RATs of hell
November 16, 2015 Uncategorized “cyber fires”, “dolphin speak”, attack vectors, Citizens for Social Grace, critical infrastructure, cyber-soldiers, DARPA’s Plan X, defenestration, exercises, Flame, Hegelian games, Law of War manual, lethal cyber weapons, malicious code, malware, Operation Olympic Games, Stuxnet

The RATs of hell

the remote anonymous triggering of destruction

Within recent weeks, we have seen a resugence of articles from within the halls of US military, information technology and intelligence agencies and their various PR firms and contractor agencies about the development of and need to use “lethal cyber weapons” or, in other words, computer code that is capable of causing an “enemy’s” critical infrastructure to self-destruct.

This establishes the same kinds of arms races (and arguments about them) about numerous other forms of weaponry, mass destruction, etc., including nuclear weapons, biological and chemical weapons, information warfare, etc.

It is ripe for Hegelian games: we discovered they are working on it, so we must begin to do so ourselves so we can understand how the weaponry works at a technical level and so we can defend ourselves, and force the imposition of controls. Such games soon lead, particularly wirth the application of gaming theory and other advanced pathological hegemonic madness, to:

a “first strike” mentality;

a “let’s do a trial run on some hapless corner of the world” to make sure it works” event;

the development of covert labs and production facilities”;

an “accident”;

and more.

Two years ago, World Affairs Journal noted the swing to the offensive with DARPA’s Plan X whose goal was “to create revolutionary technologies for understanding, planning, and managing cyberwarfare.”

Like their military counterparts, cybersecurity experts in the private sector have become increasingly frustrated by their inability to stop intruders from penetrating critical computer networks to steal valuable data or even sabotage network operations. The new idea is to pursue the perpetrators back into their own networks. “We’re following a failed security strategy in cyber,” says Steven Chabinsky, formerly the head of the FBI’s cyber intelligence section and now chief risk officer at CrowdStrike, a startup company that promotes aggressive action against its clients’ cyber adversaries. “There’s no way that we are going to win the cybersecurity effort on defense. We have to go on offense.”

Nearly half-a-billion dollars have been set aside for the first wave of funding. The buzz phrases include “cyber fires”, “cyberspace joint munitions”, and other similaly-hybrid terms of warfare.

“‘Cyber joint munitions effectiveness’ describes that a particular cyber capability has been evaluated and its effectiveness is known against a particular target,” she said. The target is a person, place or object a commander is eyeing to neutralize, according to the associated Joint Chiefs of Staff policy.

“Cyber fires” has a broader meaning and “can be used for offensive or defensive objectives, and can be designed to create effects in and through cyberspace,” she said.

“… Yes, I’ve become quite a student of your operations in this region.

Thirty-four mansions, I think it was, pillaged and burned…under Colonel Montgomery’s expedition of the Combahee….”

“First squad, second platoon.

Fall out to set torches.

Prepare to fire the town.”

The discussion surrounding the firing of cyber arms hearkens back to before the days of Manhattan Project, some former military leaders say.

“It reminds me of the run-up to the strategic bombing campaigns of World War II,” said Cedric Leighton, a retired National Security Agency and Air Force intelligence director. “Just like then, the consequences of an attack using cyber munitions will not be completely foreseeable.”

“… In the past, some military academics have voiced concerns about the unintended outcomes of such maneuvers. Malicious code released into networks could backfire and harm U.S. individuals or allies, they warned.

“Due to the ‘system of systems’ nature” of cyberspace, it is very difficult to know exactly what effect” defensive or offensive actions will have on U.S. and ally assets “since we can’t be sure exactly how far out the cyber action might spread,” Dee Andrews and Kamal Jabbour wrote in a 2011 article for Air Force Space Command’s Journal for Space & Missile Professionals. “The difficulty in doing a damage estimate before cyber action is taken makes cyber friendly fire difficult to identify and mitigate.”

There are dozens of bullet points on training support work in the contracting documents.

For example, the hired contractor will run exercises on “USCYBERCOM Fires processes” with the Joint Advanced Cyber Warfare Course, the Army Cyberspace Operations Course, the Air Force Weapons School, the Joint Targeting School and other outside groups, the documents state.

[Ed.: I’ll leave it to the reader to do their own research and riff on the recent history of exercises as “cover” for covert ops.]

Certain contract personnel supporting these so-called cyber fires will be subjected to additional background reviews and will have to comply with “need-to-know” classification rules, according to officials.

Beyond unleashing malware, the chosen contract employees will help repel attacks on Defense Department smartphones housing sensitive data, according to the government. This assignment involves analyzing forensics reports on hacked mobile devices and conducting security assessments of mobile apps, among other things…..”

21stcenturywire.com reminds us about “the Stuxnet super virus, one of the most pernicious and reckless military cyber operations to date.

According to US firm Symantec’s research, Stuxnet and its sister virus, Flame, was part of ‘Operation Olympic Games’, a joint venture between the United States and Israel designed to penetrate Iranian (and Russian too) civilian infrastructure networks – including civilian nuclear power facilities.

According to the Washington Post, “The brilliance of Stuxnet lay in [the attackers] being under the radar of the target entity,” Thakur said. Both variants of Stuxnet “tried to do damage in a manner that would seem random” to the targeted party.

Despite being caught red-handed, the US ‘defense’ industrial complex has simply upped its offensive operations and are now talking about how cyber warfare can be used to inflicted “collateral damage”…. Raytheon, Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin are some of the defense firms competing for an upcoming $460 million US Cyber Command project to give the American military the power to turn an enemy’s critical infrastructure against them with weaponized code, according to Defense One. A 114-page draft of a 5-year contract released on September 30 details a plan to get private companies to support military operations with cyberwarfare…. [T]his kind of offensive cyberwarfare isn’t esoteric stuff relegated to one strange corner of the US military. In fact, digital arms designed to kill are now explicitly sanctioned under the Pentagon’s newly-published Law of War manual, with an entire chapter devoted to cyber warfare.

