. Detailed schematics confirm that the charges were placed within Tower No. 1 according to an Army Corps of Engineers demolition plan designed to take down the 1,368-foot-tall skyscraper without damaging any of the surrounding structures, including the adjacent Tower No. 2.

In what they described as the most logical cover for their plan to bring down one of the Twin Towers, government officials then outlined their process of guiding a commercial airliner into the building via remote control. Military leaders assured American citizens that while they, in fact, had deployed a black-ops team to Boston’s Logan Airport the night of September 10, 2001 to plant the RC transponder on a single West Coast-bound flight, the aircraft that crashed into 2 World Trade Center the next morning was flown solely by jihadists about whom they had no prior knowledge.

The nation’s leaders also reiterated throughout the briefing that the Mossad agents who initially proposed the plan to the U.S. did not have any involvement in the attack on the South Tower either.

“By ordering NORAD to deactivate the nation’s air defenses on 9/11 we succeeded in clearing a path to Manhattan for our plane, but this apparently created a window of opportunity for five al-Qaeda operatives who, ostensibly, departed on another aircraft just a few minutes after our plane did,” said NSA officer Will Mason, adding that FAA leaders were instructed to delay reporting the radio-controlled airliner’s deviations from its flight path that morning, but immediately began panicking once they noticed the similar behavior of a second aircraft. “No one had any idea who was controlling that other plane. We were celebrating quite a bit after our successful strike, but when the second one hit it pretty much silenced the entire Pentagon Command Center.”

“Obviously, had we been aware that the South Tower was going to be hit, we would have given all Jewish workers advance notice to stay out of that building as well,” he added.

Officials then explained how, on that Tuesday morning, President George W. Bush was quietly informed by an aide during an elementary school appearance that the plan had been carried out with precision, only to be notified just minutes later that the United States was under attack.

“The scripts we had given every major news anchor were pretty much useless after that second impact,” said CIA agent Donald Macy, noting that the highly orchestrated misinformation campaign they had crafted over 10 months only made sense within the original context of one building being targeted. “After that point, any confusion was beyond our doing.”

“Overall, I would say the majority of the terror experienced by the nation that day was caused by somebody other than the U.S. government,” he continued. “We were only behind about half of that.”

U.S. Capitol terror defendant's father says son was taken in by 'snitch'

—Christopher Lee Cornell showed little direction in his life, spending hours playing video games in his bedroom in his parents’ apartment, rarely going out or working, and voicing distrust of the government and the media. But in recent weeks, his parents say, they noticed a change in him.

They thought it was a change for the better: The 20-year-old suburban Cincinnati man was helping his mother around the house, cooking meals, sitting with his parents to watch movies, and talking about having become a Muslim.

“He said, ‘I’m at peace with myself,’” his father, John Cornell, recalled Thursday—a day after his son was arrested in an FBI sting and charged with plotting to attack the U.S. Capitol with pipe bombs and guns and kill government officials.

The arrest came with U.S. counterterrorism authorities on high alert against homegrown extremists and “lone wolves”—disaffected or disturbed individuals who hold radical beliefs but have no direct connection to a terrorist organization.

The bearded, long-haired Cornell was taken into custody outside a gun range and store west of Cincinnati after, the FBI said, he bought two M–15 semi-automatic rifles and 600 rounds of ammunition as part of a plan to go to Washington.

The FBI said he had for months sent social media messages and posted video espousing support for Islamic State militants and for violent attacks by others.

It was unclear from court papers if he had made contact with any terrorist groups.

But in an instant message to an FBI informant, Cornell wrote that he had been in contact with people overseas and that he planned to go ahead with the attack even without specific authorization.

House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio said a controversial government surveillance program was responsible for alerting authorities to the plot. He mentioned FISA, or the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which gives the government authority to eavesdrop under certain conditions.

Cornell, using the online name of Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah, told the informant they should “wage jihad,” authorities said in court papers. He allegedly wrote in an instant message that “we should meet up and make our own group in alliance with the Islamic State here and plan operations ourselves.”

Cornell was jailed for a federal court appearance Friday in Cincinnati. A federal public defender listed as representing him did not immediately respond to messages.

His father called him “a mommy’s boy” taken in by a “snitch” who was trying to help himself.

In court papers, the FBI said the unidentified informant had been cooperating with authorities to obtain “favorable treatment” in an unrelated case, and that the informant made contact with Cornell last August after telling the FBI about the social media posts regarding the Islamic State.

Similar cases in recent years have led to accusations of entrapment. But the FBI has argued such stings are vital for averting deadly terror attacks, and juries have returned tough sentences.

One such case involved an undercover agent pretending to be a terrorist who provided a teenager with a phony car bomb, then watched him plant it in downtown Chicago. In another instance in Boston, a man was sentenced to 17 years in prison for plotting with undercover agents to fly remote-controlled planes packed with explosives into the Pentagon and U.

The Informants
The FBI has built a massive network of spies to prevent another domestic attack. But are they busting terrorist plots—or leading them?
—By Trevor Aaronson | September/October 2011 Issue

JAMES CROMITIE WAS A MAN of bluster and bigotry. He made up wild stories about his supposed exploits, like the one about firing gas bombs into police precincts using a flare gun, and he ranted about Jews. "The worst brother in the whole Islamic world is better than 10 billion Yahudi," he once said.
A 45-year-old Walmart stocker who'd adopted the name Abdul Rahman after converting to Islam during a prison stint for selling cocaine, Cromitie had lots of worries—convincing his wife he wasn't sleeping around, keeping up with the rent, finding a decent job despite his felony record. But he dreamed of making his mark. He confided as much in a middle-aged Pakistani he knew as Maqsood.
"I'm gonna run into something real big," he'd say. "I just feel it, I'm telling you. I feel it."

Maqsood and Cromitie had met at a mosque in Newburgh, a struggling former Air Force town about an hour north of New York City. They struck up a friendship, talking for hours about the world's problems and how the Jews were to blame.
It was all talk until November 2008, when Maqsood pressed his new friend.
"Do you think you are a better recruiter or a better action man?" Maqsood asked.
"I'm both," Cromitie bragged.
"My people would be very happy to know that, brother. Honestly."
"Who's your people?" Cromitie asked.
We analyzed the prosecutions of 508 alleged domestic terrorists. View them by affiliation or state, or play with the full data set.

Maqsood said he was an agent for the Pakistani terror group, tasked with assembling a team to wage jihad in the United States. He asked Cromitie what he would attack if he had the means. A bridge, Cromitie said.
"But bridges are too hard to be hit," Maqsood pleaded, "because they're made of steel."
"Of course they're made of steel," Cromitie replied. "But the same way they can be put up, they can be brought down."
Maqsood coaxed Cromitie toward a more realistic plan. The Mumbai attacks were all over the news, and he pointed out how those gunmen targeted hotels, cafés, and a Jewish community center.
"With your intelligence, I know you can manipulate someone," Cromitie told his friend. "But not me, because I'm intelligent." The pair settled on a plot to bomb synagogues in the Bronx, and then fire Stinger missiles at airplanes taking off from Stewart International Airport in the southern Hudson Valley. Maqsood would provide all the explosives and weapons, even the vehicles. "We have two missiles, okay?" he offered. "Two Stingers, rocket missiles."
Maqsood was an undercover operative; that much was true. But not for Jaish-e-Mohammad. His real name was Shahed Hussain, and he was a paid informant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Ever since 9/11, counterterrorism has been the FBI's No. 1 priority, consuming the lion's share of its budget—$3.3 billion, compared to $2.6 billion for organized crime—and much of the attention of field agents and a massive, nationwide network of informants. After years of emphasizing informant recruiting as a key task for its agents, the bureau now maintains a roster of 15,000 spies—many of them tasked, as Hussain was, with infiltrating Muslim communities in the United States. In addition, for every informant officially listed in the bureau's records, there are as many as three unofficial ones, according to one former high-level FBI official, known in bureau parlance as "hip pockets."
The bureau now maintains a roster of 15,000 spies, some paid as much as $100,000 per case, many of them tasked with infiltrating Muslim communities in the United States.
The informants could be doctors, clerks, imams. Some might not even consider themselves informants. But the FBI regularly taps all of them as part of a domestic intelligence apparatus whose only historical peer might be COINTELPRO, the program the bureau ran from the '50s to the '70s to discredit and marginalize organizations ranging from the Ku Klux Klan to civil-rights and protest groups.
Throughout the FBI’s history, informant numbers have been closely guarded secrets. Periodically, however, the bureau has released those figures. A Senate oversight committee in 1975 found the FBI had 1,500 informants. In 1980, officials disclosed there were 2,800. Six years later, following the FBI’s push into drugs and organized crime, the number of bureau informants ballooned to 6,000, the Los Angeles Times reported in 1986. And according to the FBI, the number grew significantly after 9/11. In its fiscal year 2008 budget authorization request, the FBI disclosed that it it had been been working under a November 2004 presidential directive demanding an increase in "human s

A Former FBI Special Agent Says The CIA Kept Him From Helping To Stop 9/11

JAN. 18, 2015

An FBI special agent who lost his job in 2008 told Newsweek columnist Jeff Stein his story about how the 9/11 hijackers slipped through the cracks at the FBI and CIA more than a decade ago.

Mark Rossini said the CIA prevented him from going to FBI headquarters with the information that two known terrorists, who later went on to carry out the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, had entered the US.

Government reports on 9/11 blame a vague "intelligence failure" for the terrorist attack that killed about 3,000 people in 2001 and provide little clarity on why the CIA didn't communicate crucial information about the hijackers to the FBI. This information, in theory, could have helped the US to prevent the attacks.

Rossini said that after 9/11, when congressional investigators started asking him questions about his work with the CIA's Osama bin Laden unit, he and another FBI agent stayed quiet at the direction of CIA officers.

FBI 9/11 Whistle-blower Coleen Rowley: Post-Charlie Hebdo Massacre Rush to Expand Warrantless Surveillance Counterproductive
Posted Jan. 21, 2015

MP3 Interview with Coleen Rowley, former FBI special agent and 9/11 whistle-blower, conducted by Scott Harris

Europe is still on edge after two brutal terrorist attacks in France that claimed the lives of 17, including 12 at the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and four at a kosher food market. Law enforcement agencies across the continent launched investigations into the links between the terrorist Kouachi brothers and Amedy Coulibaly, who were killed in France, and other groups of violent extremists. Two armed men were killed and 13 others were held for questioning after a raid on an apartment in Belgium, where officials say a local extremist group was planning an imminent attack. Dozens more suspected terrorists and supporters were arrested or detained in France, Germany and Greece.

In the U.S., conservative, mostly Republican politicians quickly used the terrorist attacks in France to counter the calls by many Americans to reform the National Security Agency's blanket surveillance both at home and abroad. After former NSA contractor and whistleblower Edward Snowden revealed the broad scope of the agency's warrantless surveillance programs that monitor phone and electronic communications, some congressional leaders moved to support legislation that would trim back and reform the NSA’s spying power. But after the French terrorist attacks, the climate in Washington appears to be shifting.

GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Bob Corker of Tennessee and Richard Burr of North Carolina were among Republicans who made multiple media appearances to support increased funding and flexibility for the NSA to enhance their power to more effectively connect the dots to prevent a future Charlie Hebdo-like attack in the U.S. Between The Lines’ Scott Harris spoke with Coleen Rowley, a former FBI special agent, who wrote a critical memo and testified before Congress to describe some of the FBI’s pre-9/11 failures. Here, she warns that a rush to expand warrantless dragnet surveillance in response to the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, would be a serious mistake.

For more perspectives on efforts to reform warrantless surveillance and the debate on the most effective approaches to prevent terrorism, see Between The Lines' archives.

Barry McDaniel and 15 Reasons to Investigate Stratesec
Posted on January 25, 2015 by Kevin Ryan
One of the men who led Stratesec, the World Trade Center (WTC) security company, has recently resurfaced on some small business websites. This is Barry McDaniel, the U.S. military executive who served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Stratesec from 1996 until 2002 and then briefly became the company’s CEO. The new websites provide rare photos of McDaniel and an opportunity to review some of the many reasons why he and his Stratesec partner Wirt D. Walker should be investigated for the crimes of 9/11.

