Informants and Agents?Who's a Rat Message Board

SHREVEPORT, La. A Drug Enforcement Administration agent's briefcase containing the names of informants was stolen from the trunk of his car but was later recovered.

A D-E-A spokesman says the New Orleans agent put his briefcase in the trunk of his car at a Shreveport casino hotel's parking garage, then mistakenly hit the unlock button on his remote.

A man who police said was looking for something to steal saw the open trunk and took the briefcase, apparently unaware of its contents. When the agent discovered his briefcase stolen, D-E-A officials alerted Shreveport police. On Wednesday, a man was caught trying to break into cars at a Bossier City casino parking garage.

Police say 22-year-old Joshua Stewart McAllister, of Kilgore, Texas, told them he saw the D-E-A's name on documents in the briefcase and didn't know what to do.

Agents say they don't believe the names of informants were compromised.

McAllister has been booked on simple burglary charges.