Cyber strikes are allowed even if “it is certain that civilians would be killed or injured — so long as the reasonably anticipated collateral damage isn’t excessive in relation to what you expect to gain militarily,” said retired Major General Charles J. Dunlap, executive director of Duke University’s Center on Law, Ethics and National Security. “These are essentially the same rules as for attacks employing traditional bombs or bullets”…

Watch this well-done four-minute video on Stuxnet (Direction and Motion Graphics: Patrick Clair; Written by: Scott Mitchell):

[I’ve left autoplay on: note especially the one-hour talk by the Stuxnet “decoder” and the half-hour documentary on military training in cyber defense.]

According to an RT article on cyber-weapons safeguards:

“… A US Defense Department directive [pdf] signed last week sets the stage for safeguards that would limit any collateral damage from dangerous robotic instruments of war, ideally to “minimize the probability and consequences of failures” in drones and other autonomous or semi-autonomous weapons “that could lead to unintended engagements.”

The document, signed by Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, outlines rules stating that those weapons must “be designed to allow commanders and operators to exercise appropriate levels of human judgment over the use of force” by way of “rigorous hardware and software verification and validation.” When those weapons are attacking the cyber-grid, though, the Defense Department doesn’t necessarily seem to think the same precautions need to be put in place.

While the directive is written to explicitly set up safeguards for autonomous and semi-autonomous weapon systems, one subsection of the document acknowledges that it ‘Does not apply to autonomous or semi-autonomous cyberspace systems for cyberspace operations.’ ….”

See the 20-page pdf “Moral Cyber Weapons”:

Moral Cyber Weapons – Part-II-CH-6 – 24Oct2013 (3)

Here is an article on lethal autonomous-weapon systems and cyber-security that says:

“… It is the combination of weapons, ICS and remote control and monitoring technologies which introduces not just more determined threat actors, but also attack vectors via well-known wireless and satellite communication technologies, where a lot of security research has been done.

There have been several examples of attacks. The Iranian Military claimed to have used GPS jamming attacks to force a UAV into an autonomous mode and caused a denial of service, while some researchers, such as Samy Kamkar, have demonstrated command and control over UAVs via wireless protocols.

Researchers have even conducted attacks against tele-operated surgical robots over the Internet and over the last decade there have been many examples of Advanced Persistent Threats using malware such as ‘BlackEnergy’ to target ICS.

The main problem in this arena is the fact that there are zero international laws or treaties on cyber warfare. This is a serious issue given that the strongest cyber weapons, attacks on infrastructure, disproportionally target the weak. These attacks on infrastructure could take out power to hospitals, elderly homes and could render the digital communication, transportation and businesses useless, leaving innocent civilians as the victims. For more see The Tallinn Manual. Improving the accuracy of current systems. This is where computing in warfare has gone the furthest. Drones, Tomahawk missiles and laser guidance systems have allowed for a more humane asymmetrical war. The flip side is that this gives the countries who can afford it an excuse to go to war for less egregious reasons.

More here: http://slideplayer.com/slide/4381887/

According to Stefano’s definition: a cyber weapon is:

A device or any set of computer instructions intended to unlawfully damage a system acting as a critical infrastructure, its information, the data or programs therein contained or thereto relevant, or even intended to facilitate the interruption, total or partial, or alteration of its operation.

On logic bombs, trojan horses and trap doors:

“… ‘Unlike traditional espionage malware or even the Stuxnet virus that sabotaged Iranian nuclear centrifuges, cyber fires would impact human life, according to former Defense officials and a recently released Defense Department ‘Law of War Manual’ … The manual lays out three sample actions the Pentagon deems uses of force in cyberspace: ‘trigger a nuclear plant meltdown; open a dam above a populated area, causing destruction * ; or disable air traffic control services , resulting in airplane crashes.’ …”

* Reminiscent of the Johnstown, PA flood book by David McCullough and the PBS documentary based on it

[I could not find a reference online or in my own archives to the pronouncement by McCullough narrating the film, but it is relevant here.]

What happens when a logic bomb escapes the lab?

What happens when one of the people comes to deeply understand the ramifications of the work going on inside one of these secretive offices or schools and gets a conscience? WIll be or she be defenestrated?

Who will write the new novels about the new Dresden and the new Hiroshimae?

Wasn’t Fukushima one of these?

Will we see oligarchs hiring computer hackers to create chaos out of which they can create future wealth, like the hurricane in New Orleans or the actions of some driving cultural chaos in Europe?

Will we see bloggers writing satirical pieces about waking up in a world of moral midgets?

Will we see position papers developed by groups of medical care responders, teachers, and others from under the umbrella of “Citizens for Social Grace”?

Will the people who write those position papers be fired from, and blacklisted away from, meaningful employment?

Is there a Malthusian, Luciferian angle to this?

“Several Islamic State-affiliated accounts shared on social media images of weapons and blessings towards its members hours before the Paris attacks, media reported.

According to the Fox News television channel’s Sunday report, four credible ISIL accounts shared messages such as “God bless you in your mission” and “Support the deployment” just 72 hours before the Paris attacks. The accounts also shared images of weapons and the Eiffel Tower…..”

“… The final goal should be to become so immune to mainstream media lies that the next time you hear of a new false flag attack you will no longer react to them at all. Our goal is to find that mental place where mainstream media lies can’t penetrate, leaving you completely unaffected. Once you truly reconcile this mindset you can then help others truly awaken to this new level of human awakening and almost divine power. Complete insensitivity to mainstream media is a worst-case scenario for the controllers. So, if you have arrived at this level, realize that you are the embodiment of the solution. Now share this information with the world.”

“… the suspects went in through the roof.

The missing weapons were entered into a national database, and federal, state and local police have all been alerted, said Kristen Setera, a spokeswoman for the FBI…..”

Within one hour of the Paris attacks and without any evidence, the story was set in stone that the perpetrator was ISIL. This is the way propagada works.

When the West does it, it always succeeds, because the world is accustomed to following the lead of the West. I was amazed to see, for example, Russian news services helping to spread the official story of the Paris attacks despite Russia herself having suffered so often from planted false stories.