Barry2Although McDaniel has been largely overlooked by investigators, Walker has been the focus of much investigation due to inquiries into his familial relationship to George W. Bush. The familial relationship is distant, unlike for Stratesec director Marvin Bush—brother to George W. and Jeb, but Walker’s background reveals many deep state connections.

Despite playing a central role in security for 9/11-related facilities, Stratesec was not investigated at all by U.S. authorities after 9/11. The company was a subsidiary of the Kuwait-American Company (KuwAm), foreign-owned and led by Walker and a young member of the Kuwaiti royal family. As described in my book Another Nineteen, there are many reasons to consider Stratesec, KuwAm, and their leaders as suspects in the crimes of 9/11. Here are a few.

Stratesec had unparalleled access to several of the facilities that were central to the events of 9/11. The company had pre-9/11 security contracts with the WTC complex, United Airlines, which owned two of the planes that were destroyed on 9/11, and Dulles Airport where American Airlines Flight 77 took off.
KuwAm was linked through its directors to the terrorist network BCCI. One of KuwAm’s principal directors, Hamzah Behbehani, came to the company after working for a BCCI partner bank from the 1986 until BCCI was shut down. Furthermore, KuwAm was ostensibly funded by Kuwaiti royalty, which had significant BCCI connections. The Chairman of Kuwaiti Airways, for example, was Faisal al-Fulaij, BCCI’s principal nominee. Al-Fulaij was deeply involved in the operations of BCCI and its U.S. subsidiaries. Kuwait’s Finance and Oil minister was Abdul Rahman Al-Atiqi, a major investor in BCCI.
Stratesec held its annual company meetings in office space leased by the governments of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, both of which benefited from the response to 9/11. The offices were at the infamous Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC.
Wirt Walker’s activities ran parallel to those of two known CIA operatives—Ted Shackley and Robert Sensi. All three men had unusual business relationships with Kuwaiti royalty and were involved in aviation and security operations. Like Walker, Sensi had an address in Oklahoma City.
McDaniel had expertise in the acquisition and distribution of military ordnance. He had worked for the D.O.D. as the Deputy Director for Readiness at the U.S. Army Material Command where he was responsible for procuring and fielding all of the weapons systems for the Army. This background made him well suited to the job of acquiring and distributing explosive materials.
McDaniel had links to the Iran-Contra crimes and to companies that conducted covert operations, like Sears World Trade and The Vinnell Corporation.
The timing of McDaniel’s unusual career move to become COO at Stratesec matched the timing of work at the WTC that provided opportunities to plant demolition-related devices. The fireproofing upgrade project began in 1996, when McDaniel arrived, and was ongoing at the time of the 9/11 attacks. The floors of impact had just been completed shortly before the attacks.
At the WTC, Stratesec focused on electronic badging, security gates, and the closed circuit video systems (CCTV). These security controls could therefore have been set-up to be bypassed as needed.
At Dulles Airport, Stratesec had managed airfield access and electronic badging, as well as the security video system that later provided unique and critical evidence implicating the alleged hijackers. The 9/11 Commission Report referenced the security videotape from Dulles in three separate footnotes. The Dulles video was used to implicate all of the accused Flight 77 hijackers. Neither Logan nor Newark airports had such security videotape evidence to provide— only Dulles.
KuwAm and Stratesec were led by directors and investors who were linked to deep state entities and who benefited from the response to the 9/11 crimes.
After Kuwait stopped funding Stratesec, the company’s primary stockholder was a shell company whose principals were convicted of money laundering and conspiracy. This was the company called ES Bankest that illegally transferred nearly 200 million dollars from a Portugese bank to various operations like Stratesec. ES Bankest’s owners, brothers Eduardo and Hector Orlansky, and their partners, were indicted shortly after Stratesec closed.
A stock purchase made by Walker and his wife, the week of 9/11, was flagged by the SEC as suspected 9/11 insider trading. Walker and his wife were never investigated, or even questioned.
KuwAm’s subsidiaries, including all three aviation companies and Stratesec, went bankrupt shortly after 9/11 and there are reasons to believe that they were fronts for covert operations. These reasons include some of the facts described above and that these companies were always able to maintain strong cash flow despite dismal business performance. They appeared to close only because Kuwaiti government funding dried up after 9/11.
KuwAm’s three aviation companies were operationally located in the same Oklahoma City offices—in the same isolated airport hangar—that have since been occupied by Zacarias Moussaoui’s flight trainer.
After 9/11, McDaniel started a “defense solutions” and police state equipment company with Dick Cheney’s old partner Bruce Bradley. When independent investigators revealed that remarkable association, the company’s website was taken down.
Considering these things, it’s a good idea for investigators to remain alert to the activities of Walker, McDaniel, and their associates. Photos of the elusive men are not really necessary and there are still no public photos available for Walker. But McDaniel’s face has finally made an appearance on the web, along with a few other details about his activities and associations.

McDaniel’s current colleagues are a noteworthy bunch with experience in hotspots around the world. They include Kallyan Chakravorty, a former officer in the Indian Army who lists Skylink Aviation on his resume. Skylink is a Canadian company that provides aviation services in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Pakistan. It looks a like a CIA airline but is owned by a Libyan-Israeli named Walter Arbib.

The internet resume McDaniel uses today says that he has been “providing logistical service and construction solutions on most post conflict areas of the world including Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.” He’s just a guy who happened to be the right person to put the security system together for the WTC before it came crashing to the ground, and just happened to have expertise in explosive ordnance. He also happens to be linked to the Iran-Contra crimes, and happened to be business partners with a close colleague of Dick Cheney. Or maybe there’s more to it than that.

The mysterious death of Alberto Nisman

By Adriano Mérola Marotta |

On 18 July 1994, the headquarters of the Israeli Argentinian

The Hizbullah/Iran allegation came to the fore in 2005, but its origins came from the collaboration of US and Israeli security services, with the FBI claiming Hizbullah involvement. This indictment coincided with the escalating low-intensity war between Israel and Hizbullah, which ended in Israel’s invasion of Lebanon and the subsequent 2006 Qana massacre. Similarly, the Iran ‘connection’ coincided with President Ahmadinejad’s first year in office in Iran and the escalation of US-led sanctions.

The lack of clear motive (why would Hizbullah or Iran target a community centre in Argentina?) and the dubious motivations of the sources of the original claims (the US and Israel), pose a conundrum.

At least, they did until Wikileaks confirmed the politicized nature of Nisman’s investigation. The Wikileaks cables of 2011 revealed that Alberto Nisman had been working extensively with the US embassy on the AMIA case, and that the US had had a direct role in providing the key leads in the investigation.

The key information connecting Iran and AMIA had come from the US via ex-Director of Counterintelligence of the Argentine Intelligence Services (SI), Antonio ‘Jaime’ Stiusso.

An infamous intelligence agent who rose to power during the repressive US-backed military junta of 1976-82, Stiusso was a central operative in the ‘gestapo-like’ business of the SI, allegedly linked to the drug trade. Known for his extensive surveillance of prominent politicians, judges and journalists,he retired, along with his staff, the week before Nisman’s death.

The Wikileaks cables revealed that Nisman was regularly reporting his findings to the US embassy and correcting them accordingly.

In fact, although evidence exists of Argentinian or Syrian agents playing a role in the 1994 attack, the FBI is reported to have ordered Nisman to only blame Iran: ‘Do not aim at the Syrian lead or the local connection. Following these leads could weaken the international case against the accused Iranians.’

Nisman’s indictment against President Kirchner came after she signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran in 2013 in order to establish a truth commission and allow Argentinian prosecutors access to Iranian sources for their investigations.

According to Nisman, Kirchner was ready to absolve Iran of guilt in order to procure bilateral trade agreements with the country (although no trade agreement was ever signed, and trade in fact decreased between the countries following the memorandum).

This was the turning point for Nisman, who indicted the president for aiding the alleged Iranian culprits. He was set to disclose further evidence in his case against the president on 19 January, the day he was murdered.

The deceased prosecutor’s investigation into the AMIA attack had hardly been an impartial or rigorous inquest, yet his death has validated suspicions that the president was desperate to avoid any more information being released.

With Argentinian general elections coming up later this year, the rightwing press has been doing its utmost to undermine the legitimacy of the Kirchner presidency.

The rightwing opposition, the Radical Civic Union, was quick to mobilize its supporters after Nisman’s death, calling for the president’s r

Former CIA Official Lied in Boston Bombing Cover-Up
Posted on January 28, 2015 by

Boston Marathon bombingFormer top CIA official Graham Fuller lied in a press interview about his former son-in-law, Ruslan Tsarni, the uncle of “The Brothers Tsarnaev,” Tamerlan, now dead, and Dzhokhar, soon to go on trial in Boston for allegedly planting a homemade pressure-cooker bomb packed with shrapnel near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

“A story on the Internet implying possible connections between Ruslan (Tsarni) and the Agency through me is absurd,” Fuller said in an Apr 27 2013 story headlined “Former CIA officer: ‘Absurd’ to link uncle of Boston suspects, Agency,” in Washington-D.C.-based Al-Monitor, which bills itself as the “Pulse of the Middle East.”

fuller (3)Fuller was responding to an exclusive report published here headlined “Was Boston Bombers ‘Uncle Ruslan’ with the CIA?”,which he and reporter Laura Rosen churlishly refused to credit, calling it merely a “story on the Internet” even as they labored to debunk it. Yet it was reported and re-published so widely in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon terror attack that Fuller felt compelled to respond.

Well, compelled to respond may be a little strong. Still, respond he did, in an interview which marshalled arguments to indicate questioning whether Ruslan Tsarni’s connection with the CIA had been through his famous former father-in-law were not just an exercise in futility. They were absurd.

tsarni (7)Just to be clear, there is zero evidence to indicate either Uncle Ruslan Tsarni or the CIA hired the Tsarnaev Brothers to blow up Boston. There is, however, abundant evidence that elements of the U.S. Government have been playing footsie with Chechen terrorists, presumably to divert Russia from committing the kind of rash Neo-Communist Gangster stuff they’d be doing already unless we’re very very careful.

Here’s a troubling question: If it was blow-back from that campaign which blew up in Boston—throwing covert U.S. support at Chechen terrorists—do you think anyone in the U.S. Government is eager to let the American people in on that no-doubt classified-for-reasons-of-national-security secret?

Why, the very idea seems—to use Mr. Fuller’s word—absurd.
Uncle Ruslan meets ‘the boys’

bcIn his interview, Graham Fuller admitted that a second bombshell disclosure in an exclusive Apr 26, 2013, report headlined Boston bombers’ uncle married daughter of top CIA official, also was true: The Tsarnaev Brothers’ uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, was his former son-in-law.

Tsarni was married to Graham Fuller’s daughter Samantha between 1994 and sometime near the dawn of the millenium, Fuller grudgingly admitted. Still, he insisted, without explanation, that suggestions that law enforcement should be checking to see if Ruslan Tsarni had “hooked up” with the CIA through Fuller were “absurd.”

It was an odd assertion. At the very moment he was making it, investigators with the FBI—who remained convinced the Tsarnaev Brothers had outside help and support—were in an intensive manhunt to find foreign connections to the case. Asking questions about links between Ruslan, the CIA, and the bombers would not be seen as out of bounds. Or would they?

Of course, statements by former top CIA officials should be taken with a large grain of salt. Double the salt allowance if the “former” official is still engaged in intrigue in Central Asia.
Hannibal crosses the Alps; Fuller fords his Rubicon

imagesAnd that’s before discounting fstill further for being widely and infamously known as the man who convinced the Reagan Administration that it would be a neat idea to send a callow Marine Lt. Col. named Oliver North with a cake under one arm and some TOW missiles under the other to a meet-and-greet in Tehran with the Ayatollah.

But back to the body blows being thrown against the credibility of anyone with the temerity of reporting the obvious…

“Fuller retired from the agency almost a decade before the brief marriage,” sniffed Laura Rosen, the reporter selected to give him a sympathetic hearing.

YFASHION1-popup“I, of course, retired from CIA in 1987,” Fuller offered helpfully, suggesting his Agency past had receded into the far reaches of recorded history, a dimly-remembered time located somewhere just this side of Hannibal crossing the Alps.

If Fuller retired, moved to Florida, and taken up golf while decked out in the vibrant hues of lime-green and canary-yellow sweater-slack combinations favored in the Florida golfing fraternity, he might have a point.

