http://politickernj.com/2014/11/from-the-politickernj-bookshelf-the-mystery-of-eugene-mccarthy/

One of the most enigmatic and exasperating people in American presidential politics, the late Senator Eugene McCarthy of Minnesota confounded and infuriated his anti-Vietnam War supporters when he refused to show passion as a presidential candidate in the 1968 Democratic Primary.

The erudite and eminently quotable McCarthy left behind a traveling encyclopedia of gems from 1960s politics. This, for example, was how he reacted to Bobby Kennedy’s entrance into the presidential race: “He plays touch football; I play football. He plays softball; I play baseball. He skates in Rockefeller Center; I play hockey… If these are the bases on which you are going to make a decision… it’ll become abrasive, I suppose.”
When Kennedy entered the race after McCarthy’s stunning moral victory in the New Hampshire Primary, the senator from New York and younger brother of the slain JFK insisted that his efforts would not be directed at McCarthy.

The senator from Minnesota responded with the following: “An Irishman who announces the day before St. Patrick’s Day that he’s going to run against another Irishman shouldn’t say it’s going to be a peaceful relationship.”

All of it remains very entertaining political invective – but it doesn’t answer the enduring question of why.

Why did McCarthy stand up to President Lyndon Johnson in the teeth of the conflict in Southeast Asia, the only man to oppose the president, only to run a shockingly moribund campaign that broke the hearts of impassioned young followers seemingly more committed to the cause than the candidate, and ended with McCarthy’s anti-climatic fumbling of the nomination to Johnson’s Vice President, Vietnam apologist Hubert Humphrey?

Two great books for politics junkies, Norman Mailer’s Miami and the Siege of Chicago, and 1968 in America by Charles Kaiser, hint (in the case of Kaiser’s study) and outright state (according to Mailer) that McCarthy’s political objective in challenging Johnson might have included a desire to gain sufficient political leverage – not to become president – but to oust FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover to win the job for himself.

Opposed to the war after initially supporting the Gulf of Tonkin resolution broadening the president’s war powers, McCarthy also detested Hoover and what he saw as his infringement on personal liberties and his “personalization of power” as the director of the FBI since 1924.

“Dad felt very strongly about the danger of having the head of the FBI so unaccountable, so permanent,” McCarthy’s daughter, Ellen McCarthy, told USA Today in 2007. “In the late ’60s and early ’70s, we had a wonderful family dog, Eric the Red. He who would go crazy at the mention of J. Edgar’s name — growling and carrying on. It was one of Eric’s tricks most appreciated by Dad.”

Although leaders of the anti-war movement tried to prevail on both men, neither Martin Luther King, Jr. nor Bobby Kennedy would run against the redoubtable Johnson in the lead-up to 1968. When McCarthy finally made his announcement, he did so in his own peculiar, dispassionate way, maddening those who wanted a real anti-war crusader. McCarthy refused to attack Johnson, refused to show emotion, and remained aloof heading into the snows of New Hampshire where his college-aged backers – up against the foreign policy challenge of their generation – saw an opportunity to make a statement against the Johnson Administration.

jpegAs Vietnam intensified with the Tet Offensive, the anti-Johnson movement became that much more urgent. When, days before the New Hampshire Primary, the New York Times first reported General William Westmoreland’s request for another 200,000-plus American troops in Vietnam, McCarthy’s forces had the momentum they needed and, despite their candidate’s persistent dispassion, vaulted their candidate to within 200 votes (when all votes were tallied) of icing Johnson in N.H.

The event prompted Kennedy – convinced that McCarthy was not a serious candidate – into the presidential race. And that decision forced Johnson – haunted by the specter of his predecessor – out.

While his supporters reacted like revolutionaries who had just toppled the dictator’s statue in the plaza, McCarthy – on learning the news of Johnson’s retreat from the Democratic Primary – said in his inimitable, detached way, “It’s a surprise to me. Things have gotten rather complicated.”

Rather complicated?

Of course it’s an unfortunate comparison for a variety of reasons, but imagine Chris Christie unhorsing, say, Jeb Bush from the presidential contest and suddenly announcing, “Things have gotten rather complicated.”

In their separate studies, Kaiser and Mailer both try to dissect McCarthy’s confounding reluctance to seize on an advantage.

They pinpoint a variety of reasons for the Minnesotan’s behavior: the candidate’s Benedictine mysticism and natural aversion to the City of Man; his preference of poetry to politics; his horror and final surrender to paranoia in the aftermath of Bobby Kennedy’s assassination; his intellectual hyperactivity; his innate laziness and years of mouldering in the U.S. Senate; his jealousy of the Kennedys; his essential conservatism as a stark – and finally irreconcilable – contrast to the radical pressures of the anti-war movement; his extraordinary originality and refusal to be an instrument for the masses.

Maybe it had had to do with the fact that the Hoover-led FBI kept a 500-page file on McCarthy, obtained by The Associated Press through the Freedom of Information Act.

All of these in some measure are plausible for why McCarthy made such an aloof and unsatisfying effort.

But as a specific political target to be obtained by running directly at Johnson, conceived “far from the madding crowd” in the halls of D.C. power, the FBI job makes some political sense.

Kaiser teases the reader on the subject while Mailer outright gets McCarthy to admit as much in an impromptu dinner interview following the Democrats’ selection of Humphrey as the party’s nominee for president.

From Kaiser’s book: “In 1968 McCarthy promised to fire Hoover if he became president. To many of his supporters, that pledge was more radical than anything he ever said about the war.”

In a debate with Humphrey and George McGovern (who entered the contest after the killing of Kennedy) at the Democratic Convention in Chicago, McCarthy reinforced the argument against Hoover. “They say I was impersonal, I want you to know I am the only candidate who said he would get rid of J. Edgar Hoover and that is a person,” the candidate cracked.

After Humphrey beats him with a combination of establishment muscle and McCarthy’s own somnolence, A1Bi1aTmWVL._SL1500_
Mailer, in his book, describes an incredible encounter with the once and future presidential candidate in a restaurant.

From Miami and the Siege of Chicago: “‘You see, sir,’ he said. ‘The tragedy of the whole business is that you never should have had to run for President,’” Mailer writes of his meeting with McCarthy. ‘You would have been perfect for the Cabinet.’ A keen look back from McCarthy’s eye gave the sanction to continue. ‘Yessir,’ said the reporter, ‘you’d have made a perfect chief fo

A shift in who is responsible for the killing of J.F. Kennedy - Editorials -

A shift in who is responsible for the killing of J.F. Kennedy
Posted 20 hours ago

Many of us think about the tragedy in Dallas 51 years ago this month. Last May I visited the Texas School Book Depository on the corner of Houston and Elm Streets in Dallas, Texas and read the government’s inscription on the wall of the building, “On November 22, 1963, The building gained national notoriety when Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot and killed President John F. Kennedy from a sixth story window as the Presidential motorcade passed.”

The word “allegedly” grabbed me, as it was an admission that even the government was not certain, without some level of doubt, that Oswald did the deed or acted alone.

Most serious scholars on the assassination view the Warren Commissions review of the data with great skepticism (some with contempt) especially in light of its numerous omissions, as for example the testimony of Dr. Charles Crenshaw who placed Kennedy in the coffin at Parkland Hospital and testified years latter that the neck wound had been tampered with to look like an exit rather than an entry wound. An entry wound would have proved more than a single assassin and provoked more investigation. Also, why did they seal the unpublished portion of their findings for 75 years?

Finally, 13 years later The United States House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) in 1976 concluded that “President John F. Kennedy was probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy.”

They, like the Warren Commission, did their investigation mostly in secret. Unbelievably they too sealed their evidence for 50 years under Congressional rules. Withholding evidence feeds conspiracy theories. As the years fly by, and new data surfaces from the hundreds of books on the subject, it is increasingly more difficult to dismiss, as an accomplice, Lyndon Baines Johnson and his CIA/FBI friends.

My journalist friend, Don Clark, has personally read most of the 2,000 books on the subject and is a noted speaker on the assassination. He told an audience in San Francisco that while the government has not, or will not, pursue the subject, private investigators have done so and we do not have to wait for the sealed records. He has a recommend list of “must reads” on the subject and they follow.

First, get the directors cut of the motion picture JFK by Oliver Stone. Despite the profanity the “movie contains more spoken words, more script, than any film in history.”

Second, On the Trail of the Assassins by Jim Garrison (a former FBI agent) treats Oswald’s time in New Orleans and four government agents identified as “handlers” that seemed to “shadow” him.

Third, read JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters. A stunning piece of original research published in 2008, by James Douglass.

Fourth, read MARY’S MOSAIC: The CIA Conspiracy to Murder John F. Kennedy, Mary Pinchot Meyer, and Their Vision for World Peace, by Peter Janney. The work published in 2012 found that the author’s own “CIA father, was among the conspirators orchestrating the deaths of Kennedy and his friend Mary Pinchot Meyer. The latter’s death is also “in a veiled way” in the recent movie, An American Affair.

Fifth, read JFK: The CIA, Vietnam, and the Plot to Assassinate John F. Kennedy, by Air Force Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty, who served at the time of Kennedy’s death, as the key liaison between the Pentagon and the CIA.

Sixth, tying together many loose ends the following three books will help. Revealing the secret links between the most powerful law firm in Texas and the criminal rise to power of Lyndon Johnson is Blood, Money, & Power: How LBJ Killed JFK by Barr McClellan. LBJ: Mastermind of the JFK Assassination by Phillip Nelson. Texas in the Morning by Lyndon Johnson’s long-time mistress, Madeline Duncan Brown “takes you to the meeting the night before the assassination. She reveals the identities of the men in that room. She shares the story of Lyndon Johnson coming late to the meeting, then emerging in a fury, grabbing her by the arms so hard it hurt, and swearing in a rage, ‘After tomorrow, those goddamn Kennedy’s will never embarrass me again---and that’s not a threat, that’s a promise!’ ”

In light of decades of intensive reading, Clark poses the question, “Was it devious, desperate Lyndon Johnson, the viper in the nest, the Brutus to Kennedy’s Caesar, who with the help of J. Edgar Hoover had blackmailed his way onto the 1960 presidential ticket, who knew he was about to be dumped from the 1964 ticket, who knew he was about to be indicted and probably go to prison for his probable role in the Bobby Baker and Billy Sol Estes scandals, whose lifelong lust and endless scheming for the presidency would stop at nothing to get to that office, least of all murder?” Perhaps it is time to speak the unspeakable and be more inclusive of the new data in

Mark Udall and the Unspeakable
by David Swanson / November 22nd, 2014

President Obama, who is just now un-ending again the ending of the endless war on Afghanistan, has never made a secret of taking direction from the military, CIA, and NSA. He’s escalated wars that generals had publicly insisted he escalate. He’s committed to not prosecuting torturers after seven former heads of the CIA publicly told him not to. He’s gone after whistleblowers with a vengeance and is struggling to keep this Bush-era torture report, or parts of it, secret in a manner that should confuse his partisan supporters.

But the depth of elected officials’ obedience to a permanent war machine is usually a topic avoided in polite company — usually, not always. Back in 2011, the dean of the law school at UC Berkeley, a member of Obama’s transition team in 2009, said publicly that Obama had decided in 2009 to block prosecutions of Bush-era criminals in part because the CIA, NSA, and military would revolt. Ray McGovern says he has a trustworthy witness to Obama saying he would leave the crimes unpunished because, in Obama’s words, “Don’t you remember what happened to Martin Luther King?” Neither of those incidents has interested major media outlets in the slightest.