Has the Russian media forgotten MH-17? The minute the story was reported that the Malaysian airliner was hit by a Russian missile over eastern Ukraine in the hands of separatists, the blame was ascribed to Russia. And that is where the blame remains despite the absence of evidence.

Has the Russian media also forgotten the “Russian invasion of Ukraine”? This preposterous story is accepted everywhere in the West as gospel.

Has the Russian media forgot about the book by the German newspaper editor who wrote that every European journalist of consequence was an asset of the CIA?

One would have thought that experience would have taught Russian media sources to be careful about explanations that originate in the West.

So now we have what is likely to be another false story set in stone. Just as a few Saudis with box cutters outwitted the entire US national security state, ISIL managed to acquire unacquirable weapons and outwit French intelligence while organizing a series of attacks in Paris.

Why did ISIL do this? Blowback for France’s small role in Washington’s Middle East violence?

Why not the US instead?

Or was ISIL’s purpose to have the flow of refugees into Europe blocked by closed borders? Does ISIL really want to keep all of its opponents in Syria and Iraq when instead it can drive them out to Europe? Why have to kill or control millions of people by preventing their flight?

Don’t expect any explanations or questions from the media about the story that is set in stone.

The threat to the European political establishment is not ISIL. The threats are the rising anti-EU, anti-immigrant political parties: Pegida in Germany, the UK Independence Party, and the National Front in France. The latest poll shows the National Front’s Marine Le Pen leading as the likely French president.

Something had to be done about the hords of refugees from Washington’s wars, or the establishment political parties faced defeat at the hands of political parties that are also unfriendly to Europe’s subservience to Washington.

EU rules about refugees and immigrants and Germany’s acceptance of one million of the refugees, together with heavy criticism of those governments in Eastern Europe that wanted to put up fences to keep out the refugees, made closing borders impossible.

With the Paris terror attacks, what was impossible became possible, and the President of France immediately announced the closing of France’s borders. The border closings will spread. The main issue of the rising dissident political parties will be defused. The EU will be safe, and so will Washington’s sovereignty over Europe. [But, Dr. Roberts, what about the fact that ISIS/ISIL is deeply connected to Washington, and that the NGO’s and Sorosian influences arre in theory the engineers of the refugee crisis?]

Whether or not the Paris attacks were a false flag operation for the purpose of obtaining these results, these results are the consequences of the attacks. These results serve the interests of the European political establishment and Washington.

Is ISIL so unsophisticated not to have realized that? If ISIL is that unsophisticated, how did ISIL so easily deceive French intelligence? [Ed.: See below. ] Indeed, can French intelligence be intelligent?

Can Western peoples be intelligent to fall for a story set in stone prior to any evidence? In the West, facts are created by self-serving statements from governments. Investigation is not part of the process. When 90 percent of the US media is owned by six mega-corporations, it cannot be any different.

As The Matrix grows in the absurdity of its claims, it nevertheless manages to become even more invulnerable.

“Talmudism, Imperialism, Terrorism”:

“Jewish Zionism, Christian Zionism and Muslim Takfirism (or Muslim Zionism) – all have been allowed by the world at large, willingly or otherwise, to flourish especially over the past seven decades – since the forced establishment of the state of Israel, to be more precise. Yes, people in the Middle East and in America were always religious folk, but they were not so radicalized and liberally, openly practicing religious prejudice the way they are nowadays. It would seem to be the case that the immoral creation of the state of Israel revived with it the decrepit Talmudic desert superstitions and narcissistic tribalism that have directly led to the violence and terrorism we are witnessing today. Talmudism is now in its most dangerous state: it has evolved from a hapless fringe sub sect and into a powerful and destructive military instrument hellbent on creating the darkest of shackles for humanity. Hellbent on ‘cleansing’ the world from its (complex) sins – purging the stains of humanity through merciless fire.” [Ed.: Emphasis added]

“Hell Comes to Paris”:

“Allowing for a moment the idea that the Assad government was the main cause of the Syrian conflict when it began in 2011, in 2015 the same government is without any shadow a necessary part of it ending with Syria’s survival. Barrel bombs are an atrociously indiscriminate weapon, for sure, and their use rightly comes under the category of war crime. However just as the war crime of the allied firebombing of Dresden in 1945 did not invalidate the war against European fascism then, neither does the atrocity of Syrian barrel bombs invalidate the war against its Middle East equivalent today. When the survival of a country and its culture and history is at stake, war can never be anything else but ugly, which is why the sooner it is brought to a conclusion in Syria the better.”

Tweet (Maryam Namazie) (note that the pure joy of returning to a de-terrorized home is never mentioned in the Jew-controlled media):

“After liberation, a female peshmarga destroys ISIS signboard ordering women to cover themselves with a niqab.”

It is curious that while World Jewry, as always, screams and wails for war, the American government is quietly cooperating with Putin’s plan. “Putin Plan: The Russian President’s Strategy for Syria” “Putin to pursue sponsors of terrorism” The Americans are at least pretending to cooperate diplomatically, and are assisting the Kurds to de-terrorize Syrian Kurdistan (vitally important to the total de-terrorizing plan as the Americans block Turkey), while the Russians help the Syrian army de-terrorize the rest of the country.

“The outcome is a virtual statistical impossibility. But it fits a pattern that has made Ohio elections infamous since the 2004 “selection” of George W. Bush over John Kerry.

As in 2004, this year’s balloting was supervised by a Secretary of State with a heavy partisan stake in the outcome.

In 2004, the presidential voting was supervised by J. Kenneth Blackwell, who simultaneously served as the co-chair of Ohio’s Committee to Re-Elect Bush and Cheney.

In 2015, the general voting was supervised by Jon Husted, who vehemently opposed pot legalization and threatened legal action against the sponsors of the referendum.

In both 2004 and 2015, the vast majority of votes were cast on electronic machines owned by private corporations, with proprietary software. When a federal judge mandated a recount in a class action suit in 2004, 56 of Ohio’s 88 counties failed to produce the required documentation. No recount was ever conducted. (disclosure: Bob was a lead attorney and Harvey a plaintiff in that federal lawsuit).