That was not, alas, how Fuller chose to spend his dwindling years. Even today he keeps stirring the pot in Central Asia, a long-time player in what previous generations called the Great Game.

He’s a consultant at Rand Corp; and he’s written a prodigious number of books with Great-Game-y titles: “Turkey & the Arab Spring;” “The Arab Shia’a;” “The Future of Political Islam;” “Turkey’s Kurdish Question;” “The Geopolitics of Islam & the West. “
Kazakh-style crony capitalism, illustrated

maxresdefaultRuslan Tsarni’s former father-in-law isn’t his only link to the CIA. There’s also his decades-long work history, discovered in a press release from a dodgy oil-related company with no assets and a ridiculous name whose President had been somehow lured away from a life-long career with Halliburton.

It reveals that Tsarni had worked in Central Asia for the Agency for International Development (USAID)—a U.S. Government Agency often used for cover by the CIA, including a two-year stint in the former Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan during the “Wild West” days of the early 1990’s, when anything that wasn’t nailed down in that country was up for grabs.

379-cia-usaid-1At a time when vast natural resources and enormous fortunes were ‘in play’ during the economic free-for-all in the “Stans” after the collapse of the Soviet Union, 24-year old Ruslan Tsarni was already a ‘player.’

Ruslan Tsarni is once again working (since 2010) working for USAID. Oddly enough, Russia, the country competing with the US for influence in the region, unceremoniously kicked USAID out of the country just months before the Boston Bombing terror attack, for, according to a Putin spokesmen, encouraging his political opposition.
Ruslan Tsarni & the Congress of Chechen International Organizations

tsarni (1)In his interview with Laura Rosen, Fuller uncorked a whopper. Said Fuller,“Like all Chechens, Ruslan was very concerned about his native land, but I saw no particular involvement in politics [although] he did try to contact other Chechens around.”

Perhaps Fuller felt that no one would notice. Perhaps he felt immune to fact-checking, a sentiment common among Reagan-era CIA officials. But whatever his motivation, he has been caught in a provable lie. Ruslan Tsarni, as Fuller well knows, has been up to his neck in Central Asian political intrigue for decades.

An undated still image taken from video shows the address of Chechen rebels, led by Emir of the Caucasus Doku Umarov

On August 17,1995, while Ruslan Tsarni and Graham Fuller’s daughter Samantha were still virtual newlyweds, Tsarni incorporated a company in Maryland called the “Congress of Chechen International Organizations.”

Ruslan Tsarni was listed as the company’s resident agent. The group sent aid to Islamic terrorists in Chechnya, including thousands of pairs of combat boots, coordinating its efforts with another so-called “charity,” Benevolence International, designated “financiers of terrorism” by the Treasury Department before being shut down by US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

The company’s listed address, 11114 Whisperwood Ln. Rockville MD., was the home address of former top CIA official s Graham Fuller.

Today, the home remains listed in his wife’s name.
“An impromptu press conference aired live on network television”

bost (2)With worldwide attention on the upcoming trial of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, what facts could possibly be being deliberately de-selected and hidden from view?

In “Long Mile Home” a book about the Boston Marathon Bombing by two Boston Globe reporters, everything they have to say about Ruslan Tsarni isn’t much:

“On the Friday morning after Tamerlan was killed, with police still hunting for Dzhokhar, investigators and reporters found their uncle, Ruslan Tsarni, a corporate attorney living outside Washington D.C.

When he emerged after speaking to FBI agents inside his home, he walked up to television cameras and reporters gathered outside looking for the latest in what had become the biggest story in the world. In an impromptu press conference aired live on network television, Tsarni offered condolences to the bombing victims, denounced his nephews, and ordered Dzhokhar to turn himself in.

Asked to explain what provoked the brothers to attack, Tsarni said, “Being losers. Hatred for those who were able to settles themselves. These are the only reasons I can imagine. Anything else—anything to do with religion, with Islam –that’s a fraud. It’s a fake.”

Asked how he felt about the United States, Tsarni said, “I respect this country. I love this country.”

An opinion writer for the Washington Post called his words “inspiring,” and said his press conference was “a moment we all needed.”

The New Yorker said he “looked like he might hunt his nephew down himself.”

That’s it. That’s everything they wrote about Ruslan Tsarni. Nothing about his work overseas for USAID. Nothing about being the former son-in-law of a top CIA official, or about running an organization out of his house that was sending aid to Chechen terrorists. Most of all nothing about his being—at the same time he was calling his nephews “losers”— a guy involved, according to the London Telegraph, in the biggest bank fraud in history.

By anyone’s standards, that’s a lot not to report. The authors must be proud.
“Uncle” Ruslan Tsarni is the elephant in the living room

download (1)“News,” someone once wrote, “is selection.”

And selection is always based on an ideology and an agenda. Just something to remember the next time you’re reading, or watching, the ‘news.’

As jury selection proceeds in Boston in the upcoming trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the most pressing question about the attack remains one which is so obvious even Time Magazine is asking it: Did They Really Act On Their Own?

The logical place to start would be with Uncle Ruslan, who’s been married to the daughter of a former top CIA official who remains a”player” in Central Asia’s Great Game. But, of course, it ain’t gonna happen.

hittersWhether by accident or design, Ruslan Tsarni played the same role in the aftermath of the Boston terror attack played after the 9/11 terror attack by Rudi Dekkers, manager of Mohamed Atta’s flight school in Venice. And just like Rudi Dekkers before him, his pronouncements were received uncritically.

The mainstream media fawned all over him. He was soon being called “Uncle Ruslan. He became the primary go-to source on the suspects, peddling his brief about the perfidy and all-around loser nature of his two nephews, one of whom, who he’d helped raise and bring to America, had just been killed in a hail of gunfire with police.

There were no tears for Uncle Ruslan. He was “protected,” and no doubt glad for it.

tsarni (7)When Graham Fuller fibbed about Ruslan’s political activities, was it out of personal loyalty, or in support of a larger operation which had Ruslan Tsarni leading every 24-hour news cycle for more than a week during the biggest story of the year? Is there anyone in America who still thinks this happens by accident?

What does this say about the CIA

Physical Law Excludes Official Explanation of a Streak of Light Near TWA 800
Posted on June 11, 2011
The FBI interviewed 182 people who reported seeing a rising streak of light in the sky moments before TWA Flight 800 exploded into a ball of flames off the coast of Long Island, NY in July of 1996. Most of these witnesses said the streak exploded at its apex which was where the jetliner was traveling. Some saw it hit the aircraft.

Federal investigators said the rising streak was the plane itself climbing sharply after exploding, but the law of conservation of energy doesn’t allow for such a climb because the FAA radar sites that tracked the jet did not record a necessary reduction in airspeed. According to this physical law, jetliners climbing in a gravitational field must either be propelled by adequate thrust or slow down. A 747 does not have enough thrust to climb anywhere close to the 12,000 feet per minute shown in government animations, so the only way Flight 800 could have climbed that steeply would have been to tap into its kinetic energy by decelerating.

In August of 2000, the National Transportation Safety Board concluded that a spark ignited fuel vapors inside Flight 800’s nearly empty central fuel tank, blowing the front wall of the tank forward which then punched a hole in the belly of the plane. Then about four seconds later according to the Safety Board, the fuselage unzipped starting at this hole and around the entire circumference of the wide body jet, causing the front section of the aircraft to separate from the rear.

As the front section fell to the ocean, officials claim that the resulting weight imbalance caused the rest of the jet, wings included, to begin a steep climb. According to Safety Board Eyewitness Group Chairman Dr. David Mayer at the final public hearing on the crash in 2000, the streak of light seen by eyewitnesses “may have been the accident airplane in crippled flight.”

CIA Video
Still frame taken from the CIA animation of TWA Flight 800, released on November 18th, 1997.
The idea that Flight 800 climbed after exploding was first proposed in 1997 by a team at the CIA that created an animation entitled “TWA Flight 800: What Did the Eyewitnesses See?”. The FBI held a nationally televised press conference to present the animation, which showed the jetliner climbing 3000 feet and trailing flames. During the animated climb, the CIA narrator said “this may have looked like a missile attacking an aircraft.”

However, FAA radar sites recorded the aircraft maintaining its airspeed when the CIA said it was climbing sharply–two mutually exclusive phenomena.

The law of conservation of energy excluded the climb

In theory, Flight 800 could have climbed sharply. Stunt pilots regularly perform such climbs by exchanging airspeed for altitude. A stunt plane’s kinetic energy (one half the mass of the aircraft times the square of its velocity) is converted into potential ene

Israeli False Flags and the Attack on Rev. Stephen Sizer
JANUARY 31, 2015

At the time, Israel’s founding fathers were some of the most brutal terrorists around. Two former Israeli prime ministers, Yitzhak Shamir and Menachem Begin, were leaders of Jewish terrorist militias which waged a merciless insurgency against the indigenous Arabs of Palestine as well as the British colonial administrators of the land in the 1940s.

By Brandon Martinez

The counterfeit hoopla surrounding the Charlie Hebdo ‘free speech’ saga was further undermined this week when a prominent British vicar posted an article on Facebook linking Israel to the 9/11 attacks, for which he is now ‘under investigation.’

Israeli False Flags and the Attack on Rev. Stephen Sizer
The Revd Dr Stephen Sizer
Stephen Sizer, a well-known reverend of Christ Church, Virginia Water, posted the Wikispooks article “9/11: Israel Did It” on Facebook and subsequently asked, “Is this [research] anti-Semitic?”

“It raises so many questions,” he added.

Sizer eventually removed the post under mounting pressure from his Diocese and Britain’s Jewish lobby, but affirmed his right to freedom of speech and inquiry.

“It is essential the public become convinced of what happened before and after 9/11,” Sizer told Jewish News Online. “Inevitably the truth will upset many people if it is shown by further investigation that the official explanations are shown to be deficient.” Suppressing discussion of Israel’s role in 9/11 will only “fuel suspicion,” the outspoken preacher stressed.

Sizer is barking up the right tree, hence the frenzied reaction from Zionists and those under their sway.

Mainstream outlets such as the BBC, The Telegraph, The Daily Mirror as well as a number of overt Zionist sources piled on the principled man of god by running identical smear stories about this manufactured ‘scandal.’ The articles in question emphasize that Sizer is ‘being investigated’ for the posting, as if it is a crime to promote an article that calls attention to Israeli false flag terrorism. The hit-pieces also prominently quote a spokesman from the Board of Deputies of British Jews, a thuggish Zionist hate-gang who have attacked Sizer as an ‘anti-Semite’ on numerous occasions. But none of the articles or the Israeli fifth columnists they champion addresses the evidence of Israel’s involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

Israel’s fingerprints do indeed appear to be all over the events of 9/11. And judging by the Zionist state’s past behaviour, it should not come as a surprise to learn that 9/11 was in some way organized by Israel’s secret agencies who have on plenty of previous occasions executed false flag attacks aimed at framing their Arab/Muslim adversaries, thereby inducing adverse reactions towards their foes from the West.

A History of Deception

At the time, Israel’s founding fathers were some of the most brutal terrorists around. Two former Israeli prime ministers, Yitzhak Shamir and Menachem Begin, were leaders of Jewish terrorist militias which waged a merciless insurgency against the indigenous Arabs of Palestine as well as the British colonial administrators of the land in the 1940s. Benjamin Netanyahu’s father, Benzion Netanyahu, was the personal secretary for Vladimir Jabotinsky, the brains behind the bellicose ‘Revisionist’ fold within the Zionist movement which formulated the ideological framework of the Zionist militant groups who eventually besieged Palestine, destroying more than 500 Arab villages and driving out a minimum of 750,000 Palestinians in a matter of two years, from 1946 to 1948.

In 1946, two years before Israel became a state, Irgun assailants carried out an attack on the King David Hotel which housed Britain’s administrative headquarters in the Mandate of Palestine. Jewish militants under the direction of Begin disguised themselves as Arabs and planted a number of bombs hidden in milk crates in the hotel’s basement, then detonated them causing a huge explosion which leveled a good chunk of the building. Ninety-one people were killed in the blast, including dozens of British personnel. “I’m glad to have been a terrorist for liberation,” said one Jewish Irgunist in a BBC documentary about the bombing. “We didn’t mind being called terrorists then,” another former Irgun militant confessed.