As we pass the 51st anniversary of the murder of President John F. Kennedy, many of us are urging Senator Mark Udall to make the torture report public by placing it into the Congressional Record, as Senator Mike Gravel did with the Pentagon Papers in 1971. Gravel is alive and well, and there’s every reason to believe that Udall would go on to live many years deeply appreciated for his action. But there is — let us be honest for a moment — a reason Udall might hesitate that we don’t want to speak about.

The general thinking is that because Udall’s term ends this month, he doesn’t have to please those who fund his election campaigns through the U.S. system of legalized bribery, and he doesn’t have to please his fellow corrupt senators because he won’t be working with them any longer. Both of those points may be false. Udall may intend to run for the Senate again, or — like most senators, I suspect — he may secretly plan on running for president some day. And the big payoffs for elected officials who work to please plutocracy always come after they leave office. But there is another consideration. The need to please the permanent war machine ends only when one is willing to die for something — what Dr. King said one must be willing to do to have a life worth living — not when one leaves office.

Presidents and Congress members send large numbers of people to risk their lives murdering much larger numbers of people in wars all the time. They have taken on jobs — particularly the presidency — in which they know they will be in danger no matter what they do. And yet everyone in Washington knows (and no one says) that making an enemy of the CIA is just not done and has not been done since the last man to do it died in a convertible in Dallas. We’ve seen progressive members of Congress like Dennis Kucinich leave without putting crucial documents that they thought should be public into the Congressional Record. Any member of Congress, newly reelected or not, could give the public the torture report. A group of 10 of them could do it collectively for the good of humanity. But nobody thinks they will. Challenging a president who does not challenge the CIA is just not something that’s done.

To understand why, I recommend reading Jim Douglass’ book JFK and the Unspeakable. Douglass is currently writing about three other murders, those of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., and Robert Kennedy. Distant history? Something that doesn’t happen anymore? Perhaps, but is that because we’ve run out of lone nuts with guns? Clearly not. Is it because the permanent war machine has stopped killing its enemies? Or is it, rather, because no one has presented the same challenge to the permanent war machine that those people did? Peace voices are no longer allowed in the U.S. media. Both political parties favor widespread war. War has become a matter of routine. Enforcement has become unnecessary, because the threat, or other influences that align with it, has been so successful.

I recommend checking out ProjectUnspeakable.com, the website of a play by Court Dorsey that recounts the killing of JFK, Malcolm, Martin, and RFK. (Or check out a performance in Harlem planned for February 21.)

The play consists almost entirely of actual quotes by public figures. While no attempt is made, of course, at including a comprehensive collection of information, enough evidence is included in the play to completely erase belief in the official stories of how those four men died. And evidence is included showing who actually killed them, how, and why.

As if that weren’t enough to persuade the viewer that our society is mentally blocking out something uncomfortable, the glaring obviousness of what happened in those years of assassinations is highlighted. President Kennedy was publicly asked if he might be murdered exactly as he was, and he publicly replied that it could certainly happen. His brother discussed the likelihood of it with Khrushchev for god sake. The killing of Malcolm X was not the war machine’s first attempt on his life. He and King both saw what was coming quite clearly and said so. Bobby Kennedy knew too, did not believe the official account of his brother’s murder. King’s family rejects the claim that James Earl Ray killed MLK, pointing instead to the CIA killer shown in the photographs of the assassination but never questioned as a witness. A jury has unanimously agreed with King’s family against the government and the history books.

The attention to President Kennedy has always been so intense that fear and suppression have been required. The doctors said he was shot from the front. Everyone agreed there were more bullets shot than left the gun of the official suspect, who was positioned behind the target. But investigators and witnesses have died in very suspect circumstances. The other deaths have not been in exactly the same glaring spotlight. New evidence in the killing of Robert Kennedy emerges every few years and is chatted about as a curiosity for a moment before simply being ignored. After all, the man is dead.

Let’s try an analogy. I live in Charlottesville, Va., where the University of Virginia is. This week, Rolling Stone published an article about violent gang rapes of female students in a fraternity house. I had known that rape victims are often reluctant to come forward. I had known that rape can be a hard charge to prove. But I had also known that young women sometimes regret sex and falsely accuse nonviolent well-meaning young men of rape, and that UVA held rallies against date rape, and that opposition to sexual assault and harassment was all over the news and widely accepted as the proper progressive position. With California passing a law to clarify what consent is, I had assumed everyone knew violent assault had nothing to do with consent. I had assumed brutal gang attacks by students who are expelled if they cheat on a test or write a bad check could not go unknown. And now it seems there’s something of a widely known unspoken epidemic. In the analysis of the Rolling Stone article, women deny rape goes on to shield themselves from the fear, while men deny it in order to shield themselves from any discomfort about their party-going fun-loving carelessness. And yet some significant number of students knew and stayed silent until one brave victim spoke, just as every whistleblower in Washington exists alongside thousands of people who keep their mouths shut.

What if someone in Washington were to speak? What if the unspeakable were made speakable?

FBI JFK Assassination

The people of the TSBD were likewise ultraconservative. Roy Truly, the building manager, strongly disapproved of Kennedy’s foreign policies and believed him to be a “race mixer.” [9] Gladys Cason, wife of the president of the TSBD, said on one occasion that someone ought to shoot President Kennedy. [10] Her husband Jack was active in the American Legion since 1945. As post commander, he was involved, or simpatico, with J. Edgar Hoover’s recruitment of Legionnaires as informants. By 1943, some 60,000 Legion members belonging to 11,000 posts around the country served as confidential informants. Among their tasks was safeguarding the security of defense plants, transportation facilities, and public utilities. [11]

In line with the FBI’s mission to spy on leftist groups was Joe Molina, who worked as
credit manager at the TSBD since 1947. Molina and FBI undercover agent Bill Lowery worked together to infiltrate the American GI Forum, a leftist organization. Working for the CIA was William Shelley, who was in the TSBD miscellaneous department. Billy Lovelady, truck driver for the TSBD, was involved in an illegal weapons deal when he was in the Air Force in Washington DC. [12] Joe Bergin, manager of the Scott Foresman office on the fourth floor of the TSBD, was secretly a Texas Ranger.

The link of the schoolbook business to the intelligence agencies is well-established. Working as law editor for Bobbs Merrill in Indianapolis since the late 1960s was CIA agent William Harvey, [13] who played an active part in the Kennedy assassination. On the third floor of the TSBD was McGraw-Hill. It was not only a publisher of schoolbooks, it was also was a contractor for the Foreign Technology Division, devoted to collecting data on Soviet aerospace technology. Professors and scholars engaged in this activity used as their cover the seemingly innocuous name of the schoolbook firm. [14] At 4640 Harry Hines Boulevard was the office of Van Nostrand. In September 1965 a Van Nostrand schoolbook salesman, Newcomb Mott, entered the Soviet Union without a visa by crossing the Norwegian border. Suspecting him of being a CIA agent, the Soviets arrested Mott and put him on trial for entering the country illegally. He was convicted and sentenced to a forced labor camp. Before he got there, he committed suicide, or was murdered, using a razor blade received in a gift package from the American Embassy. Mott’s entry into the Soviet Union by a little known and remote route parallels the way Lee Harvey Oswald entered the Soviet Union via Finland. [15]

When Oswald returned to the United States, his friend George de Mohrenschildt helped him get a job at a typesetting company called Jaggars Chiles Stovall at 522 Browder Street, where it had been since 1941. He worked as a cameraman from October 1962 to April 1963. Although most of his work was commercial, some of it consisted of top secret projects for the Navy Bureau Materiel and the Army Mapping Service.

SPEAKERS AND PANEL PARTICIPANTS

JOHN BARBOUR
John Barbour, a Canadian native, is recognized as “the father of reality TV” with five Emmy Awards to his credit. Known for his numerous TV programs, including “NBC’s trendsetting hit ‘Real People,” NBC’s award-winning “Critic-at-Large” and “AM LA,” the witty and talented Barbour is the only person to have won Emmy’s in both Entertainment and News. As a stand-up comic, and as a writer for politicians and personalities such as Frank Sinatra, John has enjoyed an inside view of media politics.

His interest in the Kennedy assassination has been long and professional. He produced The Garrison Tapes (John filmed Garrison personally). The tapes are also available on Amazon (The Last Word on the Assassination).  John says: “In spite of great reviews, winning the San Sebastian Film Festival and enormous success around the world, The Garrison Tapes has been almost totally blacked out by America’s mainstream media.” His newest project is The American Media and the Second Assassination of President John F. Kennedy (see https://www.gofundme.com/johnbarboursworld) — a presentation you don’t want to miss.

JUDYTH VARY BAKER
Judyth Vary Baker is an artist, writer, poet and futurist with degrees in Medical/Cultural Anthropology, Communications, English and Linguistics. She is the author of Me & Lee: How I came to know, love and lose Lee Harvey Oswald, an underground best seller. Her book David Ferrie, Mafia Pilot (Trine Day, 2014) was the first definitive full-length biography of the enigmatic man called “the key to the Kennedy assassination.” Her third book, Letters to the Cyborgs (Trine Day, 2016) is a collection of science fiction short stories using both terror and humor to expose a world plagued by unethical and frightening inventions that exist today.

“Both Lee and I were fascinated by the world of science fiction,” Baker explains. “We both wanted to write science fiction.” The only such story ever written by Lee Harvey Oswald (“Her Way”) is included in Letters, as well as a section about the FBI’s investigation of Lee’s readings and writings. Judyth’s fourth book, Kennedy & Oswald: The Big Picture, co-written with Edward Schwartz, will be released late in 2016. “It’s everything you’ll ever need to know about how –and why– the Kennedy assassination and Oswald’s murder is the key to today’s newspaper headlines,” Judyth says.

Judyth invented a modified method to obtain magnesium from seawater when 16, induced lung cancer in germ-free mice in only seven days when 17  (— a feat that had not been accomplished, at the time, in the nation’s top laboratories) and created a cancer-detection blood test in college when 18. After nearly two years of specialized training, Judyth, promised early entry into Tulane Medical School after a summer internship in New Orleans with the renowned Dr. Mary Sherman, found herself in a project to kill Fidel Castro with lung cancer involving a persons such as Lee Harvey Oswald and “Dr.” David Ferrie.

Author Edward T. Haslam discovered Baker was the last living witness who could verify particulars of his own decades-long, extensive research into the connections between Sherman’s brutal, unsolved murder on July 21, 1964 (the day the Warren Commission came to New Orleans to obtain testimonies), Dr. Alton Ochsner, Lee Oswald, contaminated polio vaccines, David Ferrie, cancer epidemics and the Kennedy assassination.

Judyth, who had an affair with Oswald, is determined to clear his name. She founded the JFK Assassination Conference, now in its fourth year. In 2016, the second annual Oswald Conference will be held in New Orleans, assisted by Judyth’s “politically incorrect annual birthday parties in Lee’s honor” there.  She also sponsors the JFK Memorial Ceremony at the Grassy Knoll on Nov. 22. To be part of these efforts or to donate (it’s all non-profit) contact “Judyth Baker” on Facebook, or contact Trine Day Publishers or http://www.judythbaker.blogspot.com.