This year many registrations in the state were compiled on electronic polling books. In Cincinnati, the poll books “broke down” and citizens were denied the ability to vote. Husted provided no provisional ballots or other means by which potential voters could have cast ballots until the machines were fixed. Most were told to “come back later.”

It is unclear if the sponsors of the referendum will demand a recount. There are no easily available public means to monitor or verify the poll books or the final electronic tally in Ohio.”

Hilarious, from April 22, 2013: “EU lifts Syria oil embargo to bolster rebels”. The only group exploiting that oil is ISIS (and it remains the fact that the only country to try to interrupt the ISIS oil business is Russia). I have no idea why all Europeans aren’t locking their politicians into legislative buildings, and burning the buildings down.

I suppose we should be happy that the French response so far is an increase in its campaign of pretending to attack ISIS. There must be excellent communications between ISIS commanders and the bombers of the Zio-American alliance for so many bombs to hit so few ISIS positions! The answer: ” . . . after coordination with U.S. defense officials who helped with the targeting“.

But, in practice, they did nothing of the sort. When Isis forces attacked Palmyra in eastern Syria in May, the US did not launch air strikes against it because the city was defended by the Syrian army and Washington was frightened of being accused of keeping President Bashar al-Assad in power.

In effect, the US handed Isis a military advantage which it promptly used to seize Palmyra, behead captured Syrian soldiers and blow up the ancient ruins.”

The spectacle of Erdoğan complaining about the terrorism he sponsors is one of the simple joys of our time.

It is striking how often people comment that a ‘terrorist’ became ‘radicalized’ so quickly. Doesn’t that occur when the paychecks from the western intelligence agency start arriving? [Magnifique!]

Never forget that the only reason for this bizarre charade, including the attack on Paris, is so Jews can steal the Golan Heights and south Lebanon. It is a funny goal to put so much effort and corpses into. “Why has Israel Embraced Al-Qaida’s Branch in Syria?”

“Some thoughts on Paris, Article 5 and jihadism” Sensible, except for sending the refugees back (impossible without a massive humanitarian catastrophe, and their presence will be a useful reminder to Europe). Tweet (Sana Saeed):

Contained the same data

“Serbian police detained another man whose passport “contained the same data”, AFP reported Monday.”

Two extant passports with the same data means at least one of them is fake. Probably both.

“Our reporter was able to buy a Syrian passport, identity card and driving licence from a fraudster in a Turkish border town this week.

The genuine documents were stolen from Syria when they were blank. The forger added our reporter’s picture and gave him the identity of a Syrian man from Aleppo killed last year.”

“The forger explained that the militias fighting the forces of Assad make a beeline for government offices when they over-run a town. They know the value of the documents there and steal the passports, papers and even the printers that are used to create identity cards and driving licences.”

As it plans its response to a series of six terrorist attacks Friday night that killed 127 and injured 180, the government of France will likely step up its efforts to keep tabs on the movements and communications of people within its borders.

As it happens, the attacks have occurred only a few months after legislators in that country passed a sweeping new surveillance law that gives the government broad powers to closely monitor the mobile phone and Internet communications of French citizens.

Passed by the French Parliament in May in response to the attacks on the Paris-based magazine Charlie Hebdo, the law allows government to monitor phone calls and emails of people suspected of connections to terrorism without the authorization of a judge.

But it goes further than that. The law requires Internet service providers to install “black boxes” that are designed to vacuum up and analyze metadata on the Web-browsing and general Internet use habits of millions of people using the Web, and to make the data available to intelligence agencies.

In exceptional cases, the law allows the government to deploy what are called “ISMI catchers” to track all mobile phone communications in a given area. These catchers are basically designed to impersonate cell towers, but they intercept and record communications data from phones within its range, and can also track the movements of people carrying the phones.

Finally, the law allows government agents to break into the homes of suspected terrorists for the purpose of planting microphone bugs, surveillance cameras, and to install keyloggers on their computers, devices that capture data on every keystroke and mouse click.

Critics of the law complain that there’s not much oversight and that the conditions under which the laws powers can be triggered are vague. As The Verge noted in July, the government can authorize the surveillance for “major foreign policy interests” or to counter “organized delinquency.”

Surveillance operations are overseen by a nine-person committee led by Prime Minister Manuel Vallas. But that committee has only an advisory role, and cannot overrule decisions by the prime minister.

FBI Stymied By Islamic State’s Use of Encryption, Director Says
Law-enforcement officials seek greater access to encrypted communication

Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey, speaking at an event Monday in New Haven, Conn., discussed the difficulties of Islamic State’s use of encrypted platforms during a cybersecurity conference Wednesday in New York. Photo: Associated Press

Nov. 18, 2015 12:09 p.m. ET

The director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation said investigators have been stymied by Islamic State’s use of encryption.

FBI Director James Comey, speaking at a cybersecurity conference Wednesday at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, said the bureau has tracked Islamic State recruiting efforts on Twitter and reviewed private messages between sympathizers after obtaining court orders.

But when Islamic State commanders find a recruit willing to die for the cause, they move their communications over to encrypted platforms, “going dark,” he said.

Mr. Comey didn’t say whether the encryption was used in planning or executing the Paris attacks, but the massacre loomed large at the conference, which included law-enforcement officials from the U.S., U.K. and France.

His remarks were part of a public campaign by law-enforcement and intelligence officials for access to encrypted phones and communications, in the face of new software and devices promoted by companies as impervious to government surveillance.

The aftermath of the Paris attacks could bolster the argument in favor of such access after years of movement toward more customer privacy, fueled by revelations of U.S. surveillance programs.

U.S. counterterrorism officials haven’t determined whether terrorists used encrypted communications to plan or execute the Paris attacks, but they said they expect evidence to emerge as the investigation continues.

Sen. Richard Burr (R., N.C.), chairman of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee, said after a briefing by senior intelligence officials Tuesday that the terrorists involved in the Paris attacks likely used “end-to-end” encryption. He said encryption was likely because no direct communication among the terrorists was detected.