A competing Zionist terrorist faction, the Stern Gang (also known as Lehi), assassinated British soldiers as well as multiple foreign diplomats and mediators such as Sweden’s Count Folke Bernadotte. That group, originally headed by the Jewish supremacist Avraham Stern, even proposed a military alliance with Nazi Germany in 1941, viewing Britain as a greater roadblock to a Jewish ethno-state in Palestine than Hitler’s regime which was quite happy to expedite the re-settlement of Germany’s Jews to the Middle East.

Fast-forward to 1954 – Israel again initiates a false flag conspiracy in the region, this time in Egypt. A terrorist cell of Zionist mercenaries was discovered in Cairo and Alexandria after they tried and failed to detonate incendiary devices in British and American installations. The Israeli operatives were discovered after one of the conspirators prematurely discharged an incendiary device in his pocket, leading to his arrest and the capture of the whole cabal. The Israeli terrorists later confessed to Egyptian authorities that the provocation was planned, organized and directed by Tel Aviv. The operation was intended to stymie a burgeoning British-American-Egyptian rapport and derail ongoing negotiations between Egypt and Britain which would have seen the British relinquish control of the Suez Canal, much to Israel’s displeasure. It was later dubbed the “Lavon Affair.”

Analyst Richard H. Curtiss, writing in a 1992 article for the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, observed that Israel had in the works an identical subterfuge against Jordan the same year, wherein Israeli intelligence “conceived a plan to attack British personnel seconded to King Hussein’s government in Jordan.” “The purpose,” Curtiss explained, “was to sour relations between Britain and Jordan [as well as turn] both Jordan and Britain [against] Egypt, which would be blamed for such attacks.” Curtiss cited a 1979 book, The Untold History of Israel, by Israeli journalists Jacques Derogy and Hesi Carmel which related the story.

The Lavon Affair was not the first, nor would it be the last Israeli covert operation aimed at framing Arabs for terrorism against the West. In 1967, during the Six Day War between Israel and several Arab states, the Israeli military attacked an American surveillance ship, the USS Liberty, in international waters. Israeli warplanes and torpedo boats besieged the vessel for hours, even shooting holes in the large American flag billowing in the wind. Having scoped out the ship hours beforehand, the Israelis were well aware it was American. As a result of Israel’s heinous attack, more than 200 American sailors were dead or wounded. The motive of the blitz was to sink the Liberty, thereby preventing it from relaying messages back to Washington which could have scuttled Israeli plans to seize land from Egypt and Syria during the six-day conflict. If the ship had been successfully destroyed, Israel would have most likely attributed the attack to its Arab foes. The Israelis later captured the Sinai and Golan Heights from Egypt and Syria respectively. Unfortunately for the Israelis, the Liberty did not sink and survivors revealed Israel’s hand behind the attack.

In his books By Way of Deception and The Other Side of Deception former Mossad katsa Victor Ostrovsky revealed a litany of Israeli covert operations. One clear example of Israeli chicanery that Ostrovsky exposed was a 1986 plot code named ‘Operation Trojan’ which saw Mossad agents plant a transponder device on Libyan soil that relayed false coded messages making it look like the Libyan government was coordinating terrorists from their embassies worldwide to attack American targets. Simultaneously a bomb explosion rocked a Berlin nightclub frequented by US military personnel, killing two US servicemen. The Mossad deception successfully coerced a hoodwinked US President Ronald Reagan into launching air strikes on Libya, who cited the fake ‘terrorist’ transmissions emanating from a Mossad device as proof of Libyan culpability in the nightclub attack.

The Israelis are also implicated in the 1998 US embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. An investigative report on the World Socialist Web Site entitled “Questions mount in Kenya, Tanzania bombings” detailed US/Israeli foreknowledge of the attacks. The article, authored by Martin McLaughlin, cites reports from ABC News and Haaretz which affirmed that Israeli intelligence elements caused US officials to ignore warnings of an imminent attack against the embassies. US intelligence officials looked to their Israeli colleagues to diagnose the reliability of various warnings of looming danger, but the Israelis insisted they weren’t serious, resulting in no precautions being taken to defend against an assault.

“Four months worth of tips and alert signals that the Nairobi embassy was facing a potential disastrous explosives attack were sent to Washington,” wrote Warren Hough in a report for the American newspaper The Spotlight. “But nothing was done to protect this poorly shielded facility because, on the standard operating procedure inaugurated in the Reagan era, the FBI had to turn to the Israelis for a definite evaluation of these early warnings.”

“Ignore them, it’s just another false alarm,” Mossad told their counterparts in the CIA. The imprudent Israeli advice, Hough explained in the aforesaid article, “was the key factor in persuading the U.S. to let its guard down, resulting in the loss of life of at least 250 victims including 11 Americans.”

Israel didn’t seem to believe its own counsel. According to researcher Ralph Schoenman, the first soldie

COLUMN: The FBI is great at disrupting (its own) 'terror plots'

Saturday, February 7 2015
On Jan. 14 the U.S. Department of Justice announced that the Joint Terrorism Task Force had disrupted the latest "domestic terrorism plot" - this time by "a Cincinnati-area man ... to attack the U.S. Capital and kill government officials." House Speaker John Boehner immediately cited the disrupted plot as evidence that Congress should think carefully before refusing to renew the NSA's bulk data collection powers. Only it turns out the feds had at least as much to do with hatching the plot as did the alleged plotter, Christopher Cornell.

The FBI investigator became aware of Cornell's pro-ISIS comments on Twitter thanks to a tip-off from an unnamed informant who "began cooperating with the FBI in order to obtain favorable treatment with respect to his criminal exposure on an unrelated case." The informant, on FBI orders, arranged two meetings with Cornell where they discussed attacks on the capital, after which the FBI arrested him to "prevent" the attacks. In other words, it identified Cornell as a suspect entirely on the basis of his expression of radical political opinions, with the help of a jailhouse snitch who rolled over in response to prosecutorial blackmail. And the actual "plot" was worked out only in subsequently arranged meetings in which one party - working for the FBI - may well have been leading Cornell. It wasn't for nothing that ecological activist Judi Bari said "the first person to mention bringing dynamite is probably a fed."

In this the Cornell case has a lot in common with a great many other so-called "domestic terrorism plots" federal law enforcement has "disrupted," going back to the Lackawanna Six. A good example is the so-called "plot" of the Newburgh Four, who supposedly plotted to blow up synagogues and attack a military base. The judge commented that the government "came up with the crime, provided the means and removed all relevant obstacles," in the process making a terrorist out of a man "whose buffoonery is positively Shakespearean in scope" ("US: Terrorism Prosecutions Often An Illusion," Human Rights Watch, July 21, 2014).

This reminds me of a story I read - from Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams, I think - about a software company that offered programmers a bonus for every bug they detected in code. Predictably, creating bugs to "detect" became a major source of revenue for employees. H.L. Mencken once remarked on government's tendency "to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."

We see this in the dismaying, Starship Troopers-like media narrative involving any and all armed government personnel in uniform. Last weekend's highest U.S. box office receipts came not from "Selma" (the story of oppressed people organizing to fight for their freedom), but from "American Sniper." The latter movie glorifies a vile wretch who gloated over all the "savages" (his word for any male age 16 to 60) he murdered in Iraq, on the grounds that he was saving American troops from being shot at. Never mind that the people in Iraq were shooting back at an invading army in their own country. Domestically, we see the same phenomenon with shows like "COPS" and local news coverage of police in paramilitary gear (breathlessly referred to as "the authorities" by nitwit reporters) storming alleged "meth labs."

And remember, the very concept of a "sting operation" (also known as "entrapment") invokes the principle that some human beings are superior to the law. The first professional police forces were justified on the grounds that they were simply being paid to exercise the same posse comitatus powers of "citizen's arrest" possessed by any other member of society. By that standard, i

Nagging questions on US role in Mamasapano mission
02/13/2015 2:54

MANILA - Questions persist over the true role of the United States in the events leading up to the deadly encounter in Mamasapano and in the immediate aftermath.
Did the US provide all or part of the intelligence that formed the basis for the ill-fated Special Action Force operation?
Were its operatives involved in the planning of the mission and in its execution?
And why were personnel of the Federal Bureau of Investigation apparently ready to receive evidence after the clash went so horribly wrong?
In his first nationwide address after the Mamasapano incident, President Aquino said the government had received "actionable intelligence" around which the Mamasapano mission was built.
He said authorities had found not just the region, province or municipality but the very houses in which terror suspects Zulkifli bin Hir, alias Marwan, and Basit Usman were hiding.
In his statement at the Senate on Monday, relieved PNP-SAF commander Getulio Napenas Jr. said resigned PNP chief Alan Purisima told him last November to work with Police Supt. Fernando Mendez, director of the PNP Intelligence Group, on the use of the intelligence.
Napenas was told the PNP had an agent in the area and that the "intelligence packet" was subjected to long studies and served as the basis for the planning of the mission.
US Embassy Spokesman Kurt Hoyer has said the United States did not provide any intelligence to Philippine authorities in connection with the Mamasapano operation.
But several military sources have told The World Tonight Washington was in fact involved in the hunt for the two terrorists "from Day One."

The ABS-CBN News team learned from local residents that American soldiers were seen frequenting a private resort in Calarian, Zamboanga City a few days before the Maguindanao encounter,
The La Vista Del Mar resort in Calarian is located near the camp of the 84th Special Action Seaborne Company. It is believed the plan to attack Marwan's lair was hatched there last month.
But the resort's owner, Zamboanga City Rep. Celso Lobregat, said he has no idea if these reports are true.
The SAF camp has also remained closed since the Mamasapano incident.

What about reports that unidentified Americans took part in the actual operation?
In the days following the clash, remarks attributed to a spokesman of human rights group Suara Bangsamoro quoted a Mamasapano farmer as saying he saw the body of a Caucasian after the fighting.
But both the US Embassy and the Department of Foreign Affairs denied that any US soldier participated in the encounter.
"At the request of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, US service members serving in JSOTF-P (Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines) responded to assist in evacuation of dead and wounded after the firefight in Maguindanao," U.S. Embassy spokesman Kurt Hoyer said in a statement.
Hoyer said Americans only provided help in evacuating the dead and the wounded.
Several Americans were photographed in the area that day, dressed in civilian clothes and using civilian aircraft.

What about speculation that the operation was monitored by drones?
Several media reports quote anonymous sources as saying there was an "eye in the sky" tracking developments on the ground in real time.
A member of the assault team, Senior Inspector Recaredo Marasigan, was even quoted as saying: "The source of the real-time intelligence was both technical and human."
At Tuesday's Senate hearing, Mamasapano Mayor Datu Benzar Ampatuan said he had seen some kind of white aircraft hovering over the town. But he could not confirm that it was, indeed, a drone.
"May lumilipad po na eroplanong puti. Hindi po natin masabi kung drone or kung ano. Paikot-ikot po," he said.
Napenas has told senators no request was made to the US for drones, and that the PNP has no such high-tech gadgets. Yet a military source has told The World Tonight, the non-lethal white phosphorus delivered by artillery in order to drive the attackers away can only be unleashed with the aid of a drone.

Adding another layer to the mystery surrounding the US role is the revelation that FBI agents were already in General Santos City two days after the clash, waiting for the turnover of physical evidence from Marwan's body.
Interior Secretary Mar Roxas told senators the sample did not pass through the PNP, and PNP officials could not provide a definitive answer as to how the sample ended up in the FBI's hands.
Police Director Benjamin Magalong, PNP Board of Inquiry chief, said he was told FBI personnel were standing by in General Santos City the Tuesday after the clash to receive the sample.
FBI spokesman Josh Campbell said the agency had no prior knowledge of the Mamasapano raid. But the circumstances beg the following questions:
Who coordinated the turnover of the sample, and on whose orders?
At what point was that coordination made?
How were FBI agents deployed so quickly?
Pressed by senators, Napenas said he would only provide answers in executive session.

The agenda was APPROVED.