RICHARD BARTHOLOMEW

Richard Bartholomew establishes the certification and reliability of fingerprint expert Nathan Darby, who identified the main unknown print of a known murderer which was found in the Sniper’s nest. Richard will show that more than one print of LBJ hit man Malcolm Wallace’s was found there–and much more. Richard’s education, training, and professional experience have been primarily in the visual arts.
His research of the JFK assassination includes the notable discovery of a 1959 Rambler station wagon possibly used in the conspiracy; a study co-authored with Walter F. Graf involving a rifle clip that contaminates the ballistic evidence; a chronological reconstruction and placement of missing movements edited out of the Zapruder film; an in-depth interview of Erwin Schwartz, with author Noel Twyman, regarding Mr. Schwartz’s and Mr. Zapruder’s early chain of possession of Zapruder’s film; and work for author Barr McClellan, resulting in Mr. Bartholomew’s monograph establishing the methods by which the FBI and the Warren Commission concealed and obfuscated latent fingerprints from the alleged sniper’s nest.

ABRAHAM BOLDEN
Abraham Bolden is one of the heroes of the Kennedy assassination saga who has personally suffered as a consequence. He was the first black Secret Service Agent, appointed by President Kennedy himself. Bolden was present in Chicago when the FBI announced to his office that an informant named “Lee” had foiled at an attempt to assassinate the president in that city. This matter is also reported in James Douglass’ fine book, JFK and the Unspeakable. Abraham’s book, The Echo From Dealey Plaza, is available on Amazon. Learn more here about this remarkable witness from this blog: http://abrahambolden.blogspot.com

At this conference, we plan to bring together all the petitions seeking Abraham a pardon, into one, with the intention of presenting them as a unified group to the President. Abraham has suffered as a witness — he tried to expose the Secret Service’s poor performance regarding protecting Kennedy — landed him in prison on trumped-up charges. Just as Lee Oswald, Abraham Bolden was framed. He has much to tell us as an original witness connected to both John F. Kennedy and the Kennedy assassination.

JIM BOTELHO
Jim Botelho was Lee Harvey Oswald’s Marine Corps friend and roommate. Jim was born in 1937 in Hollister, California. He grew up on his family’s small farm in San Juan Valley. By the time he was 7, he and his sister worked in the fields on the farm. He attended a small, two room, rural elementary school located across the street from the family farm. He attended high school in Hollister and has just finished one year of College at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, when he felt the need to serve his County and joined the United States Marine Corp; it was 1956.  He was assigned to be an “aviation electronics operator”: that’s a Radar Operator.

After joining the Marines he was stationed in Tustin, California; at the time a small isolated helicopter base. In mid 1959, Lee Oswald was transferred to his squadron. There, they became friends and shared a room. Lee was discharged in September 1959, and Jim was discharged in January 1960.

After his service, he returned home and to work on the family farm during the day, and served the community as a deputy sheriff at night. Jim also worked in the construction trade, having various jobs, as well as continued his education, taking various college courses to improve his skills in many topics. Jim married in 1960 and had three boys and a daughter. As you can guess, Jim was interviewed by the Warren Commission in 1964.

In 1968, he was appointed a Justice Court Judge, where he served as a Judge until 1977 when he retired from the bench. Since about 1973, a number of people have asked him for comments and recollection of Lee Oswald. A few notable names are Mark Lane, Edward Epstein, David Lifton, John Donovan, and Ray Hale. In 1993, he started a business specializing in Construction Inspection Services. He is now retired, and living in the wonderfully cool climate of the Monterey Bay area in Marina, California.

DOUGLAS CADDY
Douglas Caddy is an attorney in Houston, Texas and is admitted to the Texas and District of Columbia Bars. Doug is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and New York University Law School. He is the author of six books, three published by Texas A&M University Press and one, Watergate Exposed, published by TrineDay.

While in high school in New Orleans in 1955, he worked with former FBI agent Guy Banister on exposing organized crime. At the time Lee Harvey Oswald, who was also in high school, and his mother lived on Exchange Place in the French Quarter, only a five minute walk from Banister’s office.

He was the Original Attorney for the Watergate Seven in 1972 and represented Billie Sol Estes in 1984 in negotiations with the U.S. Department of Justice to secure immunity so that Mr. Estes could tell what he knew about LBJ’s involvement in the assassination of JFK. In addition to Mr. Estes’ revelations, he will disclose at the conference what his client and close friend, E. Howard Hunt, knew about JFK’s assassination. He will also disclose the truth about Mac Wallace and Joan Mellen’s flawed research about the fingerprint controversy.

OLE DAMMEGARD
Ole Dammegård, awarded the Prague Peace Prize 2016, is an author, International speaker, and former journalist, an investigator who has dedicated the last 30 years of his life to researching many of the global conspiracies. His main focus has been to find out the truth about the assassinations of JFK, the Swedish Prime minister Olof Palme, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, John Lennon and Lady Di, plus the terror attacks of 911, Norway, Oklahoma City and many more. He is now considered a leading expert on false flag operations and is believed to have managed to expose and stop several planned massacres.

Over the past 30 years, Ole has discovered links between all of these assassinations, which has led him to believe that the same people were involved in both the JFK and Olof Palme murders, as well as other major ‘events’. The same Global Elite seem to have used the same skilled mechanics for decades for doing their ‘dirty work’.

He has written the following books: Coup d’etat in Slow Motion: Part I and II, Shadow of Tears (my experience in Iran), The power book Re-Mind Me, the children’s book Yolanda Yogapanda – Truth is One, Paths are Many. Ole is currently working on the following titles; A Global Tour of Terror Part I and II, The Elusive Enigma and the book Guilty Victim. He is also busy with a series of documentaries aiming at exposing false flag operations currently hitting modern society.

Ole has been among the key speakers at many International conferences, including outside the Bilderberg Meeting in 2014, and has had the privilege of being a special guest on hundreds of programs.

GARY FANNIN
Gary Fannin has been studying the John F. Kennedy Assassination for over 36 years. He has lectured at High Schools, Colleges, Universities and numerous JFK Conferences in Dallas. His book The Innocence of Oswald: 50+ Years of Lies, Deception & Deceit in the Murders of President John F. Kennedy & Officer J.D. Tippit was published in 2015. The Innocence of Oswald is based upon U.S. Government documents from the FBI, CIA, Office of Naval Intelligence and Secret Service,  many of which have never been printed before.  It also includes Dallas Police affidavits, autopsy reports, photos and more to prove that Lee Harvey Oswald was completely innocent of the crimes he was charged and was in fact, ‘a patsy.’

Gary is currently working with 5 time Emmy Award Winner, John Barbour, on The Jim Garrison Tapes, Part 2: The American Media and the 2nd Assassination of President Kennedy. This documentary is the follow up to the Sans Sebastian Film Winner, The Jim Garrison Tapes. This documentary will establish U.S. Major Media complicity in the cover up of the JFK assassination with Lee Oswald as designated patsy.

He is also working on his second book, Mandarin, the updated story of Roscoe Anthony White, his relationship with Lee Harvey Oswald in the Marines, how Oswald was set up as the patsy, and  White’s claims that the U.S. Office of Naval Intelligence ordered him to kill President Kennedy.

GORDON FERRIE
Gordon Ferrie has emerged from the silence imposed on him previously to reveal new inside information about JFK and who really killed Kennedy. As a former designated protector of  Jackie Kennedy from the time JFK took office, as well as serving as a bodyguard for JFK at the Pentagon, Gordon spoke this year at the JFK Center for the Performing Arts on JFK’s Birthday because of his relationship with the Kennedy’s.

After the assassination, Gordon remained associated with Jackie and JFK Jr. through their mutual love for horsemanship (Gordon was an official of the US Equestrian team). A close friend of of Barr McClellan, who worked in LBJ’s attorney system, Gordon tells us that “Due to security I could not previously go into the huge amount of information I have from my activities of over 50 years, but with my new book to be released, this has changed. I am the only person to personally nail LBJ about Eliot Janeway and get him to confess… Richard Helms attempted to stop me from looking into his role in the murders of Material Witnesses and CIA contract Officers participating in the Cuban operations. I got people to to talk.”

We will have a CD of additional fascinating information that Gordon has given to us that will be available at the conference.

JAMES H. FETZER, PhD
James H. Fetzer, a former Marine Corps officer, is McKnight Professor Emeritus at the Duluth Campus of the University of Minnesota, from which he retired in 2006, completing a 35-year career, principally offering courses in logic, critical thinking and scientific reasoning.

Jim organized the first Zapruder Film Symposium at JFK Lancer in 1996. He has brought together the best experts on different aspects of the case in a series of books that shattered the cover-up and exposed a massive conspiracy in the death of JFK: Assassination Evidence (1998), Murder In Dealey Plaza (2000) and The Great Zapruder Film Hoax (2003).

Never afraid of looking into controversial subjects, to date, he has published 33 books, his most recent with moonrockbooks.com.

VICTORIA HAWES
Victoria Hawes Sulzer is a witness regarding meeting Lee Harvey Oswald at Dr. Mary Sherman’s apartment building –and much more. Victoria is one of several witnesses never interviewed by the FBI who are now helping to verify Lee Oswald’s true activities and his innocence, as well as helping to support what Judyth Baker has also revealed about Oswald, his association with Dr. Sherman, and his true activities in New Orleans.

Victoria writes: “[Lee and I attended] Beauregard Jr. High School…[also,] I met Dr. Mary Sherman in passing, polite greetings, not a personal close relationship, the Patio Apartments was so small, isolated in contact, but cordial and lent itself to privacy.” Victoria also reveals what she knows about Oswald’s companion, apartment resident Juan Valdez, who lived next door to her and to Dr. Sherman. Edward T. Haslam (Dr. Mary’s Monkey) considers Valdez a prime suspect in Dr. Sherman’s horrific murder.

SAINT JOHN HUNT
St. John Hunt’s father was E. Howard Hunt, the infamous Watergate burglar and CIA spymaster. St. John tells us, “My father helped the CIA kill JFK.” In E. Howard Hunt’s near-death confession to his son St. John, which was taped for posterity, Hunt revealed that key figures in the CIA were responsible for the plot to assassinate JFK in Dallas, and that Hunt himself was approached by the plotters, among whom included the CIA’s David Atlee Phillips, Cord Meyer, Jr., and William Harvey, as well as future Watergate burglar Frank Sturgis.

St. John has an insider’s viewpoint, and it’s heartbreaking. His incredible true story is told in his two books: Bond of Secrecy (2012) by St. John Hunt, with Eric Hamburg and Jesse Ventura, and, concerning the secrets and horrific murder of his mother, Dorothy… the Murder of E. Howard Hunt’s Wife… (2015) by St. John Hunt, with Roger Stone. St. John is a professional musician with “St. John and the Sinners”.

PETER JANNEY
Dr. Peter Janney is a psychologist and psychotherapist who is also the author of the best-selling book Mary’s Mosaic, the CIA Conspiracy to Murder John F. Kennedy, Mary Pinchot Meyer, and Their Vision for World Peace. The son of an important CIA agent who was close friends with James Jesus Angleton and others associated with Kennedy’s assassination, Peter as a teen loved and admired the beautiful Mary Pinchot Myers, who was JFK’s last mistress. Shocked by news of her murder within a year of JFK’s, hear from Peter’s own mouth the secrets he uncovered about Mary’s brutal murder and the involvement of the CIA.