Islamic State, which claimed credit for the bloodshed, has demonstrated its technological savvy in tutorials for sympathizers on how to evade electronic surveillance on the cheap, including an eight-minute video explaining the eavesdropping capabilities of hostile governments and how they track phones.

Other Islamic State bulletins have analyzed the vulnerabilities of brands of electronic equipment and messaging applications, ranking them based on their ability to foil surveillance.

In separate remarks Wednesday, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.. said his office has been unable to access evidence on encrypted phones in 111 cases handled by his office. Newer operating systems on phones made by Apple Inc. and Google can’t be unlocked without the user passcode, even by the companies themselves.

Mr. Vance called for legislation that would mandate that mobile-phone companies have the capacity to unlock a customer device when presented with a search warrant. “We don’t want a ke

Traces of explosives have been found in the debris of the passenger jet that crashed in Egypt last month, the Kremlin announced on Tuesday as it unveiled a $50 million reward in the case.

Alexander Bortnikov, the chief of the country’s FSB domestic security agency, said that a bomb equivalent to 2.2 pounds of TNT exploded on board the aircraft, according to the Kremlin.

“You can definitely say that this is a terrorist act,” Bortnikov told a meeting of Russia’s Security Council on Monday.

The FSB, which is the successor to the KGB, also offered the $50 million reward for information on who brought down the jet.

Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed to hunt the perpetrators, saying that “we will find them anywhere on the globe, and punish them.”

According to information obtained by LifeNews, the security services have reason to suspect that the explosive device aboard the A321 was placed by an employee of the airport of Sharm El-Sheikh, who had settled there earlier. According to sources, the suspect in the bombing was in the airport of Sharm El-Sheikh loading passengers’ luggage. That’s why he was able to freely smuggle a bomb on Board.

“… . it would appear that the final showdown is upon us….a fight to the death between sanity and insanity. Humanity has come down to this. IMO, some long hidden cards…up until now kept very close to the chest…are going to have to be laid upon the table. By this, I’m referring to the schism in the US government, CIA and Pentagon…between the “black hats” and the “white hats.”

Double games

“Syrians in Raqqa tell of ‘insane nights’ of air strikes” (my emphasis in red):

“. . . a media activist in Raqqa, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Al Jazeera on Tuesday that French air strikes had targeted abandoned ISIL bases in the suburbs of the city where there are no civilians or ISIL fighters.

“It has been two insane nights. Abandoned ISIL posts were targeted at the entrance of the city, along with ISIL checkpoints and several other points. Electricity and water have been cut off as supply lines were hit too.

“We can confirm that there were no civilians killed or injured in the latest French air strikes.

“People are horrified and everyone here lives in fear. We are sure that several ISIL fighters at the checkpoints were killed in the air strikes.””

World-class American ‘targeting’. Busy-work by the French, trying to appear to be fighting terror while scrupulously avoiding doing so. If the terror continues (and these was another big real threat today), I imagine even Europeans will eventually start to complain about this Zio-shit.

“Lavrov on the dangerous and double game of the US in Syria”:

“The US brought a “dangerous and two-thought game” to Syria, trying at one and the same time to fight the tabu “Islamic state” and yet to use it against President Bashar Assad. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov laid out this view in an on television channel “Russia 1.”

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs, the United States acted in Syria selectively and did not touch those terrorist units, which could cause damage to the government troops.

“The blows delivered to the terrorists, with analysis of these strikes for more than a year, lead to the conclusion that the hits were done selectively, I would say, more gently, and in most cases did not touch those ISIL units, which could seriously oppose the Syrian army. This is a rather dangerous and certainly double game, one not giving a representation of what the US wants,” said Lavrov.”

Given all the bribery and blackmail which is effectively protecting the terrorists, there will have to be real pressure put on the corrupt politicians like Hollande to actually do what they say they are doing. Otherwise a lot more people are going to die. I imagine if people stop going to all the places that politicians have left unprotected, like sports venues, performance venues, and restaurants, something may eventually be done. Until the charade stops, and terrorism is actually combated (which will, amongst other things, involve full and unqualified support for Assad, and real, not phony, attacks on ISIS), terror will continue.

http://12160.info/video/fake-al-qaeda-actors-exposed [Mike Rivero, video, 3:44]

Immediately after the Paris Attacks on Friday Nov. 13th, French authorities and mainstream media wasted no time in expediting the crucial talking point that a Syrian passport was found either on, or near, the body of one of the alleged suicide bombers outside the Stade de France sporting arena in Paris.

This begged the obvious question: why would supposed suicide bombers all pack their passports with them on a one-way jihad?

Public suspicion immediate went viral on social media, as people pointed out how this anomaly directly mirrored similar false flag stunts on 9/11 in 2001, with MH17 in 2014, and with Charlie Hebdo last January.

This seemed to force the mainstream media to pivot, as they ‘walked back’ the Syrian passport leg of their story and take rear guard action before the public copped on to what was likely a planted set-piece at the scene of the crime. At this point, the mainstream choir suddenly U-turned and claimed in unison, that the Syrian passport was indeed a ‘fake’ – but even then, the mainstream media still stood by the assertion that the alleged suicide bomber had sneaked into Europe from Syria undercover the west’s cleverly engineered ‘Migrant Crisis’ in Europe.

If the passport(s) is indeed fake, then how could police be certain that the passport’s carrier was the same as the passport’s legitimate owner? How can they be sure the ‘fake’ passports were not planted at the scene, or did not belong to someone else, a bystander for example? Could the crime scene have been tampered with before or after the event? Interesting questions, and ones which have already netted a number of creative and improbable theories by authorities and their media operatives. Most importantly, the lack of real evidence in this case pretty much destroys the fabricated talking point which fuses together this ‘ISIS terrorist’ event together with the ‘Migrant Crisis’.

If we are to truly believe authorities again, then maybe we are underestimating the true value of these indestructible travel documents. We could be missing out on one of mankind’s greatest, most strongest ever material designs.