Reconsider scope and focus of Teleconference

The main focus of the call was discussion of whether the scope of the Teleconference be broadened beyond 9/11 to include other related subjects. There was a consensus that this would be a good direction for the Teleconference to take. The product of deception
False-flag operations
Concerned with who really controls the "enemy"
concerned with the influence of Zionism/dual nationality
Gladio B
Controlled media/disinformation
the Deep State

Attorney: Sealed Documents Indicate OKC Inside Job
FBI, defense team files identify government informants directing McVeigh

Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones
Prison Planet
Friday, February 23, 2007

Declaration of Terry Lynn Nichols

Declaration of David Paul Hammer

Motion for an order allowing the videotaped depositions of David Paul Hammer and Terry Lynn Nichols

The attached exhibits to the declarations mainly consist of FBI source materials and have been placed under seal by the court and are not part of the public record.

The attorney who was able to obtain a declaration from Terry Nichols fingering an FBI agent as directing Timothy McVeigh says that the documents attached to the affidavit indicate that the Oklahoma City bombing was an inside job.

"I didn't start out to solve the Oklahoma City bombing, I started out to find out who killed my brother and why," Jesse Trentadue told the Alex Jones Show.

In January 1996, Trentadue received an anonymous phone call telling him that his brother Kenneth had been murdered by the FBI in a case of mistaken identity because his brother had fit the profile of a member of a group called the Midwest Bank Robbery Gang that had been robbing banks to fund an attack on the federal government.

"Of course I dismissed it, I thought it was far fetched, unbelievable," said Trentadue, who said he ignored it until months later when he read a story in the L.A. Times about a man named Richard Lee Guthrie, also a member of the robbery gang, who was found hanging in his cell while in federal custody a day before he was due to give a confessional interview about the Oklahoma City bombing.

"Shortly before he was executed I received a message from Timothy McVeigh who told me that when he saw my brother's photograph and heard what happened to him, he knew the FBI had killed my brother because they mistook him from Richard Lee Guthrie."

Trentadue said he believes Guthrie was John Doe 2, McVeigh's accomplice in carrying out the attack on the Alfred P. Murrah building and an individual seen by multiple eyewitnesses yet omitted from the official story by the authorities. Guthrie and Kenneth Trentadue's physical description and movements were exactly the same, right down to the dragon tattoo on each's left forearm.

After 10-year hiatus, Portland OKs cops for FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force
Portland Mayor Charlie Hales cast the swing vote on Feb. 19, 2015, authorizing Portland police to join the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Portland's all in.

A divided Portland City Council on Thursday blessed police involvement in an FBI-led anti-terrorism task force, clarifying the convoluted relationship it created in 2011, with Mayor Charlie Hales casting the swing vote and withdrawing his previous opposition from a decade ago.

Citing a need for better collaboration to ensure public safety, the City Council voted 3-2 to assign two officers to the Joint Terrorism Task Force. The decision reverses Portland's outlier status nationally as the only big city that doesn't assign officers to participate on a full-time basis.

Mayor Charlie Hales provided the decisive vote for involvement, joining commissioners Dan Saltzman and Nick Fish. Commissioners Amanda Fritz and Steve Novick voted in opposition.

Hales described his decision as one of the most difficult he's made in 13 years on the City Council, saying he has at times been appalled by actions involving the federal government and the FBI. As a city commissioner in 2001, Hales voted against involvement in the task force.

But given recent attacks in the world -- the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, last month's terrorist attack in Paris and most recently the killings in Copenhagen - Hales said he believes Portland police

Photo of J. Michael Springmann
J. Michael Springmann

J. Michael Springmann has just published, Visas for Al Qaeda: CIA Handouts That Rocked The World. As a former member of the US Foreign Service, Mr. Springmann exposes the truth about American involvement in the training and international movement of Muslim terrorists and the subsequent increase in jihadist terrorism. Some of these terrorists have links to 9/11.

Thousands of American soldiers and civil servants have lost their lives in the War on Terror. Innocent citizens of many nations, including Americans killed on 9/11, have also paid the ultimate price. While the US government claims to stand against terror, this same government refuses to acknowledge its role in creating what has become a deadly international quagmire. Visas for al-Qaeda: CIA Handouts That Rocked the World sets the record straight by laying the blame on high-ranking US government officials.

During the 1980s, the CIA recruited and trained Muslim operatives to fight the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Later, the CIA would move those operatives from Afghanistan to the Balkans, and then to Iraq, Libya, and Syria, traveling on illegal US visas. These US-backed and trained fighters would morph into an organization that is synonymous with jihadist terrorism: al-Qaeda.

J. Michael Springmann, a former US diplomat, names individuals and organizations that deny culpability. He analyzes the effects of a nebulous war on the US economy and infrastructure. After thirteen bloody years, Springmann exposes hypocrisy and deceit wrapped in a sullied flag of patriotism and honor.

As investigative journalist Wayne Madsen notes, “As demands grow for the Obama administration to release the 28 missing pages from the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report on 9/11 intelligence failures, Springmann’s book serves as a unique preface and epilogue to the Senate report. In fact, Springmann’s description of the pipeline that provided U.S. visas to Saudi and other Wahhabist radicals provides for Cover image of Visas for Al Qaedathe reader what is, according to intelligence insiders, identified as a key finding in the “missing” 28 pages. The release of “Visas for Al Qaeda” also comes after the so-called “20th hijacker,” Zacarias Moussaoui, has confirmed what many independent observers and researchers of 9/11 have already concluded: that the House of Saudi directly financed the attack and Al Qaeda.”

TIES TO 9/11: Additionally, Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, alleged mastermind behind 9/11, had fought in Afghanistan (after studying in the United States) and then went on to the Bosnian war in 1992. In addition, two more of the September 11,2001, hijackers, Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, both Saudis, had gained combat experience in Bosnia. Still more connections came from Mohammed Haydar Zammar, who supposedly helped Mohammed Atta with planning the attacks. He had served with Bosnian army mujahideen units. Ramzi Binalshibh, friends with Atta and Zammar, had also fought in Bosnia.

Thanks to Jon Gold, this clip from the 2004 9/11 Omission Hearings held in NYC includes family member Mindy Kleinberg’s Commission testimony regarding the hijackers’ visas.

FBI agent waives preliminary hearing in Utah assault case

First Published Feb 24 2015 01:18PM • Last Updated Feb 24 2015 06:24 pm
Courts » Adam Grant Quirk is accused of throwing girlfriend to the floor and choking her.

The case of an FBI agent accused of assaulting the woman he lived with was bound over for trial Tuesday in Utah's 3rd District Court.

Judge Laura Scott issued the order after Special Agent Adam Grant Quirk waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Quirk was excused from attending the Tuesday hearing at the request of his defense attorney, who said in a January motion that Quirk had made arrangements to move to Wisconsin.

Quirk, 36, is charged with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony, and criminal mischief and damaging or interrupting a communication device, which are class B misdemeanors. He was arrested and booked in Salt Lake County jail the night of the incident and was later released on $25,000 bail.

Charging documents claim the alleged victim locked herself in the bathroom on Dec. 13 after Quirk began drinking at his Avenues area home and became belligerent. She also took and hid Quirk's phone "to keep him from doing hurtful things on it while being intoxicated," the charges say.

Quirk demanded that she unlock the door, and when she didn't, he allegedly started throwing her things out the back

Training in Blythe helps FBI agents learn about explosives

The FBI is blowing things up this week in Blythe to learn what clues an explosion leaves behind

An FBI Explosives Unit technician walks away from an engulfed pile of cinderblocks after she threw in a molotov cocktail during training at the Richmond County Sheriff's Office Training Center in Blythe.

During the first day of class Monday, about 30 FBI agents from across the country gathered at the Richmond County sheriff’s training range to watch things explode. The explosions ranged from Hollywood-syle “ooh and aah” blasts to the homemade kind. Agents observed the different effects of various chemicals and combinations and even the smells the explosions made.

Niels Harrit Sues Danish Newspaper for Libel

Will Present Video of WTC 7 in Court

Dear Friends,
Two days ago, we announced that Dr. Niels Harrit, the distinguished co-author of the landmark nano-thermite paper, will be appearing in Danish High Court two weeks from now to bring an appeal in his libel suit against the Danish newspaper Weekendavisen.

Already, we've raised $12,000 of the $15,000 needed to cover his legal fees. Please read on – and, if you can, help us reach our goal by the end of this weekend. To those who've already donated, we thank you for your incredible support. We're almost there!

It all started back in December 2012 with an article titled "Madness in the Royal Library." In it, Weekendavisen writer Søren K. Villemoes referred to Dr. Harrit and his fellow 9/11 activists as "crackpots," while also comparing them to creationists and Holocaust deniers.

". . . Is the library soon going to open its doors to an exhibition showing us 'alternative' theories about evolution? . . . Why not just invite in Niels Harrit and the other crackpots from the 9/11 skeptics movement while we are at it? What about the holocaust denial movement?"
>Søren K. Villemoes, Weekendavisen, December 7, 2012
>For Dr. Harrit, a scientist who taught chemistry for 40 years at the University of Copenhagan, this amounted to an allegation of scientific misconduct and a baseless attempt to damage his hard-earned reputation. So he decided to seek recourse under Denmark's strong libel law - and give himself the opportunity to prove in a court of law the scientific legitimacy of his 9/11 research.
>Now Dr. Harrit Needs Our Help
>The lower City Court ruled against Dr. Harrit in 2013, basing its decision on politics rather than the law. Dr. Harrit, of course, appealed.
>This time around, he'll be allowed to submit more evidence, and he is now receiving assistance from attorney Mads Krøger Pramming, chairman of the Danish whistleblower organization Veron [ http://www.veron.dk/hvem-er-vi ]. Although Mr. Pramming is providing his services at a greatly reduced rate, he still needs to be compensated for his indispensible assistance to Dr. Harrit.

>Of course, this is about much more than undoing baseless insults. It's an opportunity for a leader in the 9/11 Truth Movement to show in a court of law that the science behind controlled demolition is not just legitimate, but overwhelming.
>Moreover, because Dr. Harrit has been a national figure ever since his 2009 appearance on TV2NEWS [
], the case is likely to be widely covered in the Danish media - especially if he wins!
> What the Case Comes Down To
>Under Danish libel law, Villemoes has the burden of demonstrating a factual basis for his claim. As a journalist, he must also demonstrate that his reporting meets the standards of good journalism. At the first trial, he did neither. Still, the judge egregiously ruled in his favor.
>In the High Court, Villemoes will have a much harder time, because Dr. Harrit is being allowed to submit more evidence - namely, the video of WTC 7's destruction, as well as an actual sample of the WTC dust, which Dr. Harrit will use to demonstrate the dust's authenticity, and therefore his good scientific conduct.
>Dr. Harrit will also call two witnesses. One, Jan Utzon, is a world-renowned architect and AE911Truth petition signer who testified previously. The other, Dr. Per Hedegård, is a physics professor from the University of Copenhagan's Niels Bohr Institute. His statement to a newspaper in 2010 dismissing Dr. Harrit was the only evidence used by Villemoes at trial. Today, Dr. Hedegård has completely reversed his position and insists on testifying in support of Dr. Harrit!
>Thanks to Dr. Harrit's relentless pursuit of the truth, we now have an incredible opportunity to achieve some symbolic justice for all 9/11 researchers and activists.
>You can learn more about the case by reading our recently published article

>Sincerely yours,

The company claimed she was endangering herself and others.

Are FBI Informants Working Inside America’s Churches?

EDITOR’S NOTE: Two years ago today, I shared the news below for the first time. In light of the fact that a verdict is imminent in the Oklahoma City Bombing Trial that’s been taking place in federal court in Salt Lake City recently (yes, it’s true), I decided to share it again with only minor modifications.

Jesse Trentadue’s ongoing effort to obtain information from the FBI continued this week when he filed a motion (PDF) aimed at convincing a federal judge in Utah to allow him access to information about the FBI’s “Sensitive Informant Program. The move was made one month after the Salt Lake City attorney filed his first motion (PDF) seeking, among other things, to learn whether the FBI has informants working inside American churches.

Terror investigations shaped FBI field office chief

March 3, 2015

It wasn't the first time John S. Adams saw a dead body, and it wouldn't be the last.

Even for someone who helped excavate mass graves in Kosovo, the scene on the Norfolk-based destroyer Cole in 2000 was gruesome.

The new head of the local FBI field office said he helped investigate the terrorist bombing of the ship when it was in port in Aden, Yemen. He recalled the jagged metal bulkheads left behind by the explosion, the frustrated sailors forced to sleep on the ship's deck and the 17 men and women who were killed that fateful day while trying to do nothing more than eat lunch.