“Kennedy scholars, JFK assassination researchers and all concerned Americans owe Peter Janney their deep gratitude for his relentless exploration into the professional-style murder of Mary Meyer – a woman who, as Kennedy’s mistress and a former CIA wife, simply knew too much for her own good. Janney, who knew and adored Meyer as a boy, brings his own personal sense of mission to this investigative project. The story of Meyer’s murder, and its coverup, is one more fascinating footnote to the Kennedy assassination, and it shines an important light on the forces behind the tragic events in Dallas, a tragedy from which the country is still suffering.” – David Talbot, founder of Salon, and New York Times bestselling author of The Devil’s Chessboard

ANDREW KREIG

The Washington, DC based author is an investigative reporter, non-profit executive, attorney and broadcast commentator.

ROY EDWARD LEWIS
Roy Lewis worked in the Texas School Book Depository with Lee Harvey Oswald. He can been seen in the famous Altgens6 photo taken the moment Kennedy was struck by the first bullet, standing facing to his left, and after the shots, running down the street toward the grassy knoll. Critics who did not like what Larry Rivera posted about his interview with Roy Lewis stated the fact that Lewis said he did not see Lee Oswald in the doorway. One comment was: “When I ask him if he recalls Oswald standing RIGHT NEXT TO HIM AS THE SHOTS WERE FIRED, what do you think he’s most likely to say…?”

The answer is simple: all photos show Lewis standing in front of the doorway figure, not next to him. Because of foreshortening in the Altgens6 photo, it looks like Lewis is ‘right under’ the doorway figure, but in other views, it is obvious that the figure is well behind him, not next to him. In 1964, Lewis said he thought all shots came from the TSBD. However, when Lewis was asked if it could have been Billy Lovelady standing, instead of Oswald, Lewis said he knew Billy Lovelady very well and had even purchased a car from him, but Lovelady was heaver, shorter, and almost bald. Hear what he has to say at the conference.

WAYNE MADSEN
Wayne Madsen is a print and online investigative journalist, author and columnist. He is the author of the blog Wayne Madsen Report. He has appeared on major television news networks as a commentator and contributor. He has previously served as a U.S. naval office and worked at the National Security Agency, the Department of State, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He is the author of fourteen books on subjects ranging from the the Bush family, David Petraeus, and Barack Obama to data privacy and genocide in Africa.

Wikipedia says: “He has been described as a conspiracy theorist.” Wikipedia also tells us that Madsen is considered “one of the world’s leading SIGINT and computer security experts.[17] 15]During his long employment with EPIC — the Electronic Privacy Information Center –he appeared as a guest on 60 Minutes,[18] ABC Nightline,[19] Voice of America,[20] National Public Radio.,[21] and Marketplace,[22].

Madsen was responsible for a big story in The Guardian about Edward Snowden and “Echelon”–secret data exchanges between the US and Europe– which was pulled solely because Madsen was the source. According to The Guardian,”…the [story]… was sound, but it was wrong to connect Wayne Madsen with the story. For this reason, the original story was removed from the website, and the Observer splash was replaced.”[35]. Wikipedia also says: “In 2003 he claimed that he had uncovered information in a classified congressional report that he said contained information linking the September 11 attacks to the government of Saudi Arabia and the Bush administration through financial transactions with the hijackers. The Saudi Foreign Minister demanded the report be declassified so it could respond, however, the Bush administration refused, claiming that to do so would compromise intelligence sources and methods.”[36]

Considering the recent lawsuits that 9-11 families are bringing against Saudi Arabia, maybe Madsen “had something.” We think he can’t be wrong all of the time. Hear what he knows about Ted Cruz’ father, Rafael, and Lee Harvey Oswald.

JIM MARRS
Jim Marrs, a Texas native born in 1943, began working as a journalist while in junior high school. After graduating from University of North Texas in 1966 he attended Graduate School at Texas Tech in Lubbock, joined the United States Army, and then became a police reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. After serving with the Fourth Army intelligence unit during the Vietnam War, he became a military and aerospace writer and an investigative reporter.  After interviewing members of the Dallas Police Department, witnesses and city officials, Jim realized that the Warren Commission participated in a cover-up of the Kennedy assassination Jim continued to investigate the case, and in 1976 began teaching a course about the assassination for the University of Texas at Arlington.

In 1989 Jim published Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy (updated, 2013) – a major source of inspiration for Oliver Stone’s movie “JFK,” where he was a chief consultant.  Listed both in Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in America, Jim has won writing and photography awards such as the Aviation Aerospace Writer’s Association’s National Writing Award and Freedom Magazine’s Human Rights Leadership Award. Marrs has appeared on all major TV channels, is often quoted in documentaries, and continues to write best-selling books investigating government crimes, hidden agendas, and controversial subjects others fear to touch.

BARR McCLELLAN
Barr McClellan is an attorney, business consultant and author (best-seller Blood, Money & Power). Barr was an attorney for LBJ for ten years and assisted with the bonus for LBJ’s super-attorney Ed Clark, the man who made arrangements for the assassination. Barr will discuss the Kennedy family views on Warren, John Jr’s call for penitence, the unified action between LBJ-CIA-Mafia, the Billie Sol Estes tapes, the grand jury action recommending LBJ be indicted for murder, and the trial of Clint Peoples Eliot.

Most telling, Eliot Janeway (economist for the Democratic party) provided LBJ’s admissions of his deep involvement. The connection to deep, dark politics emerges: the dangers LBJ presented to world peace are disclosed. Barr: “A trial is necessary. That key step must be provided. Steps to restore trust in America, to reduce the banality of corruption, and to complete closure of the malaise still impacting America will then be accomplished.”

Barr obtained his knowledge from the many disclosures he was told by people on the Kennedy side. He considers these facts of history to be a trust provided him. He is intent on fulfilling that trust. He is available as a consultant for movies and documentaries regarding this Crime of the Century, which was a crime against humanity.

PHILLIP F. NELSON
After years of researching Johnson and the JFK assassination, Phillip F. Nelson conclusively showed that LBJ had an active role in JFK’s assassination. His best-selling books LBJ: The Mastermind of the JFK Assassination and LBJ: from “Mastermind” to Colossus describe the darkly obsessive mind of one of America’s most ambitious and calculating politicians. A quote from page 77 of LBJ Mastermind will give you a glimpse of what Nelson knows: “There were extended relationships between many men at the lower levels of the hierarchy headed by Lyndon Johnson, the ultimate dispenser of political influence, and his closest associate, Bobby Baker. The next level in the “triangle of influence” connected Baker, Clint Murchison, and James Hoffa directly to Carlos Marcello, the Mafia chieftain of New Orleans, as well as his longtime lobbyist Irving Davidson.”

Phillip, who spoke to our conference in 2014, has acquired more information since then that we are anxious to hear. He worked in the property-casualty insurance industry and as an independent business owner until he retired at the age of fifty-eight and began his extensive research into the unsolved murder of our thirty-fifth president.

ANGELINA NOBILE
Angelina Nobile, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, is the youngest daughter of Judge August Nobile. She writes: “[Two years before ] my father died, after heart surgery he revealed many surprising things to me. My father was an attorney, Secretary of the Police Jury, Assistant District Attorney and finally Judge of the 25th Judicial District Court, Louisiana. His political career in St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes commenced under his mentor, the colorful right-wing Judge Leander Perez, Sr. These parishes were considered part of the New Orleans metropolitan statistical area. Leander Perez, Sr., known as “The Delta Boss” since 1919, and his political machine ruled these parishes with an iron hand. Because of his close association with Perez, Judge Nobile knew Jim Garrison, Guy Banister, Salvadore La Charda and Carlos Marcello among many others. Judge Nobile was privy to the intense objections to JFK, Robert Kennedy and MLK. Clandestine and conspiratorial activities of the Perez political organization and the organization run by Carlos Marcello, who owned gambling establishments in the parishes, was well know in the area.

A back swamp, oil rich political machine and an organized crime syndicate came together with a national government entity to make a plan where everyone would get what they needed in order to continue their secret and illegal activities. Their plan came to a culmination on November 22, 1963 with the shocking assassination of JFK. Angeline has come forth to speak for the first time to inform the world that Lee Harvey Oswald was an innocent man who was used to obscure the truth and the culprits who had a hand in the JFK assassination plan. She is not writing a book nor is she receiving any monetary compensation for her story.

CLAUDIA RODICK
Claudia Rodick is the granddaughter of Susie Hanover, who was Judyth Vary Baker’s landlady in New Orleans in 1963. Failed Investigations of JFK’s Murder
November 21, 2016

More than a half century later, John F. Kennedy’s assassination still resonates not only because of its historical importance but because the investigation was more a cover-up than a pursuit of truth, says researcher Gary Aguilar.

By Gary Aguilar

November 22 marks the 53rd anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination. If history is any guide, it’s likely some mainstream outlet will commemorate that dark day with reassurances that the Warren Commission was right that Lee Harvey Oswald did it alone, and that most doubters, who have been in the majority since the mid-1960s, are randy conspiracy theorists. That is the essential message by one of the experts likely to be cited this year, attorney Howard Willens.

President John F. Kennedy in the motorcade through Dallas shortly before his assassination on Nov. 22, 1963. (Photo credit: Walt Cisco, Dallas Morning News)
One of the few still-living Warren Commission staffers, Willens followed up his 2013 book, History Will Prove Us Right, with a spirited defense of the Commission in the summer, 2016 issue of the journal, The American Scholar, which he co-wrote with another Commission staffer, attorney Richard Mosk. The piece, “The Truth About Dallas,” is a celebration of the work and conclusions of the original investigation.

But Willens’s and Mosk’s defense of the work of the Warren Commission they served on is more notable for what they omit from the official record than what they include. “What the critics often forget or ignore,” they write, “is that since 1964, several government agencies have also looked at aspects of our work,” (p. 59) as if the Church Committee and the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) had reviewed and applauded the Commission’s work.

Indeed, they did look at it. But rather than plaudits, they issued stinging rebukes, principally for the Commission’s having been rolled by FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, and to a lesser extent, by the CIA and the Secret Service.

“It must be said that the FBI generally exhausted its resources in confirming its case against Oswald as the lone assassin,” the HSCA concluded, “a case that Director J. Edgar Hoover, at least, seemed determined to make within 24 hours of the of the assassination.”

In essence, the experienced investigators concluded that Hoover had divined the solution to the crime before starting the inquiry, and then his agents confirmed the boss’s epiphany. The intimidated Warren Commission went right along.

FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover
And with good reason, only part of which Willens and Mosk tell. They admit that the “FBI had originally opposed the creation of the Warren Commission” and that Hoover “ordered investigations of commission staff members.” But they don’t tell that Hoover deployed one of his favorite dirty tricks to deal not only with support staffers, such as Willens and Mosk, but also with the commissioners themselves.

“[D]erogatory information pertaining to both Commission members and staff was brought to Mr. Hoover’s attention,” the Church Committee reported. (emphasis added)

Hoover’s Spy

Willens and Mosk also forgot to mention that Hoover had a personal spy on the Warren Commission, then Rep. Gerald Ford, who tattled on Commissioners who were (justifiably) skeptical of the Bureau’s work.