[Ed.: Abel Danger has posted and apparently agrees with the conclusion reached by Jim Stone, thus suggesting to some degree that the two are in cahoots, or at least bringing both sites more into the public eye and thus lending each some credibility. I have found them interesting to watch, Abel Danger being more new to me; I find some of their work to be somewhat obtuse, using terms and semantics the reader must dig deeply to understand. Nevertheless, there appears to be some “there” there. Stone I find curious and somewhat off the wall from time to time, but much of his stuff is eminently plausible or at least consistent and coherent with other presentations, but occasionally he lapses into a string of lingo that is vaguley reminiscent of older online persona who have since been relegated to the “disinfo” pile. (Sorcha Faal (“Such a Fool”) comes to mind but it might have been someone else.) Danger and Stone could be having a race to see how far out there they can get, to which we might add others. Myself, I think it never hurts to peek, listen or read, and the degree to which they appear to be “out there” may only be a reflection of the degree to which mainstream media, education and the entirely-engineered system since time immemorial has prevented, censored, obscured and denied. Stone at least has unearthed this FBI tidbit on Joshua Ryne Goldberg.

There is a mini-industry of people purporting to be expert insiders who by virtue of their knowledge, skill, access, etc. can lead us to truth. I once made a comment at Jim Stone’s site — never published, that I am aware of — asking him to post his bona fides (Abel Danger’s are readily available, and accepted in some quarters). Benjamin Fulford equally lurks, trending to credibility, a point made in Greencrow’s recent rant #14 in which she re-vamped her own blogroll for the credibility factor.

[As an aside, I am pleased to note that I made the cut (thanks, Greencrow) and I’ve been a reader since the late great Kenny welcomed her to his neighborhood. Check out thesullenbell.com too…]

I’ve noted the need, and begun without much success, to reach out and establish a “virtual tertulliana” (borrowing on Gabriel Garcia Marquez), wanting more interaction for the express purpose of learning from each other how to keep the waves of voices in the global cacophony properly catalogued. But I’ve digressed…

The remnant from Paris was the picture “of the scene at the Bataclan – and that picture was obviously, from the dryness of the blood, taken at least two hours after the shooting. Two hours after the shooting, the place should be flooded with EMTs and police – yet the entire shooting scene is devoid of people.” You can find these references, echoed by others.

Without getting into an argument with anyone about the specifics, I’ll demur on judgment. I find it somewhat silly — however sharpened or heightened we think our critical thinking, astute skills at observation, or technical relevant skills are — to jump into the fray and think that, like the team of responders from the Internet movie NWO: CSI, we can ascertain critical crime scene truths from a scene thousands of miles away in a different culture, different police/response system , different political system, etc. I’ve done enough research to know a little something about perceptions, silo thinking, et alia. Maybe Jim Stone and Abel Danger are that adept. I know I’m not. It’s one piece of evidence. And I know I ought to be careful when postulating about something that is seen through the distorted lenses of TV news, massed cognitive infilitration, and innumerable layered biases and world-views. Nor am I ready to discern the inner thoughts of Vladimir Putin and the reality of his world-view. I’m 67, and I am still learning.

I’m something of a veteran of this whole old game of watching “ops” and SCADs and reading about them. I’m old. I’ve learned incrementally. I was 15 when Jacqueline’s pink dress was smeared with Jack’s blood. It was years and years later when I discovered that Vincent Salandria had the proper perspective almost immediately on how to decode Dealey Plaza.

What I’ve learned in the many years are that the people who are the “perps” are very very advanced at magical mysteries, at making things appear what they are not, at planting disinformational seedlings, at covering their tracks. Our society is still celebrating and protecting them, for God’s sake, so to think that we have solved the problem within days by examining a photo is perhaps the height of cheeky audaciousness. There are some who are very good at this art, and perhaps these three guys are well up on the list. But the opposition works and thinks in terms of extended time. Perhaps we should too, by teaching, archiving, articulating, and enhancing our skills.

Just below, Joaachim Hagopian at EmpireExposed adds a whole lot more evience, pulling on Stone’s revelations about Nohemi Gonzalez, pointing out a not-so-obvious-but-observable fact about the drummer in the concert band, and adding some juicy tidbits about Facebook and Wikipedia. ]

“Police believe attackers used forged passports to stigmatize refugees” Stigmatize? It is funny how a false-flag concept finds its way into a mainstream headline. It appears the operation was entirely Europe-based. “Syrian Passport May Have Been Planted To Implicate Refugees, Says German Minister” Either a French intelligence agency connected to modern European fascism, or a real Islamist terrorist organization, has motive to remind Europeans of the danger of terrorists arriving as refugees. In a way, discussion of false flag is irrelevant, as there is no moral or practical difference between the intelligence agencies and the Islamists; they are all terrorists with differing motives. Al Jazeera reported that it had received a recording asserting that a local militant group, Al Mourabitoun, had carried out the siege in conjunction with Al Qaeda’s regional affiliate, though the claim could not be independently confirmed.

The Site Intelligence Group , which monitors extremist activist online, said it had seen no official claims of responsibility. But Rita Katz, the organization’s director, wrote on Twitter that Qaeda supporters had been praising the attack, quoting one who said that the Islamic State “should learn a thing or two.”

Kamissoko Lassine, the chief pastry chef of the Radisson Blu hotel in Bamako, said that two armed men arrived at the hotel between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

“They were driving a vehicle with diplomatic plates ,” he said. “You know how easy that is at the hotel? The guards just lifted the barrier.”

“They opened fire and wounded the guard at the front,” said Mr. Lassine, who said he was able to slip out a back door and make it home safely. “They took the hotel hostage and moved people into a big hall.”

“… The secret of whom the U.S. military is fighting extends to Africa. Since 9/11, U.S. military efforts on the continent have grown in every conceivable way, from funding and manpower to missions and outposts, while at the same time the number of transnational terror groups has increased in linear fashion, according to the military. The reasons for this are murky. Is it a spillover from events in the Middle East and Central Asia? Are U.S. operations helping to spawn and spread terror groups? Is the Pentagon inflating the terror threat for its own gain? Is the rise of these terrorist organizations due to myriad local factors? Or more likely, is it a combination of these and other reasons? The task of answering these questions is made more difficult when no one in the military is willing to name more than a handful of the transnational terror groups that are classified as America’s enemies.”