"They had no knowledge of what was going to happen," said Adams, who has a background in forensic anthropology. "To see that point in time - where someone's life ended - that sticks with you."

Adams, a veteran of multiple terrorism investigations, took command of the Norfolk field office - located in Chesapeake - last month.

During an interview Monday, Adams recounted his lengthy career in law enforcement and plans for the future. He said he initially wanted to become a doctor but changed plans after taking organic chemistry in college. He decided instead to pursue a graduate degree in forensic anthropology from the University of Tennessee. The decision helped him land a job with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation the following year and eventually a position with the FBI.

Adams, 48, said his first FBI posting was in 1997 in Washington, D.C. As a member of the division's Evidence Response Team, he participated in a number of terrorism investigations. In addition to the Cole, he helped investigate the 1998 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Kenya and the 2003 bombings of three resi

Former FBI Bomb Investigator Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

May 14, 2012 6:48pm

A former FBI Supervisory special agent who worked on some of the bureau’s most high profile terrorism and bombing cases including the Unabomber case, the USS Cole bombing, the Oklahoma City bombing and the1993 World Trade Center bombing and the 9/11 attacks, has been arrested and charged with distributing child pornography.

Donald J. Sachtleben a former FBI agent who served as a team leader on the high profile investigations, was charged in a criminal complaint that was unsealed today by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Indiana.

Sachtleben was charged with knowingly possessing child pornography and knowingly distributing child pornography. According to his Linked In profile, he left the Bureau in 2008 after a 25-year-career that spanned the globe.

The investigation by the FBI and an Internet Crimes Against Children task force spanned back to last fall when investigators executed a search warrant of another man allegedly trading images of child pornography. A review of the computer of that suspect, identified as Jason Nicoson from Illinois, led agents to Sachtleben and an Internet protocol address at his home in Carmel, Ind.

“A limited on-scene triage of the evidence was completed on computers and storage media found inside the residence and a vehicle. Approximately 30 image and video files containing child pornography were recovered from within a Hitachi Hard Drive inside a Sony VAIO Laptop,” the criminal complaint said of items recovered from Sachtleben’s home after federal agents executed a search warrant at his residence.

“Sachleben’s [sic] wife was interviewed during the execution of the search warrant and denied any knowledge of the child pornography found in Sony VAIO laptop or any involvement with child pornography distribution or possession

FBI agent caught lying about key evidence in BM FBI bombing

Key Piece of Evidence in Boston Marathon Attack Case Up in Smoke

23:40 04.03.2015(updated 04:01 05.03.2015
The defense attorney for accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev said Wednesday that her client had indeed participated in the April 2013 bombings that killed three people and wounded more than 260 others. But, a key piece of evidence that everyone expected to be included in the trial does not exist.

“There is little we dispute. It was him,” said Judy Clarke in US District Court in Boston, alleging that it was the older brother, Tamerlan who was responsible for all the violence. This doesn’t surprise the jurors, a majority of whom said during the pretrial that they believe he is guilty but are willing to reconsider their point of view. US District Court Judge George O’Toole refused four defense requests to move the trial away from Boston.

“It was Tamerlan who self-radicalized. It was Dzhokhar who followed,” Clarke told the jam-packed courtroom. “Tamerlan had influence” over his younger brother, Clarke said, because of his age, the culture they were from and because of Tamerlan’s forceful personality. The younger brother must be held responsible but “this was a path laid by his brother that led him to Boylston Street.”

Lawyers: Accused Boston Marathon Bomber Can’t Get Fair Trial in City

Prosecutor William Weinreb painted a different picture in the courtroom, giving graphic details of the injuries to the dead, and arguing that the younger Tsarnaev hid his radical Islamic views from friends, privately reading terrorist writings. “He believed the US government is the enemy of Muslim people. He did the bombing because he thought it would help secure him a place in paradise.”

In a stunning revelation it came to light that a video purportedly showing Dzhokhar Tsarnaev dropping the deadly backpack behind victims at the marathon on April 15, 2013 is not real at all.

Tsarnaev’s lawyers want the court to remove from evidence a news conference video in which former Boston FBI Special Agent Richard DesLauriers described video footage and says Tsarnaev dropped the backpack where the victims were and it later exploded. Tsarnaev’s lawyers say those words were used to convict Tsarnaev in the media, when all the video shows is him walking around.

U.S. District Court Judge George O’Toole ordered the defense and prosecution to edit the recording of the FBI press conference and he reserved the right to rule on the defense’s request to withdraw the entire recording if both sides can’t agree.

Because Tsarnaev faces the death penalty, the trial will be held in two stages, first deciding on culpability and then if the crime warrants a capital punishment sentence.

Is the builder of the Boston bombs still on the loose?

March 5 2015

Investigators have always wondered if more people were involved in the bombings than just the brothers
Former Navy investigator: I think "they had somebody who was more of a skilled bomb maker .. assist them"
There was no evidence the brothers ever tested their bombs before using them, CNN analyst says

(CNN)It was a sophisticated attack with sophisticated devices.

Authorities quickly identified the Boston bombing suspects, but almost immediately after Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed during the manhunt for the perpetrators and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured, investigators privately questioned if more people were involved.

If there were others, perhaps a bomb maker is on the loose.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told police he and his brother built the bombs, but court documents show some people involved in the case had their doubts.

The bombs were described as powerful pressure-cooker explosives controlled remotely. There were fuses from Christmas lights and detonators constructed from model car parts.

The twin bombings in April 2013 killed three people and wounded more than 250 others.

"These relatively sophisticated devices would have been difficult for the Tsarnaevs to fabricate successfully without training or assistance from others," prosecutors wrote in a filing opposing a move by Tsarnaev's lawyer to throw out statements he made in the hospital.

No testing?

Two years after the attack Michael Marks, a former special agent for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, agrees on the technical aspects of the bombs.

"These were two relatively sophisticated devices that went off almost simultaneously. They had a very, very short delay," he said. "It would be my opinion that they had somebody who was more of a skilled bomb maker, an engineer if you will, assist them in saying these are the steps you need to go through and then assemble the device to make it safely and to make it function the way they want."

They were the kind of bombs that need testing to make sure they work the way you expect.

"There has been no evidence that the two brothers actually tested and tried out making a bomb and detonating it," CNN National Security Analyst Juliette Kayyem said. "Now it could be luck that they put this thing together, put it at the Boston Marathon finish line, and were able to detonate them so close to each other and sequentially. But it was a pretty sophisticated attack."

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told FBI agents he and his brother built the bombs following instructions from al Qaeda's Inspire magazine.

No one has been publicly named as a possible co-conspirator. Investigators have focused on Tamerlan Tsarnaev's suspected ties to militants.

In 2012 the older Tsarnaev spent six months in Russia. Authorities have questioned how much exposure he may have had to radicals and whether he could have received training there.

There are other clues that the brothers would have needed help with the bombs. There wasn't trace evidence -- black powder from fireworks -- found in either home, their cars or anywhere associated with them, the court documents said.

Also, investigators apparently were troubled that they recovered one remote-controlled detonator at the scene of the bombings when there should have been two. That suggested the other was being kept to use with other bombs.

Marks said investigators didn't find circuit testers.

"You want a separate circuit tester in order to test the functionality of the components without it being hooked up to the actual device, for your own safety," he said.

Co-conspirator or victim?

The trial underway in Boston will center on not whether Dzhokhar Tsarnaev did it, but why he did it.

The prosecution will paint a portrait of a cruel co-conspirator, an equal partner in hideous crimes. A man who planned to kill and did.

But the defense will draw the accused as a boy living in the shadow of a mastermind older brother. Younger, struggling in school, abandoned by his parents. An easy victim of deep manipulation.

The question of how he was influenced is essential to the case.

Kayyem, who said she believes the brothers acted in tandem without outside help, said she think the defense strategy will be to create enough doubt within the jurors' minds of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

THREATS AND RESPONSES: THE F.B.I.; Five Minority Agents File Bias Lawsuit Against Bureau

Published: September 26, 2002

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25— Four black agents and one Hispanic agent at the F.B.I. field office in New York filed a discrimination lawsuit today. The agents accused their supervisors of a pattern of racial bias that hampered the agents' work on a number of fugitive cases, gang investigations and efforts to follow up leads in the Sept. 11 attacks.

In a letter today to the F.B.I. director, Robert S. Mueller III, and several lawmakers, the agents said they were horrified when photographs of several minority agents were posted on their squad's ''wall of shame,'' an office bulletin board where pictures of gang members and criminal subjects were posted.

The letter says that under the agents' faces were hand-drawn pictures of them wearing warm-up suits and gold medallions. A caption referred to them as ''whiners.''

The agents said they were especially angered that the faces had been cut from a photograph of the squad taken a few days after the Sept. 11 attacks, at the Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island, where they sifted through debris from the World Trade Center site to collect body parts and other evidence.

In the complaint, the agents said that after the attacks they pursued a highly promising lead about an unidentified Pakistani even as their immediate supervisor complained that they were spending too much time out of the office. The five agents said that criticism was not directed at white agents.

Beyond the specific complaints, the letter and a filing in the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia depict a corrosive, demoralizing and racially insensitive environment in the New York office, the largest of the 56 field offices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The New York office is often regarded by senior managers as the bureau's flagship local operation. It has hundreds of experienced agents skilled in investigations of organized crime, terrorism and espionage.

The agents who filed the complaint are Wilfred Baptiste, Kendall Hobson, Paul Sutherland, Nathan Tucker and Carlos Luquis. Several have been credited with important arrests, and the agents have received exceptional performance appraisals. Mr. Tucker arrested a suspect from the bureau's list of ''Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives.''

''The most shocking thing here is that these issues were raised numerous times by five agents, and yet there was no effort by management to address it,'' a lawyer for the agents, Ronald Schmidt, said. ''These problems are cultural and will continue to negatively impact F.B.I. operations unless systematic reforms are introduced.''

A spokesman for the bureau, Mike Kortan, said the bureau reviewed all bias complaints.

''The F.B.I. has not been served with a copy of the complaint and cannot comment at this time,'' Mr. Kortan said. ''However, the F.B.I. remains committed to equal opportunity in the workplace, and any allegation of discrimination or retaliation is taken seriously and acted upon. A number of processes for grievances are available to employees, and in this case the equal employment opportunity process is under way.''

The letter and the suit focus on the actions of Mark Paridy, who supervised the agents for more than three years on a squad that tracked fugitives, an assignment widely regarded as one of the most difficult and potentially dangerous. F.B.I. officials said neither Mr. Paridy nor other agents would comment on the accusations.

The agents complained that Mr. Paridy denigrated the work of black agents on the squad and denied them cash awards and commendation letters that are important for agents who seek promotions to management.

The complaint said Mr. Paridy had secretly monitored their voice mail messages and penalized the agents after they had filed administrative complaints by assigning them tasks usually given to junior agents. The minority agents said they were assigned more than their share of old fugitive cases that had few leads and were highly unlikely to be solved.

Other agents have been more pointed in criticizing the agency since the Sept. 11 attacks. On Friday, another agent from the New York office testified to a Congressional committee that he had sent an e-mail message to his superiors before the attacks, warning that ''someday someone will die'' unless headquarters acted more quickly to investigate a certain suspect.

Later, that suspect, Khalid al-Midhar, was widely believed to have led the group that crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon.

The minority agents said they had repeatedly complained to managers about Mr. Paridy's actions. Often, they said, he seemed to focus on minority agents, sometimes asking them to account for their whereabouts and report to him even when working undercover.

The suit was filed after the agents' lawyer said that they had exhausted the administrative complaint process, a system that minority agents have frequently said was slow, often arbitrary and a forum that seldom reached conclusions that minorities regarded as just.

The bureau has long struggled with bias charges. A class-action suit by black agents was settled in 1993, when the bureau promised to change procedures for promotions, management training and assignments. The agents took the bureau back to court in 1998, saying it had failed to institute the changes. In a second settlement, in 2000, the bureau said it would make the changes by 2003, an outcome

Criminal Violence as Political Theater
Theater: Standard Operating Procedure for the FBI

See link for full story

They collected them -- and probably sold them, too: Feds pose with firearms confiscated at the border.