“Ford indicated he would keep me thoroughly advised as to the activities of the Commission,” FBI Agent Cartha DeLoach wrote in a once secret memo. “He stated this would have to be done on a confidential basis, however he thought it should be done.”

Autopsy photo of President John F. Kennedy.
At the bottom of the memo, Hoover scrawled, “Well handled.” The success of Hoover’s machinations was obvious to subsequent government investigators. (Ford, of course, later became President upon the resignation of Richard Nixon in 1974.)

The HSCA’s chief counsel, Notre Dame Law Professor Robert Blakey, a criminal investigator and prosecutor with vastly better credentials than either Willens or Mosk, was impressed with neither the Commission’s vigor nor its independence.

“What was significant,” Blakey determined, “was the ability of the FBI to intimidate the Commission, in light of the Bureau’s predisposition on the questions of Oswald’s guilt and whether there had been a conspiracy. At a January 27 [1964] Commission meeting, there was another dialogue [among Warren Commissioners]:

“John McCloy: ‘… the time is almost overdue for us to have a better perspective of the FBI investigation than we now have … We are so dependent on them for our facts … .’

“Commission counsel J. Lee Rankin: ‘Part of our difficulty in regard to it is that they have no problem. They have decided that no one else is involved … .’

“Senator Richard Russell: ‘They have tried the case and reached a verdict on every aspect.’

“Senator Hale Boggs: ‘You have put your finger on it.’ (Closed Warren Commission meeting.)” [Blakey & Billings, Fatal Hour– The Assassination of President. See also: North, Act of Treason]

Testifying before the HSCA, the Warren Commission’s chief counsel J. Lee Rankin shamefully admitted, “Who could protest against what Mr. Hoover did back in those days?” Apparently not President Lyndon Johnson’s blue-ribbon commissioners.

The HSCA’s Blakey also reported that “When asked if he was satisfied with the (Commission’s) investigation that led to the (no conspiracy) conclusion, Judge Burt Griffin (a Commission staff member) said he was not.” [Blakey & Billings, Ibid.]

And author Gus Russo reported that Judge Griffin also admitted, “We spent virtually no time investigating the possibility of conspiracy. I wish we had.” [Russo, Live by the Sword]

Clear Misgivings

Thus, despite their clear misgivings, the Commissioners bowed to the imperious FBI chief rather than conduct a thorough investigation. Notably, the Commission never once employed a rudimentary investigative tool. “The Commission,” the HSCA reported, “failed to utilize the instruments of immunity from prosecution and prosecution for perjury with respect to witnesses whose veracity it doubted.” [US Cong. House of Reps. Report of Comm. on Assassinations, 1979]

Lee Harvey Oswald, the accused assassin of President John F. Kennedy.
This policy had serious repercussions when the Commission confronted two key issues: published claims that Lee Harvey Oswald had been an FBI informant, and the possibility that Jack Ruby was mobbed up.

“The Commission did not investigate Hoover or the FBI, and managed to avoid the appearance of doing so,” the HSCA determined. “It ended up doing what the members had agreed they would not do: Rely mainly on the FBI’s denial of the allegations (that Oswald had been a Bureau informant).”

Hoover merely sent the Commission his signed affidavit declaring that Oswald was not an informant and also “sent over 10 additional affidavits from each FBI agent who had had contact with Oswald.” And with that, case closed.

Regarding Jack Ruby, the FBI had his phone records, yet failed to spot Ruby’s obvious, and atypical, pattern of calls to known Mafiosi in the weeks leading up to the assassination. After performing the simple, obvious task of actually analyzing those calls, the HSCA determined that, if not a sworn member of La Cosa Nostra, Ruby had ongoing, close links to numerous Mafiosi.

Thus the HSCA roundly rejected the Warren Commission’s conclusion that, “the evidence does not establish a significant link between Ruby and organized crime.”

The list of Warren Commission shortcomings that the HSCA assembled is not short. A brief summary of them runs some 47 pages in the Bantam Books version of the report (p. 289–336), which outlines what required much of the 500 pages of HSCA volume XI to cover (available on-line).

“The evidence indicates that facts which may have been relevant to, and would have substantially affected, the Warren Commission’s investigation were not provided by the agencies (FBI and the CIA). Hence, the Warren Commission’s findings may have been formulated without all of the relevant information.”

The Church Committee said that the problem was that “the Commission was perceived as an adversary by both Hoover and senior FBI officials.” “Such a relationship,” the Committee dryly observed, “was not conductive to the cooperation necessary for a thorough and exhaustive investigation.”

But the FBI did more than just withhold evidence from the Commission. Although they admit that the FBI destroyed a note Oswald wrote to Agent Hosty, and withheld that information from the Commission, Willens and Mosk don’t mention that Agent Hosty reported that his own personnel file, and other FBI files, had been falsified. [Hosty, Jr. Assignment: Oswald]

Nor that author Curt Gentry learned from assistant FBI director William Sullivan that there were other JFK documents at the Bureau that had been destroyed. [Gentry, J. Edgar Hoover– The Man and His Secrets]

Perhaps one of the reasons the public has remained mistrustful of the government’s conclusions, and the mainstream media reassurances, is the sort of selective presentation of evidence by ax grinders like Willens and Mosk who get heralded by our “responsible” media.

Gary Aguilar is one of the few physicians outside the government ever allowed to see the still-restricted JFK autopsy photos and X-rays. He has published and lectured on the topic of the JFK assassination for many years.

Fast and Furious:Time
for decisive action
BY MATTHEW SMITH-MECK, CONTRIBUTOR - 11/21/16 04:18 PM EST 23

“Silence in the face of evil is evil itself. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”

That soul-searching quote by the German Lutheran pastor, anti-Nazi dissident and martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer hopefully will now serve as a clarion call – finally – for decisive action regarding the illegal weapons-running debacle known as Fast and Furious that left hundreds of dead in its wake, including Border Patrol agent, former police officer and Marine veteran Brian Terry.

As relayed previously, Brian Terry had reported corruption associated with government personnel regarding weapons-running. A source who was a close friend of Brian’s stated during a recent conversation that Brian described how he discovered some of his government co-workers were getting paid by not just a cartel but the Sinaloa Cartel.
Agent Terry confronted the government authorities, calling them out regarding their actions. He was cautioned by them to get involved or else “watch his back.”

When he asked them to explain what they meant, they warned him there would be a “bounty on his head.” On that fateful night Agent Terry was called to respond to alleged ground sensor activity in the proximity of Peck Canyon, he confided in his friend, “I don’t think I’m coming back.”

As was reported on her Sunday show, “Full Measure,” the esteemed investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson – one of the first to break the Fast and Furious story - reports on illegal activity she uncovered regarding Customs and Border Protection officers on the take – corrupted by drug cartels and human traffickers. Some of the questions which need to be answered:

- Was Brian Terry wearing his bulletproof vest or not? This is relevant in determining the type of round that killed Brian. There is conflicting testimony and facts surrounding this important question.

- Why won’t the Government provide Brian Terry’s vest for the family to examine? The family has repeatedly requested this critical piece of evidence.

- Why was Brian Terry placed in a Border Patrol vehicle for transport to a local fire department instead of calling in a MEDEVAC helicopter, as would normally be standard procedure with such a grave wound? Again, the family simply would like an answer.

- Was Brian Terry shot with a 9mm round or with a 7.62mm (AK-47) round? If it were a 9mm round, from what weapon was it discharged? Again, there is conflicting information, and the family is still requesting clarification.

- Why hasn’t the family been provided data from the ground movement sensors collected the night of December 14, 2010? This data would confirm the alleged foot traffic of the illegals who Brian was sent out to interdict and who allegedly killed him.

- Why did it take the Government over four and one half years to return the personal cell phone of Brian Terry? When the family queried the FBI Tucson office, they were told it was “overlooked” in Brian Terry’s vest (the same vest the family is asking to examine).

- What legal justification was used by the Government to search and ransack Brian Terry’s residence after his murder, removing all electronic devices? The family was told Brian’s residence was not a crime scene.

- Why wasn’t the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee provided the three emails Agent Brian Terry wrote to the National Border Patrol Council, the union which represents Border Patrol agents? The family was told this would happen years ago, yet Kent Terry received a call earlier this year from Rep. Jason Chaffetz stating the Committee never received nor knew of the subject emails.

- Was Operation Fast and Furious part of a larger, international weapons sales program?

- Have both the House Oversight and Government Reform and Senate Judiciary Committees requested and/or subpoenaed the above? If not, why not?

Sources who have been willing to talk and have offered to assist both the House Oversight and Government Reform and Senate Judiciary committees have relayed previously undisclosed insights into the gun-running operation: “One of the safest and most secure ways contacts and those with them would run the guns and other military-related equipment into Mexico was as if out of a movie plot.

Once they became friends with the informants and the suspected ‘dirty’ ATF agents, gaining their trust, it became easy for them to purchase, run and deliver large loads of weapons.

Several of the contacts, along with the informants and an ATF agent or two, would drive toward the Arizona-Mexico border in Nogales, following each other in their own vehicles. They would go to specific locations at the border fence at which large holes were cut. They didn’t use simple plyers or a hacksaw; no, they had a much more sophisticated tool. They utilized plasma cutters.

At precise locations, they would cut holes in the border fence with plasma cutters, enabling them to run weapons through quickly. An even more telling aspect was some with another U.S. government agency were integrally involved in this weapons-running operation: The U.S. Border Patrol.

Some agents in U.S. Border Patrol, in their vehicles, would routinely take tactical positions up on a small hill overlooking the gun-running operation across the border. These Border Patrol agents would provide surveillance and be ready to alert the ATF agents and others, should the need arise. These agents were routinely the ‘eyes’ for this aspect of the Fast and Furious operation, providing combat overwatch in effect.

A significant fact people, including the press, didn’t know was the contacts, agents and the informants would pass through the plasma cut hole in the border fence the weapons and military-related equipment to the cartel member(s) on the Mexican side of the border; the cartel member(s) would pass back through to the U.S side cash and drugs. This cash and drugs – marijuana and cocaine mostly - would be specifically used to purchase even more weapons.

Another way weapons were run across the border was in tool boxes. They would break down the guns and mix the gun parts up in the many draws or compartments in a large, red tool box.

They had many of the gun parts hidden in plain sight. Other parts, such as the stocks, they had hidden in the back area of the tool box. To get access there, one would have to pull out all the draws. They had the magazines and the clips under the draws, utilizing a space between the bottom of the draw and the sheet metal that was the shelf between each draw.

An additional way weapons were secreted across the border was where one contact would sneak over into Mexico, near Nogales or Lukeville, AZ, and the other would stay on the American side of the border.

They used cheap, two-way radios they bought at Walmart to communicate. When they were right across from each other at the border, the contacts on the U.S. side would through a rope over, and then they would proceed to tie a box full of the gear and weapons to the rope. The other contacts in Mexico would pull it over into Mexico.

The contacts stated they needed to do this rather quickly due to sensors that would alert the U.S. authorities. Border Patrol would never get there in time. The contacts would be long gone and the weapons were delivered to the designated cartel member(s) or gang(s).”