“The U.S. has also carried out a shadow war of special ops raids , drone strikes and other attacks, as well as an expanding number of training missions by elite forces. U.S. special operations teams are now deployed to 23 African countries “seven days a week, 24/7,” according to Bolduc. “The most effective thing that we do is about 1,400 SOF operators and supporters integrated with our partner nation, integrated with our allies and other coalition partners in a way that allows us to take advantage of each other’s capabilities,” he said.

The U.S. military has also set up an network of bases — although it is loath to refer to them in such terms. A recent report by The Intercept, relying on classified documents leaked by a whistleblower, detailed an archipelago of outposts integral to a secret drone assassination program that was based at the premier U.S. facility on the African continent, Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti. That base alone has expanded since 2002 from 88 acres to nearly 600 acres, with more than $600 million allocated or awarded for projects and $1.2 billion in construction and improvements planned for the future….”

“… Ten gunmen stormed the Radisson Blu hotel at 7 a.m. local (2 a.m. EDT) shouting “Allahu Akbar,” firing on hotel guards, and reportedly lobbing grenades before proceeding “through the building, room by room and floor by floor,” Reuters reports, adding, “Some hostages escaped under their own steam while others were freed after showing they could recite verses from the Koran.” Witnesses also reported the attackers spoke English to one another saying, “Did you load it? Let’s go.” …

Carl Jung: OSS Spy #488, 1942-1945
Iona Miller, (c)2015, Illustration by Iona Miller

In Allen Dulles: Master of Spies (1999), James Scrodes mentions his professional and personal involvement with Swiss psychologist Carl Jung. Deidre Bair reported further on Jung's covert affairs as Office of Strategic Services (OSS) Agent #488 in Jung, a Biography (2003).

During WWII, Carl Jung was recruited by Allen Dulles, through OSS spy Mary Bancroft, to provide strategic psychological profiles on Hitler, Mussolini, and the German psyche for the Allies. She published her Autobiography of a Spy in 1983.

Dulles, who ran the proto-CIA, met on several occasions with Jung, who provided valuable insight into the workings of Hitler's mind. They shared other interests and knew personal secrets about one another. Jung may have sparked an interest in ESP, handwriting analysis and psychic drugs in Dulles, even UFOs.

Jung was an architect of a dynamic model of the psyche that helped him frame actors and potential outcomes. His psychological intuitions and nationalistic heuristics and unique ability to assess HUMINT (human intelligence sources and reports) were useful to the espionage establishment. Human nature is crucial to running assets.

Raw HUMINT has to be process for the intelligence community and battlefield. HUMINT is essential preparation for working in and on cultures as well as character studies and differentiation of subject types for selecting potential sources. Social sciences are critical to cultural intelligence.

Who knows how much crucial information Jung may have imparted to Dulles in their casual talks? Rapport, defenses, and projection are a few of Jung's subjects that may have helped structure modern tradecraft, agent operation and propaganda. Powerful information is created by knowing which archetypes are in play and the primal responses they generate in the targets.

HUMINT has shaped foreign policy decisions throughout history, so insight on how humans operate is useful in recruiting, interviewing, interrogating and debriefing, as well as assessing authenticity, intentions and motivations. General Eisenhower read Jung's report before the final invasion of Germany, when Hitler's machinations, delusional systems, and paranoia were driven by a cocktail of mindbending drugs. Jung successfully predicted that Hitler would kill himself. Jung's profiles of Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini are in C.G. Jung Speaking, Bollingen Press (1978).

We can use Jung's method to free associate about the meaning of Agent 488: Conspiracy-minded qabalists and symbologists might note the Jewish gematria of 488 includes "Truth," "The Mark of the Beast," and "The Great Dragon," "Serpent's Head," "Satan Speaks," "Lord is rising," "Time to break free," "Ancient Bloodlines." It also implies "to open, to throw open, to untie, to loosen or opening, entrance, doorway, gate, portal," etc. All that makes some symbolic sense in relation to Jung's advocacy of the nature of the Collective Unconscious. He certainly opened that portal to the vast Unknown conceptually and experientially, with all its gods, ghosts, spirits and devils.

Curiously, the #55 assigned to Dulles reads, "Everything Comes from The One" which it certainly did in OSS/CIA. It is also the number of the Elohim, the endtime Elijah, called Elias for those with a biblical view. Adding them yields 543, curiously the number for I AM THAT I AM. The less psychological could see the hand of God at work. Naturally, such ruminations might turn your brain to hyperdimensional jello.

Rather than gathering clandestine information, Jung was a profiler, debriefer, and analyst producing assessments of foreign leaders (motivations, capability, plans, and intentions) and political situations for policy makers, targeting opportunities for intelligence operations. Today that would be called Counterterrorism. Bair also reveals that one of Hitler's doctors entreated Jung to observe Hitler in Germany to declare him insane, so he could be ousted by opponents.

Framing Jung

If we "profile the profiler," we find visionaries and spies share some of the same traits that ultimately mold worldviews and events. Jung's introverted thinking and intuition somehow mirrored that of Dulles's powers of observation and analysis. Both mercurial personalities shared the Promethean temperament and were adept at prognostication, quick and accurate anecdotal evidence and network analysis with fast rational solutions to manipulate and define the perceived reality. Both worked sub rosa, beneath the veil of professional confidentiality and realized the occult, or at least belief in the occult, was one key to world events.

Both opportunistic tricksters enjoyed building systems and theoretical frameworks, including vulnerabilities and risk management. "Keying" a strip of activity facilitates its transformation into another pattern. "Fabrication" supports the intentional exploration of scenarios with specific outcomes to manage activity and induce false beliefs about what is going on. There are "benign" and "exploitative" frames in espionage and psychopathic manipulation. By its very nature, espionage creates real and fabricated frames. "Keyed frames" are subject to failure through perceptual errors, intervening natural events, and ambiguity. If the deceived discover the frame they may reorganize their covert activity. The expanded threat frame leads to countermeasure -- counterintelligence.