“The Investigations Division of the Office of the Inspector General has thoroughly reviewed your allegations and concluded that the issues raised do not warrant an investigation by this office,” insisted the unsigned March 10 letter from the Justice Department.

The “allegations” and “issues” I had raised in my March 2 letter to Associate Deputy Attorney General David Margolis dealt with disclosures by former FBI undercover operative John Matthews about a federal “sting” operation in which AR-15 rifles – which had been converted to full-auto machine guns -- were illegally sold to narcotics-peddling motorcycle gangs through the Lone Wolf gun shop in Tucson, Arizona. The key elements of Matthews’ account were confirmed by his former FBI handler, Donald Jarrett. The Justice Department’s exhaustive and definitive “review” of this matter took less than a week.

"Fixer": David Margolis (center).
Lone Wolf was the same gun shop was bullied by the ATF into participating in the notorious “Fast and Furious” operation, through which firearms were illegally provided to agents of Mexican drug cartels. That initiative was inspired by the cynical calculation that an engineered increase in “gun-related violence” would create political pressure to impose new restrictions on firearms ownership.

“With the number of guns we let walk, we’ll never know how many people were killed, raped, robbed,” lamented ATF agent John Dodson, who was involved in the operation.
“Fast and Furious” was an exercise in abetting criminal violence for the purpose of political theater, and it was neither the first nor the last federal venture of that kind. During the 1990s, Matthews – a Vietnam veteran who is dying from exposure to Agent Orange -- was an infiltrator and informant in the FBI’s PATCON (Patriot Conspiracy) operation, which he suggests was a progenitor of “Fast and Furious.”

Rather than discrediting Matthews’ allegations, the Justice Department’s careful and fastidious “review” has tacitly validated them: The letter I was sent didn’t dismiss those claims as false or exaggerated, it simply said they did “not warrant an investigation.” This is because the actions Matthews described are entirely unexceptional – they are standard operating procedure for the FBI.

Disillusioned snitch: John Matthews.
“As we talk of gun control … over the years [of] how many cases of sporterized SKS, AK47s, and SKSs were sold to groups and case after case of ammo for them all with the blessings of the FBI & ATF with no paper work,” Matthews wrote in a November 8, 2014 email (which I have lightly edited for spelling and grammar). “Also let’s not forget the AR15s, they were made full auto from the Lone Wolf gun store back in the 90s by a guy brought in by the FBI for me to put in place. Those guns went to bikers who were sell[ing] drugs on the border. Those drugs were [believed] to be coming in from China.”

In March 2013, Matthews corresponded with Jarrett, his former FBI handler, about this element of the PATCON operation. The name of the “guy” brought in by the FBI to broker the firearms deal was David Mann, who had a PO Box in St. Johns, Arizona.

“I [would] pick him up in Payson, AZ on our way up to Surplus & Stuff in Snowflake … and met with a guy name[d] Tim,” Matthews recalled in a March 28, 2013 email to Jarrett. “He [would] show him his weapons that he was making and how he could make them anything they wanted. Then from there we took a trip up to where the guy [kept] the tractors that we were thinking the dope was coming in from.”

The tractors were apparently being used as part of an international narcotics smuggling operation.

During the trip described by Matthews, he and David Mann -- and perhaps the mysterious “Tim” -- met with another individual who “ran the church and we [thought was] selling the drugs to the bikers. We were going to get David to sell weapons too [sic] them. This trip was where [I] got David in with this [sic] guys so I could move on. Does this sound right to you[?] Also have more info on him and [meetings] at gun store (Lone Wolf) and other places like Scottsdale, before we turn[ed] him loose.”

“Yes, that sounds absolutely correct about David,” Jarrett replied the following day. “I only introduced you to one guy that work[ed] with guns, and that was David.”

All of this is quite similar to the “Fast and Furious” operation, despite taking place decades earlier.

At the time, as summarized in recent federal court filings, Matthews was employed by the FBI “to infiltrate and monitor the activities of the extreme political right.” As a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, Matthews was eager to participate in what he was told was a mission vital to national security. He applied himself with earnestness, and was given a commendation by the Bureau for his efforts.

However, he eventually became disenchanted with PATCON, concluding that the FBI’s design “had been to infiltrate and to incite these fringe groups to violence,” rather than protecting the public.

The proto-“Fast and Furious” operation to arm drug-dealing criminal gangs – an entirely typical specimen of prohibition-enabled official corruption – was one of several schemes that disabused Matthews of the idea that PATCON was a noble undertaking. In a meeting with Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue in July 2011 Matthews described “a PATCON operation designed to promote an extremist group to carry out a plan to damage the cooling system of the Brown’s Ferry Nuclear Power Plant in Alabama….”

More importantly, from Trentadue’s perspective, was Matthews’ account of seeing “Timothy McVeigh and a German National by the name of Andreas Strassmeir at a militia training facility near San Saba, Texas” shortly before the April 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing.

“According to Matthews, he had reported the McVeigh-Strassmeir siting to the FBI, and was told by the FBI that the Bureau was already aware of that fact, which indicated to Mr. Matthews that others within the FBI were monitoring McVeigh on the run-up to the attack on the Murrah Building,” Trentandue pointed out in a motion filed before federal Judge Clark Waddoups last August.

Seeking justice: Jesse in the 1990s...
For nearly twenty years, Trentadue has been trying to learn the full truth about the torture-murder of his younger brother Kenneth at the hands of the FBI. Shortly after the April 19, 1995 OKC bombing, Kenneth Trentadue – on parole following a prison term for bank robbery – was detained in San Diego and taken to the Federal Transfer Facility in Oklahoma City.

It was Kenneth’s singular misfortune to be a near-twin of another bank robber named Richard Lee Guthrie, who was already immured elsewhere in the imponderable depths of the federal prison system. Guthrie had been a member of a white supremacist gang called the Aryan Republican Army, which robbed banks in order to fund domestic terrorism – including the OKC bombing. The ARA frequented a white supremacist redoubt in Oklahoma called Elohim City, in the company of several federal undercover assets – among them the same Andres Strassmeir whom Matthews had seen in the company of Timothy McVeigh.

The federal operatives who beat and garroted Kenneth Trentadue thought they were eliminating Guthrie, whose knowledge about the federal government’s role in OKC was potentially troublesome. The murderers arranged for Kenneth’s cell to be cleaned up and attempted to have his body cremated. Jesse and his mother Wilma intervened to preserve Kenneth’s remains, which displayed undeniable evidence that he had been beaten to death – and had put up a doomed fight against his murderers.

Shortly thereafter, Guthrie likewise died in a staged “suicide.”

In 2001, a federal judge ruled that the FBI had lied about the circumstances of Kenneth Trentadue’s death and was guilty of destroying evidence in the case. Jesse set aside $250,000 of the $1.1 million civil judgment against the FBI as a reward for information leading to the prosecution of the murderers. That reward remains unclaimed.

... Jesse preparing for trial last summer.
At this own expense, Jesse has continued his efforts to unearth suppressed video footage of the OKC bombing, which he believes will reveal the identity of one or more federal operatives who took part in that atrocity. Blessed with financial resources as inexhaustible as its institutional corruption, the FBI has used every tactic at its disposal – both legal and illegal – to prevent the disclosure of that video.

In the service of that cover-up, the Bureau has repeatedly ignored and disobeyed orders from federal judges and engaged in blatant witness tampering.

Last July, Matthews was scheduled to testify – via teleconference – in a hearing before U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups. Four days before his scheduled appearance, Matthews had a phone conversation with FBI Special Agent Adam Quirk in which the thoroughly intimidated witness promised that “I ain’t goin’ and I ain’t saying nothing unless somebody issues me a subpoena.” Even if the judge were to “haul my ass to Salt Lake City, I’m gonna set there on the stand and say I don’t recall anything.”

“That’s fine,” Quirk replied, approving of Matthews’ stated intention to perjure himself. During a phone conversation on the following day, Matthews repeated his assurance that he would try to avoid a subpoena.

“Well, yeah, and I mean – worst case scenario, even if you testified you can just – you can say you have, you know – you have nothing to say,” Qu

The Sting
How the FBI Created a Terrorist
By Trevor Aaronson

March 14 2015

IN THE VIDEO, Sami Osmakac is tall and gaunt, with jutting cheekbones and a scraggly beard. He sits cross-legged on the maroon carpet of the hotel room, wearing white cotton socks and pants that rise up his legs to reveal his thin, pale ankles. An AK-47 leans against the closet door behind him. What appears to be a suicide vest is strapped to his body. In his right hand is a pistol.

“Recording,” says an unseen man behind the camera.

“This video is to all the Muslim youth and to all the Muslims worldwide,” Osmakac says, looking straight into the lens. “This is a call to the truth. It is the call to help and aid in the party of Allah … and pay him back for every sister that has been raped and every brother that has been tortured and raped.”

Osmakac in his “martyrdom video.” (YouTube)

The recording goes on for about eight minutes. Osmakac says he’ll avenge the deaths of Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and elsewhere. He refers to Americans as kuffar, an Arabic term for nonbelievers. “Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,” he says. “Woman for a woman, child for a child.”

Osmakac was 25 years old on January 7, 2012, when he filmed what the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice would later call a “martyrdom video.” He was also broke and struggling with mental illness.

After recording this video in a rundown Days Inn in Tampa, Florida, Osmakac prepared to deliver what he thought was a car bomb to a popular Irish bar. According to the government, Osmakac was a dangerous, lone-wolf terrorist who would have bombed the Tampa bar, then headed to a local casino where he would have taken hostages, before finally detonating his suicide vest once police arrived.

But if Osmakac was a terrorist, he was only one in his troubled mind and in the minds of ambitious federal agents. The government could not provide any evidence that he had connections to international terrorists. He didn’t have his own weapons. He didn’t even have enough money to replace the dead battery in his beat-up, green 1994 Honda Accord.

Osmakac was the target of an elaborately orchestrated FBI sting that involved a paid informant, as well as FBI agents and support staff working on the setup for more than three months. The FBI provided all of the weapons seen in Osmakac’s martyrdom video. The bureau also gave Osmakac the car bomb he allegedly planned to detonate, and even money for a taxi so he could get to where the FBI needed him to go. Osmakac was a deeply disturbed young man, according to several of the psychiatrists and psychologists who examined him before trial. He became a “terrorist” only after the FBI provided the means, opportunity and final prodding necessary to make him one.

Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the FBI has arrested dozens of young men like Osmakac in controversial counterterrorism stings. One recent case involved a rudderless 20-year-old in Cincinnati, Ohio, named Christopher Cornell, who conspired with an FBI informant — seeking “favorable treatment” for his own “criminal exposure” — in a harebrained plot to build pipe bombs and attack Capitol Hill. And just last month, on February 25, the FBI arrested and charged two Brooklyn men for plotting, with the aid of a paid informant, to travel to Syria and join the Islamic State. The likelihood that the men would have stepped foot in Syria of their own accord seems low; only after they met the informant, who helped with travel applications and other hurdles, did their planning take shape.

Trevor Aaronson

On this week’s episode of the “Unauthorized Disclosure” podcast, the guest is Trevor Aaronson, contributing writer to The Intercept and executive director of the Florida Center of Investigative Reporting at the University of Miami.

Aaronson wrote a feature on Sami Osmakac, a mentally ill Muslim man who was the target of an FBI sting operation in Tampa Bay, Florida, in 2012. The FBI gave Osmakac the means, the opportunity and the desire to carry out an attack. They orchestrated this plot, which Osmakac was convicted and sentenced to 40 years in prison for committing, and that is abundant because of recorded conversations the undercover FBI agent was having about Osmakac.

During a thirty-minute interview, Aaronson comprehensively details how the FBI orchestrated this terrorism plot. He compares the case of Osmakac to other FBI sting operations. Aaronson addresses the secrecy surrounding this operation and how he was only able to publish this report because a confidential source provided him sealed transcripts. Plus, Aaronson addresses whether he thinks there has been a shift in how the media covers or how the public reacts to the FBI manufacuturing their own terrorism plots, which they can thwart and then act as if they had no decisive role in creating.

A discussion portion follows the interview. Co-host and journalist Rania Khalek provides a rundown on the re-election of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. We talk about the outrage at a New York high school over the Pledge of Allegiance being recited in Arabic. The discussion concludes with some climate disruption headlines and talk about the Obama administration censoring and rejecting public records requests at a greater rate than ever.