Considering the above, one must inquire as to why haven’t investigations to date regarding Fast and Furious focused on the very group of people agencies in the Executive Branch leveraged and/or exploited to affect the weapons-running associated with the operation? Sitting down with a former Member of the House of Representatives in the early afternoon of late November 2014, this former Member informed me, “House leadership was squashing the investigation into Fast and Furious.”

Again, one must inquire as to why? It is somewhat reassuring, however, to hear from sources that the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General (DOJ OIG) in the southwest has, perhaps, very recently started the process to reopen the investigation into Fast and Furious.

Having myself suffered a physical attack on the night of March 22, 2015 during which the attacker cautioned me, “Obviously, you aren’t getting the message. Keep your [expletive deleted] mouth shut,” it is understandable why some – perhaps many – have chosen to remain silent out of fear for their careers, their pensions, themselves and/or their families.

The next morning this attack was officially reported to the local police and then to the FBI. This event, contrary to the intended result, perhaps, redoubled my desire and efforts to do all I could to ensure truth, accountability and justice were realized – including potential Department of Defense and defense contractor(s) nexus.

After privately meeting with Kent Terry and his sister, Michelle Terry-Balogh, following his primary victory in Michigan, President-elect Donald Trump, who was surprisingly well versed on Brian Terry, promised to take decisive action, assuring the Terry family answers and closure. In all of this there are more questions than answers; more people willing to “Let ‘em through” than to thoroughly investigate and more hollow words than meaningful action.

Witnesses exist, President-elect Trump, who are willing to share their information with government authorities, but currently it seems there’s no one there to listen.

Hopefully, on January 20, 2017 you will become that decisive action the nation and the long-suffering Terry family have so patiently waited for.

ESEARCHERS REQUEST COURT UNSEAL SURVEILLANCE REQUESTS
STANFORD RESEARCHERS REQUEST COURT UNSEAL SURVEILLANCE REQUESTS
November 21, 2016
Two researchers affiliated with Stanford University have asked the federal district court for the Northern District of California to unseal multiple requests made by law enforcement authorities for technical assistance from private parties in association with electronic monitoring and surveillance activities.  The researchers are attempting to analyze the scope of law enforcement reliance on technical assistance from private parties for electronic surveillance.  Their ultimate goal is reportedly to provide the public with greater visibility into the extent to which technology companies and other private organizations are compelled by law enforcement authorities to facilitate and to conduct electronic eavesdropping activities.

The researchers note that a substantial number of court cases now involve some form of electronic surveillance, monitoring or content access.  They contend that, in many of those cases, law enforcement authorities request assistance from private parties or compel those private companies to facilitate, enable or conduct the necessary electronic activities.  The researchers note, however, that there seems to be little publicly accessible information regarding the scope of those activities or the interaction between the government authorities and the private parties involved, as many of those requests are made under seal and thus shielded from public disclosure.

The researchers identified approximately 70 federal cases they claim are appropriate for unsealing of the technical assistance requests.  Those

This is What The Resistance Looks Like — Cities, States and Nations Run on 100 Percent Renewable Power
The sparks of resistance to a harmful domination of energy supplies by the fossil fuel industry are out there. They are the lights of clean power generation blooming like stars across a world blackened by smokestack emissions and imperiled by climate change.

****

In the U.S., backward-looking republicans like Donald Trump, Paul Ryan, James Inhofe and Mitch McConnell appear to be gearing up to fight against both a necessary and helpful science that provides us with a life-saving awareness of the threats posed by human caused climate change and a highly beneficial renewable energy renaissance that has now gone global. Trump’s presidential cabinet is filled to the brim with climate change deniers and fossil fuel pushers. Pledges to de-fund climate science, implied threats to fire employees at the Department of Energy who worked on climate and renewable energy related issues, and belligerent boasting about dismantling much-needed policies like the Clean Power Plan, EPA fuel efficiency standards, and the Paris Climate Summit abound.

It’s the great loud, sad, and ignorance-filled reaction against a better future. A political and legislative backlash funded by oil, gas, and coal company campaign donations, advertising dollars, and indirect media investments. One that seeks to remove the possibility for a time when energy does not pollute the air or water — resulting in 7 million premature deaths each year globally. For one when

Federal intelligence agencies sued over Russian Interference in U.S.

A quick response to the FOIA requests is not expected.
Two transparency gadflies are suing in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. four federal intelligence agencies to disclose all evidence related to alleged interference by the Russian government in the 2016 presidential election.
Separately, the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) has filed a separate FOIA request on the same topic.
Invoking the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Vice investigative journalist Jason Leopold and Massachusetts Institute of Technology academic Ryan Shapiro in their lawsuit are seeking judicial relief to force the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to release publicly all records that informed the highest levels of the U.S. government that there had been tampering with the electoral process. The defendants include the FBI, CIA and the Department of Justice.
“The American public absolutely deserves to know what role Russian interference played in President-elect Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton, and how U.S. intelligence agencies responded to any such Russian interference,” Shapiro said in a statement. “

South Carolina Legislators Introduce Three Bills Targeting Police Stingray Use
from the some-fullwits-hidden-among-the-halfwits dept
It's really, really difficult to give the South Carolina legislature any credit whatsoever. In the past few years, it has offered up bills that:
- required journalists to register with the government before enjoy their First Amendment rights (to make a point about the Second Amendment)
- criminalized profanity in public forums (including the internet)
- criminalized the recording of criminal acts
- required computer sellers to install default porn blockers in devices (that could be removed for $20)
The track record of this state's legislature is less than stellar. Hell, it's less than passable. 1/5 would not re-elect.
But there are still a few legislators with good ideas trying to do good things within the confines of a state where adultery is still considered a criminal act. The Tenth Amendment Center briefly highlights three new bills targeting law enforcement Stingray device use, all with their own merits.
The first, brought by state rep J. Todd Rutherford, is the most extreme of the three.
The legislation would prohibit any state or local law enforcement agency in South Carolina from purchasing cell site simulators, commonly known as “stingrays.”
At this point, use of these devices by South Carolina law enforcement is unconfirmed. If, indeed, no agencies are in possession of IMSI catchers, this bill would maintain the status quo. If agencies are already in possession of the devices, the bill would require these agencies

American History  > The Assassination of JFK  >
JFK Theory: FBI/Secret Service

After the death of John F. Kennedy, his deputy, Lyndon B. Johnson, was appointed president. He immediately set up a commission to "ascertain, evaluate and report upon the facts relating to the assassination of the late President John F. Kennedy." The seven man commission was headed by Chief Justice Earl Warren and included Gerald Ford, Allen W. Dulles, John J. McCloy, Richard B. Russell, John S. Cooper and Thomas H. Boggs.

Lyndon B. Johnson also commissioned a report on the assassination from J. Edgar Hoover. Two weeks later the Federal Bureau of Investigation produced a 500 page report claiming that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole assassin and that there was no evidence of a conspiracy. The report was then passed to the Warren Commission. Rather than conduct its own independent investigation, the commission relied almost entirely on the FBI report.

Mark North (Act of Treason) and George O'Toole (The Assassination Tapes) both believe that J. Edgar Hoover either knew of plans to kill Kennedy and did nothing to stop them, or he helped to organize the assassination. In his book, Deep Politics and the Death of JFK (1993) Peter Dale Scottprovides information that Hoover and the Federal Bureau of Investigation helped to cover-up the real identity of the people who assassinated John F. Kennedy.

In his book, Best Evidence, David Lifton claims that members of the Secret Service agents were involved in the killing of Kennedy. This included providing the assassins with a good opportunity to kill Kennedy. Lifton was highly critical of the behaviour of William Greer, Roy Kellerman and Winston G. Lawson during the assassination. Lifton believes that after the assassination of Kennedy they hijacked the body in order to alter the corpse. In the book, Mortal Error, Bonar Menninger, claims that SS agent George Hickey killed Kennedy by accident.

James H. Fetzer believes the Secret Service played a role in the assassination. In his book, Assassination Science, he writes: "I have discovered at least fifteen indications of Secret Service complicity in the assassination of John F. Kennedy, from the absence of protective military presence to a lack of coverage of open windows, to motorcycles out of position, to Secret Service agents failing to ride on the Presidential limousine, to the vehicles arranged in an improper sequence, to the utilization of an improper motorcade route, to the driver bringing the vehicle to a halt after bullets began to be fired, to the almost total lack of response by Secret Service agents, to the driver washing out the back seat with a bucket and sponge at Parkland Hospital, to the car being dismantled and rebuilt (on LBJ's orders), to the driver giving false testimony to the Warren Commission, to the windshields being switched, to the autopsy photographs being taken into custody before they were developed".

Clint Hill, Roy Kellerman, and William Greer after
giving evidence to the Warren Commission (March, 1964)
(P1) William Manchester, The Death of a President (1967)

There was a sudden, sharp, shattering sound. Various individuals heard it differently. Jacqueline Kennedy believed it was a motorcycle noise. Curry was under the impression that someone had fired a railroad torpedo. Ronald Fischer and Bob Edwards, assuming that it was a backfire, chuckled. Most of the hunters in the motorcade - Sorrels, Connally, Yarborough, Gonzalez, Albert Thomas - instinctively identified it as rifle fire.

But the White House Detail was confused. Their experience in outdoor shooting was limited to two qualification courses a year on a range in Washington's National Arboretum. There they heard only their own weapons, and they were unaccustomed to the bizarre effects that are created when small-arms fire echoes among unfamiliar structures - in this case, the buildings of Dealey Plaza. Emory Roberts recognized Oswald's first shot as a shot. So did Youngblood, whose alert response may have saved Lyndon Johnson's life. They were exceptions. The men in Halfback were bewildered. They glanced around uncertainly. Lawson, Kellerman, Greer, Ready, and Hill all thought that a firecracker had been exploded. The fact that this was a common reaction is no mitigation. It was the responsibility of James J. Rowley, Chief of the Secret Service, and Jerry Behn, Head of the White House Detail, to see that their agents were trained to cope with precisely this sort of emergency. They were supposed to be picked men, honed to a matchless edge. It was comprehensible that Roy Truly should dismiss the first shot as a cherry bomb. It was even fathomable that Patrolman James M. Chaney, mounted on a motorcycle six feet from the Lincoln, should think that another machine had backfired. Chaney was an ordinary policeman, not a Presidential bodyguard. The protection of the Chief Executive, on the other hand, was the profession of Secret Service agents. They existed for no other reason. Apart from Clint Hill - and perhaps Jack Ready, who started to step off the right running board and was ordered back by Roberts - the behaviour of the men in the follow-up car was unresponsive. Even more tragic was the perplexity of Roy Kellerman, the ranking agent in Dallas, and Bill Greer, who was under Kellerman's supervision. Kellerman and Greer were in a position to take swift evasive action, and for five terrible seconds they were immobilized.

Why was William Manchester critical of the way the Secret Service responded to the shooting at the motorcade in the Dealey Plaza?

Assassination of John F. Kennedy Encyclopedia

(P2) William Greer interviewed by Arlen Specter on behalf of the Warren Commission (9th March, 1964)

Arlen Specter: Now, how many shots, or how many noises have you just described that you heard?

William Greer: I know there was three that I heard - three. But I cannot remember any more than probably three. I know there was three anyway that I heard.

Arlen Specter: Do you have an independent recollection at this moment of having heard three shots at that time?