*The following is a partial transcript of the 30-minute interview.

KEVIN GOSZTOLA: This involves a young Muslim, Sami Osmakac. It’s a 2012 case, and he recorded what the government calls a “martyrdom video.” This all took place in Tampa, Florida. Would you introduce Sami and how he came to be targeted?

TREVOR AARONSON: Sami Osmakac came to the United States when he was a young teenager. I believe he was thirteen years-old, and he and his family had fled the war in Kosovo—first settling for a few years in Germany and then coming to the Tampa Bay area where Sami’s family had opened a bakery in the city of St. Petersburg, which was actually quite popular.

Sami, as began to get into his early twenties, began to show a number of signs of mental illness. A psychologist and a psychiatrist, who were hired by the court and the defense, would both later diagnose him with schizoaffective disorder. Of course, as these symptoms were beginning to manifest, Sami’s family didn’t know that at the time. They just knew that he was heavily troubled. He had trouble sleeping. He was growing physically different. He was pale.

At the same time, he had this turn toward extremism and got really involved in Islam and he was introduced to a red-bearded man named Russell Dennison, who was an American-born convert. Russell himself is a pretty mysterious guy, and we can get into that, as part of this, but the most important role that Russell Dennison played was that when Sami was twenty-five years-old Russell introduced him to a man named Abdul Dabus, who was an FBI informant who ran a Middle Eastern market in Tampa. And Abdul Dabus, according to the government’s story, met Sami on that first day that Russell Dennison introduced him and Sami asked for al Qaeda flags or black banners. That was the FBI’s story. Dabus then says he called the FBI, told them about this interaction with Sami and they, in turn, instructed him to start a sting operation.

Dabus gave Sami a job. Sami, it’s worth noting, had absolutely no money and didn’t have any sort of employment so Dabus gave him a job. Introduced him to an undercover agent, who went by the name Amir, who offered to sell Sami some weapons. And, in turn, Sami and Amir came up with this very elaborate plot to bomb and Irish bar called MacDinton’s and then have Sami go to the local Native American casino, take hostages and then finally when police would arrive detonate an explosive vest.

Like all of these sting operations that the FBI runs, everything was provided by the FBI. All of the weapons, all of the logistical planning was provided by the FBI.

What’s interesting about my story is that it leverages these sealed and basically secret transcripts of overheard transcripts. Amir Jones would go back to the field office in Tampa with his recording equipment on and that recording equipment captured seemingly accidentally the private conversations among the FBI agents as they were working the sting. And what’s so revelatory about these transcripts is that it shows that groups like Human Rights Watch that have criticized these sting operations for targeting mentally ill and economically desperate people, the FBI seems to agree with that assessment. Behind closed doors, the FBI agent was calling Sami Osmakac a retarded fool who didn’t have a pot to piss in. They said his plans were wishy-washy and basically made clear that were it not for the FBI making everything possible Sami himself was not much of a danger.

Even more concerning, I think, is that that central piece of evidence that was used against Sami at trial was the fact that he had provided $500 to the undercover agent as a down payment for weapons. And these transcripts show that was a problem for the FBI. That Sami was so broke and didn’t have any money or any capacity to really make much money. That they had to orchestrate a pretty elaborate scheme through which they gave money to the FBI informant Dabus, who gave a job to Sami for doing little to no work and then Dabus paid Sami $500, which Sami then used to purchase these weapons. So, basically, through these transcripts, we’re able to see very clearly that Sami was using government-provided money to purchase government-provided weapons in a conspiracy that was portrayed by the government as if this was a truly dangerous terrorist or lone wolf terrorist, who on his own would have struck and would have done terrible damage to property and loss of life in the Tampa Bay area.

GOSZTOLA: So, as you’re saying and as you describe in great detail in your feature, there are two informants. What are the back stories and even potentially criminal backgrounds you could talk about with Amir Jones and then Dabus?

AARONSON: Amir Jones was the undercover FBI agent, as far as we know. That’s how the FBI has identified him. It’s not unusual for the FBI to have agents like Amir, who move from case to case. And so, Amir Jones’ name was never revealed and to this day I don’t know what it is. He went by the pseudonym Amir Jones. I suspect he is one of the FBI operators, who moves from case to case, state to state. So, it’s probably unlikely that he is in Tampa any longer. They bring in someone like Amir Jones when they need someone to play the terrorist role for the FBI as an agent.

But Amir Jones was introduced to Sami through Abdul Dabus, and Dabus is a pretty interesting guy because he was well-known in the Tampa Muslim community, was a business owner and also was friendly with Sami Al-Arian, who you’re listeners may remember was the University of South Florida professor who was prosecuted under the PATRIOT Act and battled prosecutors for a decade before just this year agreeing to a deal where he accepted deportation to Turkey. Abdul Dabus actually testified in Sami al-Arian’s trial in 2003 and, in fact, was a damaging witness for the government’s case against Sami al-Arian. Somehow between al-Arian’s case and Sami Osmakac’s sting operation, Abdul Dabus became an informant for the FBI.

Dabus claims that this was the only time he worked for the FBI. One of the court records, an FBI affidavit, describes Abdul Dabus as having provided reliable information in the past certainly suggesting that he was an ongoing informant for the FBI. Although, Dabus, as I said in my interview, disputed that.

Dabus was paid $20,000 for his role in the plot. That’s not unusual. Informants can actually make much more in these types of operations. There are cases where informants have made $100,000 or more for working these types of stings, but Dabus was paid $20,000 for about three to four months of work off and on. While he says he wasn’t motivated by the money, as I noted in my story, there was certainly evidence to suggest he was in really rough financial straits when he came in contact with Sami Osmakac. Dabus’ home was facing foreclosure proceedings. His business was also under foreclosure. He owed $800,000 on that note, and, according to civil filings, he had debts all around town.

So, it’s clear just from the record that this was a man who was in pretty rough financial shape and so the idea that he wasn’t at all incentivized by money—It could be true but also the public record suggests that seems unlikely. Dabus then is paid by the FBI and then is taking orders from an FBI agent named Jacob Collins. And Jacob Collins is the one who instructs Dabus to introduce him to the undercover agent Amir Jones but also more importantly is the one instructing Dabus to pay Sami Osmakac money so that in turn Sami Osmakac can give the money to Amir Jones for these weapons, allowing prosecutors to announce the public and show to a jury, hey, this guy was really serious. He gave $500 for these weapons. But, as these transcripts show, that capacity was made possible only because the FBI had orchestrated it.

And I say that very deliberately because orchestrated was their term for this process, where they would orchestrate the money going to Dabus and then Sami Osmakac so he could purchase these weapons.

GOSZTOLA: I think most people know about the most major high-profile case of going after economically desperate people, like the Newburgh Sting. But another aspect I wanted to see if you could shed some light on is it seems in going through your story that Sami fits one of these characteristics, where he’s paranoid about the United States government, where he has these beliefs and views about the US government. And, maybe somewhat similar to the recent case of Christopher Cornell in Ohio, this is something FBI agents are taking advantage of in the process of orchestrating this sting.

AARONSON: Right, it’s not unusual in these sting operations for the targets of the sting operation to either have diagnosed mental illness or to exhibit behavior that certainly suggests they were having mental problems. In fact, Sami Osmakac isn’t the only person targeted in a sting operation who was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. There was a case out in Seattle, Washington, involving a man named Walid Mujahidh, who also had schizoaffective disorder. So, as a result of the trawling of Muslim communities that the FBI is doing in the name of counterterrorism, the targeting of more than 15,000 informants in these communities, they’re looking for people, who want to get involved in some kind of violence. And they’re not finding truly capable people. They’re finding people who are willing to mouth off at the mosque and these tend to be mentally ill.

At the same time, it’s worth noting—and this is where we get into various shades of gray and what makes telling these stories difficult—is that someone like Sami Osmakac isn’t an angel. He’s not the type of guy you’d want to have around your children, the type you’d want to invite to dinner. He says things that are really horrible. He says things that are odious. He says things that just seem to justify violence against innocent people. And so, this is someone who has a lot of problems and he’s not an angel but at the same time he is not capable of committing an act of terror the way that he is portrayed to the public and to juries.

That is to say that Sami Osmakac, like the dozens of other people that have been caught in these terrorism sting operations, doesn’t have any weapons. He’d have a kitchen knife certainly, but he doesn’t have any guns, any bombs. He doesn’t have any money. Even if he had money, he doesn’t know anyone he could purchase these weapons from. Most importantly, he doesn’t have any connections to any international terrorist groups. So, while the FBI is really, really good at finding these types of would-be terrorists, the types that don’t have connections, that don’t have capacity, the track record of the FBI finding the ones that do have capacity and do have connections—Faisal Shahzad, who tried to bomb Times Square in 2010 or even more recently, the Boston Marathon bombers, these were the type of people who were not identified through these really aggressive sting operations.

More commonly, and I think this is the strongest criticism you can make of these types of sting operations, is that while they are missing the truly dangerous threats, like the Faisal Shahzads or the Boston Marathon bombings, they are instead finding these easily manipulated, mentally ill and economically desperate people who are easy to move along in a sting operation. I think the truth is that the truly dangerous ones, the Shahzads and the Tamerlan Tsarnaevs, are not the likely ones to be caught in these sting operations. To put it bluntly, they’re just not that stupid.

So the ones we’re finding in these sting operations are the ones who are kind of awful in a way. They are awful people. They say terrible things, but they are not terrorists. And, certainly, saying terrible things is not a crime and it’s only a crime if you commit an act of terrorism based on those ideas. It’s only the FBI through these stings that are making it possible for people like that to turn their very misguided and hateful ideas into some sort of act of terrorism.

GOSZTOLA: Now, I want to ask you about the fact that we’re having this conversation because there was somebody who was willing to provide this to material confidentially, to you or The Intercept, in order for this to become public, and the fact that the government did not want any of this material to be available for anyone in the public to read. So, if you could, just address the secrecy issue around this material in the case.

AARONSON: Right, so this was a sealed transcript that was placed under a protective order. These transcripts were then provided to me by a source after the trial. What’s significant is that a federal magistrate judge and later a district judge would not allow the jury to hear about these transcripts. The government argued that the release of these transcripts would damage their investigative strategy and law enforcement techniques.

And, in fact, after the trial, US District Judge Mary Scriven agreed to release a part of the transcripts but gave the government the ability to redact anything it felt would damage law enforcement strategy and investigative techniques. And so, if you go into the court file today, what you will find are some of the transcripts that we released but those transcripts are heavily redacted. What we’ve released are the full transcripts to our knowledge and with the only redactions being the initial ones, which the FBI always redacts, which have to do with the model and make of recording equipment which for some reason is really sensitive to the FBI.

What I think is significant is really twofold. I mean, one, these transcripts reveal the extent to which the FBI went after Sami Osmakac knowing that he wasn’t dangerous and the FBI’s willingness to essentially manufacture a plot so detailed that they had to provide the actual money that Sami Osmakac needed. They even had to give him taxi cab money so he could get to where they needed to go. They talk about him as if they know he is not in any way dangerous. They know calling someone a retarded fools certainly suggests you don’t think he is going to do anything significantly dangerous or significantly sophisticated.

At the same time, I think the larger question, which I don’t raise in my story, and I hope that maybe a conversation will come out in response to it, is what in these transcripts is so secret and so revelatory for the US government that it needs to shield them under claims that these transcripts would damage investigative techniques and strategy. The only investigative techniques and strategy these transcripts seem to show is that they took a man, who on his own had no capacity, someone that they knew had mental problems, someone they also knew had no connections to international terrorist groups, and through conversation after conversation orchestrated scenarios using a paid informant and an undercover agent that allowed them to portray Sami Osmakac as having $500, having the ability and willingness to go forward in a sting operation.

There was no sensitive information in the transcripts related to sources being exposed or put in danger. There was no kind of proprietary information about how they’re using intelligence in creative ways that you could maybe make an argument the government can’t have this released. My finding in reading this is more than anything these transcripts are an embarrassment to the US government and they did not want that released and so they claimed investigative techniques and strategy. And something that this very uncommon in these cases, a federal judge was willing to go with them on that and say, sure, we’ll seal that and place this under a protective order. She did and were it not for a confidential source providing this information to me this information likely would not have ever gotten out.