William Greer: I knew that after I heard the second one, that is when I looked over my shoulder, and I was conscious that there was something wrong, because that is when I saw Governor Connally. And when I turned around again, to the best of my recollection there was another one, right immediately after.

Arlen Specter: To the best of your ability to recollect and estimate, how much time elapsed from the first noise which you have described as being similar to the backfire of a motor vehicle until you heard the second noise?

William Greer: It seems a matter of seconds, I really couldn't say. Three or four seconds.

Arlen Specter: How much time elapsed, to the best of your ability to estimate and recollect, between the time of the second noise and the time of the third noise?

William Greer: The last two seemed to be just simultaneously, one behind the other, but I don't recollect just how much, how many seconds were between the two. I couldn't really say.

Arlen Specter: Describe as best you can the types of sound of the second report, as distinguished from the first noise which you said was similar to a motorcycle backfire?

William Greer: The second one didn't sound any different much than the first one but I kind of got, by turning around, I don't know whether I got a little concussion of it, maybe when it hit something or not, I may have gotten a little concussion that made me think there was something different to it. But so far as the noise is concerned, I haven't got any memory of any difference in them at all...

Arlen Specter: Did you step on the accelerator before, simultaneously or after Mr. Kellerman instructed you to accelerate?

William Greer: It was about simultaneously.

According to William Greer, how did he react when he first heard the shots being fired at President John F. Kennedy?

(P3) Roy Kellerman interviewed by Arlen Specter, John S. Cooper and Gerald Ford on behalf of the Warren Commission (9th March, 1964)

Arlen Specter: When was it that Mrs. Kennedy made the statement which you have described, "My God, what are they doing?"

Roy Kellerman: This occurred after the flurry of shots.

Arlen Specter: At that time you looked back and saw Special Agent Hill across the trunk of the car, had your automobile accelerated by that time?

Roy Kellerman: Tremendously so; yes.

Does Roy Kellerman agree with the testimony of William Greer?

(P4) Michael L. Kurtz, Crime of the Century: The Kennedy Assassination From a Historians Perspective (1982)

The Zapruder and other films and photographs of the assassination clearly reveal the utter lack of response by Secret Service agents Roy Kellerman and William Greer, who were in the front seat of the presidential limousine. After the first two shots, Greer actually slowed the vehicle to less than five miles an hour. Kellerman merely sat in the front seat, seemingly oblivious to the shooting. In contrast, Secret Service Agent Rufus Youngblood responded instantly to the first shot, and before the head shots were fired, had covered Vice-President Lyndon Johnson with his body.

Trained to react instantaneously, as in the attempted assassinations of President Gerald Ford by Lynette Fromme and Sara Jane Moore and of President Ronald Reagan by John Warnock Hinckley, the Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Kennedy simply neglected their duty. The reason for their neglect remains one of the more intriguing mysteries of the assassination.

Does Michael L. Kurtz agree with the accounts of William Greer (P2) and Roy Kellerman (P3)?

(P5) Joachim Joesten, How Kennedy Was Killed (1968)

One of the most eminent authorities on the subject, former Secret Service chief U.E. Baughman, who headed that agency from 1948 to 1961, has publicly taken issue, in several newspaper interviews, with the lack of adequate precautions which is so painfully apparent in the Dallas tragedy.

A UPI dispatch from Washington, dated December 8, 1963 quoted Mr. Baughman as saying that "there are a lot of things' to be explained" concerning the assassination.

One thing Baughman wanted to know - nobody has explained it yet - is why Lee H. Oswald was permitted to leave

the Book Depository after the shooting.

He asked, also, assuming that the shots did come from the sixth-floor window of that building, why the Secret Service didn't immediately pepper that -window with machine gun fire?

This is one of the most obvious - and least asked - of all "unanswered questions" about the Kennedy murder. Why, indeed, was all the shooting done only by one side - that of the assassins?

There were dozens of Secret Service men on the scene, all former FBI agents and tested marksmen, quick on the trigger and with their service guns and submachine guns at the ready - to say nothing of the hundreds of Dallas policemen who were also present when the President died in a hail of bullets. And not a single shot was fired by any of these alert guardians of the law!

Had the Secret Service men reacted as Baugham says they should have, by instantly 'peppering' the TSBD window with machine gun fire, the sniper crouching behind that window would certainly not have been able to get off a second or third shot, as the Commission says he did.

In a subsequent interview with Seth Kantor of the Scripps-Howard newspaper chain, Mr. Baughman declared that it was a "basic, established rule" of the Secret Service to see to it that people were kept out of the upper stories of buildings along a presidential parade route. The manager of the Texas School Book Depository therefore "should have been under firm instructions by the police" to close the upper floors of that building to unauthorized persons...

The Secret Service couldn't spare a man either for checking the grassy knoll, a textbook location for a guerilla-type ambush. This breathtaking deficiency came to light when there were reports that a man who identified himself as a member of the Secret Service was encountered near the knoll just after the assassination. These reports drew a firm denial from the Secret Service which stated explicitly that it had no man posted there. It would have been better for the Secret Service to have said that the knoll had been swarming with agents who didn't notice a damn thing than thus to admit another such glaring dereliction of duty.

According to former Secret Service chief U.E. Baughman, what mistakes were made during the visit to Dallas?

(P6) Evidence of four police officers protecting the motorcade about what the presidential car did when the shots were fired in the Dealey Plaza.

James Chaney (motorcyclist on motorcade): "From the time the first shot ran out, the car stopped completely, pulled to the left and stopped."

Bobby Hargis (motorcyclist on motorcade): "The car stopped immediately after that and stayed stopped for about half a second, then took off."

Earle Brown (police officer on overpass): "When the shots were fired, it (the car) stopped."

J. W. Foster (police officer on overpass): "Immediately after Kennedy was struck... the car pulled to the curb."

Do these accounts support the testimony of William Greer and Roy Kellerman?

(P7) The Warren Commission Report (September, 1964)

The Commission has concluded that some of the advance preparations in Dallas made by the Secret Service, such as the detailed security measures taken at Love Field and the Trade Mart, were thorough and well executed. In other respects, however, the Commission has concluded that the advance preparations for the President's trip were deficient.

Although the Secret Service is compelled to rely to a great extent on local law enforcement officials, its procedures at the time of the Dallas trip did not call for well-defined instructions as to the respective responsibilities of the police officials and others assisting in the protection of the President.

The procedures relied upon by the Secret Service for detecting the presence of an assassin located in a building along a motorcade route were inadequate. At the time of the trip to Dallas, the Secret Service as a matter of practice did not investigate, or cause to be checked, any building located along the motorcade route to be taken by the President. The responsibility for observing windows in these buildings during the motorcade was divided between local police personnel stationed on the streets to regulate crowds and Secret Service agents riding in the motorcade. Based on its investigation the Commission has concluded that these arrangements during the trip to Dallas were clearly not sufficient.

The configuration of the Presidential car and the seating arrangements of the Secret Service agents in the car did not afford the Secret Service agents the opportunity they should have had to be of immediate assistance to the President at the first sign of danger.

Within these limitations, however, the Commission finds that the agents most immediately responsible for the President's safety reacted promptly at the time the shots were fired from the Texas School Book Depository Building.

What criticisms did the Warren Commission make of the Secret Service on 22nd November, 1963?

(P8) House Select Committee on Assassinations (1979)

Findings of the Select Committee on Assassinations in the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, November 22, 1963.

The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that President John F. Kennedy was probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy. The committee is unable to identify the other gunman or the extent of the conspiracy....

Agencies and departments of the U.S. Government performed with varying degrees of competency in the fulfillment of their duties. President John F. Kennedy did not receive adequate protection. A thorough and reliable investigation into the responsibility of Lee Harvey Oswald for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy was conducted. The investigation into the possibility of conspiracy in the assassination was inadequate. The conclusions of the investigations were arrived at in good faith, but presented in a fashion that was too definitive.

The Secret Service was deficient in the performance of its duties.

The Secret Service possessed information that was not properly analyzed, investigated or used by the Secret Service in connection with the President's trip to Dallas; in addition, Secret Service agents in the motorcade were inadequately prepared to protect the President from a sniper.

In what ways was the House Select Committee on Assassinations critical of the Secret Service?

(P9) James H. Fetzer, Assassination Science and the Language of Proof, included in Assassination Science (1998)

I have discovered at least fifteen indications of Secret Service complicity in the assassination of John F. Kennedy, from the absence of protective military presence to a lack of coverage of open windows, to motorcycles out of position, to Secret Service agents failing to ride on the Presidential limousine, to the vehicles arranged in an improper sequence, to the utilization of an improper motorcade route, to the driver bringing the vehicle to a halt after bullets began to be fired, to the almost total lack of response by Secret Service agents, to the driver washing out the back seat with a bucket and sponge at Parkland Hospital, to the car being dismantled and rebuilt (on LBJs orders), to the driver giving false testimony to the Warren Commission, to the windshields being switched, to the autopsy photographs being taken into custody before they were developed, and more.

What evidence does James H. Fetzer provide to support his view that the Secret Service might have been involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy?

(P10) Edward Jay Epstein, Legend: The Secret World of Lee Harvey Oswald (1978)

The possibility that Oswald was encouraged or assisted in the act by some unknown party can certainly not be excluded. But there is one piece of evidence which strongly argues against the possibility that Oswald was part of an intelligent and purposeful conspiracy - the note which Oswald purportedly wrote to the FBI a week or so before Kennedy arrived in Dallas.

In this note, Oswald threatened to blow up the local FBI headquarters in Dallas unless FBI agents stopped harassing his wife. The note itself was never divulged to the Warren Commission. Instead, after Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby, the local FBI agent, undoubtedly on orders from his superiors destroyed the note. Its existence was only admitted by FBI officials in 1975 when FBI employees in Dallas, who had seen the note, revealed its contents. They testified, moreover, that Oswald had delivered the note to the FBI office.

If there was a conspiracy, it is difficult to understand why it should risk revealing itself to the FBI by having Oswald, their; main actor, walk into the FBI office with a threatening note. He might have been arrested on the spot, or at the very least, the FBI could have been expected to warn the President security force that Oswald, who was employed on the President's route, had made a violent threat to federal officials. Even if the conspirators only meant to frame Oswald, the delivery of the note would jeopardize that plan since it risked having Oswald arrested prior to the President's arrival. It therefore seems reasonable to assume that, if the note is authentic, Oswald was not part of a conspiracy.

Why does Edward Jay Epstein believe that Lee Harvey Oswald was not a FBI agent?

(P11) Peter Dale Scott, Deep Politics and the Death of JFK (1993)

The House Committee on Assassinations confirmed that the Hosty entry had been deleted in the retyping of the memo. It called the incident "regrettable," but "trivial", even though what was at stake was an apparently false statement by FBI officials under oath....

The FBI's handling of Hall, and of the whole Odio story, suggests they had something to hide. To begin with, the agents they sent to interview Silvia Odio, and who asked no questions about the "double agent" story, were James P. Hosty, Jr., and his partner, Bardwell D. Odum. Hosty also interviewed Juan B. Martin, the man Odio had been interested in buying arms from; yet his write-up of this interview is utterly trivial and makes no reference to gunrunning at all.

James Hosty was hardly the right agent to send for an impartial investigation. As the FBI agent assigned to handle both arms trafficking and the Oswalds before the assassination, Hosty quickly became a party to some of the FBI's most serious cover-up activities. On November 24, 1963, long before he finally interviewed Silvia Odio in December, Hosty had already destroyed a threatening note which Oswald had left for him at the Dallas FBI office. He had done so on orders from his boss, Gordon Shanklin, which almost certainly came from Washington.

Why does Peter Dale Scott believe it was significant that the FBI employed James Hosty to interview Silvia Odio and Juan B. Martin?

(P12) Jim Garrison, On the Trail of the Assassins (1988)

According to Dallas Police Lieutenant Jack Revill, an F.B.I, agent came up to him at Dallas police headquarters at 2:50 P.M. and said that the Bureau had "information that this suspect was capable of committing the assassination." The agent who brought this welcome news and was the first to mention the name of Lee Harvey Oswald was none other than James Hosty.

Was Hosty merely an innocent messenger, or had he and possibly others in the Bureau been involved in a plot to set up Oswald as the patsy? If F.B.I, employees had been part of the conspiracy, then that might explain why the Bureau had mysteriously failed to act on the warning sent over its telex system five days before the assassination and why no one responded to the letter of warning that Richard Case Nagell claimed to have sent to J. Edgar Hoover. It also might explain why Oswald, who evidently did not get along with Hosty and may have sensed that he was being set up, had sent a telegram to the secretary of the Navy ten days before the assassination.

I began to formulate a possible scenario. Long in advance, the engineers of the assassination had selected the idealistic and gullible Oswald as a patsy. His close-mouthed intelligence background helped assure not only success in the venture but subsequent support from the government, which would not want to admit that the assassination originated in its own intelligence community.

If Oswald was on the government payroll as a confidential informant in Dallas and New Orleans, he might well have believed that his job was to penetrate subversive organizations, including Fair Play for Cuba and perhaps Guy Banister's apparatus, in order to report back to the F.B.I, about them. Along the way, he was allowed to penetrate a marginal part of the assassination project, again with the idea that he was engaged in an officially sponsored effort to obtain information about it. He may even have filed reports on the plot to kill the President with his contact agent, James Hosty. When Oswald sensed that Hosty was not responsive, he may have gone over his head and telegraphed some kind of warning to the secretary of the Navy, who in turn may have informed the F.B.I.'s Washington headquarters, which then sent out its warning telex.

What did Jim Garrison believe James Hosty's role was in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy?

(P13) Peter Dale Scott, Deep Politics and the Death of JFK (1993)

Such an explanation is less plausible for the FBI's interference with leads that appeared to be guiding its agents to the actual assassins of the President - a case, seemingly, of obstruction of justice, or worse. How else should one assess the response of FBI headquarters to a report from Miami that Joseph Adams Milteer, a white racist with Klan connections, had in early November 1963 correctly warned that a plot to kill the President "from an office building with a high-powered rifle" was already "in the working"? These words are taken from a tape-recording of a discussion between Milteer and his friend, Miami police informant Bill Somersett. Miami police provided copies of this tape to both the Secret Service and the FBI on November 10, 1963, two weeks before the assassination, and this led to the cancellation of a planned motorcade for the President in Miami on November 18.20

Although an extremist, Milteer was no loner. Southern racists were well organized in 1963, in response to federal orders for desegregation; and Milteer was an organizer for two racist parties, the National States Rights party and the Constitution party. In addition he had attended an April 1963 meeting in New Orleans of the Congress of Freedom, Inc.,

which had been monitored by an informant for the Miami police. A Miami detective's report of the Congress included the statement that "there was indicated the overthrow of the present government of the United States," including "the setting up of a criminal activity to assassinate particular persons." The report added that "membership within the Congress of Freedom, Inc., contain high ranking members of the armed forces that secretly belong to the organization."

In other words, the deep politics of racist intrigue had become intermingled, in the Congress as elsewhere, with the resentment within the armed forces against their civilian commander. Perhaps the most important example in 1963 was that of General Edwin Walker, whom Oswald was accused of stalking and shooting at. Forced to retire in 1962 for disseminating right-wing propaganda in the armed forces, Walker was subsequently arrested at the "Ole Miss" anti-desegregation riots. Nor was the FBI itself exempt from racist intrigue: Milteer, on tape, reported detailed plans for the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr., whom Hoover's FBI, by the end of 1963, had also targeted for (in their words) "neutralizing... as an effective Negro leader."

Four days after the assassination Somerset! reported that Milteer had been "jubilant" about it: "Everything ran true to form. I guess you thought I was kidding you when I said he would be killed from a window with a high-powered rifle." Milteer also was adamant that he had not been "guessing" in his original prediction. In both of the relevant FBI reports from Miami, Somersett was described as "a source who had furnished reliable information in the past."

Why was Peter Dale Scott critical of FBI's behaviour in the weeks leading up to the assassination of John F. Kennedy?

(P14) Matthew Smith, JFK: The Second Plot (1992)

One of the outstanding examples of a witness being frustrated in his attempt to speak out when he had something important to say is to be found in the story of Abraham Bolden. Abraham Bolden was a member of the White House detail of the Secret Service, and was the first negro to be appointed to that body. Bolden had heard of a Chicago plot to kill the President and was anxious to tell what he knew. He was also critical of the personnel appointed to guard the President, claiming they were lax in their duties. It was believed that an attempt on Kennedy's life had been foiled on 1st November in Chicago, but three weeks before he was killed in Dallas, and it would have been extremely embarrassing to the Warren Commission, heavily involved in establishing their "lone killer - no conspiracy" theory, to have had Bolden telling of a Chicago plot. Bolden's superior officers blocked his request. A few months later Abraham Bolden was charged with soliciting a huge bribe for disclosing secret information on a counterfeiter, Joseph Spagnoli, and he was jailed for six years. Spagnoli later confessed he had lied about Bolden, at the request of Prosecutor Richard Sikes, he claimed. In spite of this Bolden was made to serve his full sentence.

What is the significance of the story of Abraham Bolden in the search to discover who was responsible for the assassination of John F. Kennedy?

New Research Shows Global Warming Could Turn Tropics Into a Sweltering Dead Zone

New research out of Purdue University finds that a global warming event called the PETM made parts of the tropics too hot for living organisms to survive. And though the PETM happened many millions of years ago, these new scientific revelations are pertinent to the present day. The reason is that human activity in the form of fossil fuel burning is now rapidly causing the globe to heat up. And such warming, if it continues, could well turn large sections of the tropics into a dead zone.

PETM — Warm-up Sparks Global Upheaval, Extinction

The PETM was a big global warm up that happened 56 million years ago as the Paleocene epoch passed into the Eocene. It is numbered as one of many hothouse extinctions occurring in the geological record. And it is generally thought to have been one of the milder such events — especially when compared to the biosphere wrecking ball that was the Permian.

(NASA tool shows that business as usual greenhouse gas emissions would force average maximum July temperatures over large sections of the world to warm to 40 to 45 C [104 to 113 F] by the 2090s. For many regions, such a high degree of heat is incompatible with crops and human habitability. In the deep past, hothouse events were found, in recent research, to render large sections of the tropics uninhabitable to most forms of life. Image source: NASA.)

During the PETM, global temperatures jumped by 5 degrees Celsius above an already warm base line over the course of about 6,000 years. And research indicates that the resulting heat stress set off massive wildfires, forced land animal species to move pole-ward, and killed off a big chunk of the ocean’s bottom dwelling foraminifera.

Parts of the Tropical Biosphere Seem to Have Died

However, past scientific consensus held that the tropics still managed to support life during the PETM due to a kind of thermostat-like heat regulation preventing the equatorial region from becoming too warm. Temperatures were thought to have remained within a range that would have continued to support life in this lower latitude zone. So it was only thought that the tropics experienced die-offs during ancient and more intense warming events like the Permain of 250 million years ago.

The new research by Purdue scientists calls that theory into question. Their findings show that temperatures crossed a key threshold — becoming too hot to support life throughout sections of the tropics and rendering large areas uninhabitable.

Matthew Huber, professor in the Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences Department at Purdue University and study co-author notes:

“The records produced in this study indicate that when the tropics warmed that last little bit, a threshold was passed and parts of the tropical biosphere seems to have died. This is the first time that we’ve found really good information, in a very detailed way, where we saw major changes in the tropics directly associated with warming past a key threshold in the past 60 million years.”

Half of Human Population Lives and Farms in the Tropics

During the present day, about half the human population, a good chunk of the world’s life forms, and a considerable amount of global farming occupies the tropics. However, according to recent research by the Max Plank Institute, parts of the tropical zone could be rendered basically uninhabitable to human beings by mid Century as the Earth heats up due to fossil fuel burning. And already, the critical region of Equatorial Africa and the adjacent Middle East are experiencing record droughts, water stress, and instances of hunger, famine and related food insecurity as global temperatures rise to 1 C or more above 1880s averages.

(Climate zone habitability is a function of what forms of life can exist in a given region at a given range of temperatures. Warming in the tropics is expected to impact human habitability by mid Century. Warming, however, is also expected to impact crop yields well into the middle latitudes. U.S. food production is therefore likely to be negatively impacted by rising global temperatures. Video source: Peter Carter.)

The serious concern is that as the world warms up — a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented scope could emerge as whole countries become unable to support their populations. As entire regions become too hot to live in. And as major swaths of global farmland become non-productive.

The present narrative hints that human civilization can somehow adapt by shifting farm zones northward. However, it’s worth noting that boreal regions do not support the same highly productive soils as the tropical and temperate zones that are now under threat due to rising temperatures. In addition, the nations of the world have thus far shown considerable reluctance to accepting refugee populations from destabilized zones. And as the world heats up, desperation will only increase as waves of refugees seek to remove themselves from what could well become a kind of global warming produced dead zone.

The Perdue research underscores a very real risk that we are now facing. It shows that the tropics did not self regulate temperature in a range conducive for life during the PETM. And these findings reinforce present temperature and soil moisture research trends placing human habitability and crop production under threat due to fossil fuel based warming this Century.

Windstorm knocks out power to 1 million customers in Michigan

(Reuters) - More than 1 million Michigan electric customers, including homes, schools and hospitals, were without power on Thursday after a windstorm caused the biggest outage in state history, utility companies said.

Wind gusts of more than 60 miles per hour (97 km per hour) on Wednesday toppled trees and downed more than 4,000 power lines across the state, which has a population of about 10 million people, Detroit-based DTE Energy Co said.

"This is a very unusual event ... the most significant weather event that we've had in DTE Energy's 100-year history," DTE Electric President and Chief Operating Officer Trevor Lauer said at a news conference                 trees and brought down power lines and poles overnight at an unprecedented rate, DTE said earlier in a statement.

Gerard Benderoth, 48, committed suicide on a quiet suburban road in Rockland County around 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Benderoth, nicknamed “White Rhino” from his days as a strongman competitor, was about to be arrested on a seal indictment in connection with a murder and drug conspiracy case.

“If this guy put a bullet in his head rather than go and talk to them, he must have been in deep,” a law enforcement source noted to The Post.

Trump Proposes Cuts to TSA, Secret Service, FEMA to Pay for Border Wall

Donald Trump, via Wikipedia

Donald Trump wants to free up money for his border wall by mulling cuts to the Coast Guard, TSA, Secret Service and FEMA.

The budget reductions would cut deeply into notable national security and emergency response initiatives, ABC News reports.