A frame describes the principles of organizations that govern events and our subjective involvement in them against the spatial and temporal field. Framing, an operational theory, is essential to analysis, as political framing is to espionage. One social framework can transform into others. You must to have a grasp of the threat landscape to frame the right questions. Framed strips of activity feed into tracks or channels of a main story at the center of the frame. Subordinate paths include concealed, overlaid and overlooked lines. Frame analysis can also be viewed as concentric layers, like an onion skin -- a metaphor Jung employed to describe the depths of the psyche.

According to Bair, when Allen Dulles entered Switzerland in November 1942 he was secretly working as an “advance man” for the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in Switzerland. (Dulles would later head the CIA.) “For some time, Jung became Dulles’s ‘sort of senior advisor on a weekly, if not almost daily, basis.’” The following year, “Jung became ‘Agent 488’ in Dulles’s reports to OSS offices in Washington and London, and 488’s dispatches were considered fact and figured prominently in the agency’s operational policies.” Dulles said Jung “[understood] the characteristics of the sinister leaders of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. His judgment on these leaders and on their likely reactions to passing events was of real help to me in gauging the political situation. His deep antipathy to what Nazism and Fascism stood for was clearly evidenced in these conversations.” In fact, Jung constructed the first in-depth psychological profiles of political enemies such as Hitler. “By 1945 […] Jung’s views on how best to get [German] civilians to accept defeat were being read by the Supreme Allied Commander, General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Jung’s analysis of Nazi propaganda was that it tried ‘to hollow out a moral hole with the hope of eventual collapse.’” Ibid., pp. 492-494. http://www.tygersofwrath.com/00jung2001review.htm

During World War II, Allen returned to the Bern embassy, putting his mistress's psychoanalyst, Carl Jung, to work for the Allied cause, recruiting a senior official of the German foreign office, tapping into the ill-fated conspiracy to kill Hitler, and playing a part in the surrender of the Nazi armies in Italy.

Mary Bancroft (October 29, 1903, Boston - January 10, 1997, New York City) was an American novelist and spy and a member of the Bancroft family, which at one time owned Dow Jones & Company. In 1942, while living in Switzerland, Bancroft was recruited by the Office of Strategic Services, and both worked and had a romantic relationship with Allen Dulles. Her most important work was with Hans Bernd Gisevius, a German military intelligence officer who supplied her with details of the 20 July plot to assassinate Hitler. After the war, Bancroft settled in New York and became a novelist. She moved to Zurich, Switzerland in 1934, where she learned excellent French and German, and became a close friend and student of Carl Jung, who cured her of chronic attacks of sneezing.

Bancroft, despite appearing to be exceptionally extroverted, suffered silently from asthma and violent sneezing fits. She suspected they were psychosomatic and brought on by emotional turmoil. She sought out the celebrated psychologist Carl Jung, who cured her through analysis and became a lifelong friend. Her relationship with Jung was summarized in her New York Times obituary: "To Jung … her appeal was textbook obvious. In his scheme of things she was an extroverted intuitive, one who had experienced such fierce inter-family battles for her affections as a child that power had become her natural element. She had such an instinctive knack for wielding it, [Jung] told her, that men seeking or holding power would cherish her advice, as indeed they did." The list of Bancroft's male consorts over time included film director Woody Allen, Time, Inc. CEO Henry R. Luce, and Allen Dulles, who laid the foundations of what would become known as the Central Intelligence Agency. Bancroft's interactions with Jung fostered a lifelong interest in psychology, and she often lectured on Jung and others in his field when she had the chance. She also became a trustee of the Jung Foundation in New York after his death, and a contributing editor and writer for Psychological Perspectives , a Jungian academic journal.

Socialite Mary Bancroft is the pivot in a Swiss intelligence menage a trois between her two father figure-lovers, Berne-O.S.S. station chief Allen Dulles, and her therapist, Carl Jung. Dulles once impatiently told Mary, “I don’t want to go down in history as a footnote to a case of Jung’s!” In 1944-45, Henry Hyde took four trips to see Allen Dulles in Switzerland to loan Dulles, a POW Czech radio operator named Wally, for Operation Sunrise. On one of these trips, Hyde traveled from Lyon to just inside the Swiss border where he was met by car by Mary Bancroft. Mary got out of the car; kissed Henri on both cheeks, and drove off in another car with a man. Hyde drove Mary’s car to the Geneva Airport, picked up Paul Mellon (O.S.S.-MO) who had just flown in from England. Hyde drove Mellon to a beautiful old hotel overlooking Lausanne where Jung was waiting for him upstairs in a hotel room. Mellon's mission was to hear Jung's psychoanalysis of Hitler's mind and the German collective unconscious. Hyde waited for Mellon in the hotel lobby, then drove Mellon back after his meeting with Jung. Paul and Mary Mellon had been patients of Jung’s since 1938. Mellon wanted to see Jung again during the war; family therapy revisited. Paul and Mary, husband-wife patients of Jung, had raved to their brother-in-law OSS Station Chief London, David Bruce, who had married Paul’s sister Aisle, about Jungian psychoanalysis."

CIA: Undermining and Nazifying Ukraine Since 1953
by Wayne Madsen

The recent declassification of over 3800 documents by the Central Intelligence Agency provides detailed proof that since 1953 the CIA operated two major programs intent on not only destabilizing Ukraine but Nazifying it with followers of the World War II Ukrainian Nazi leader Stepan Bandera.
Voltaire Network | 14 January 2016

The CIA programs spanned some four decades. Starting as a paramilitary operation that provided funding and equipment for such anti-Soviet Ukrainian resistance groups as the Ukrainian Supreme Liberation Council (UHVR); its affiliates, the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), all Nazi Banderists. The CIA also provided support to a relatively anti-Bandera faction of the UHVR, the ZP-UHVR, a foreign-based virtual branch of the CIA and British MI-6 intelligence services. The early CIA operation to destabilize Ukraine, using exile Ukrainian agents in the West who were infiltrated into Soviet Ukraine, was codenamed Project AERODYNAMIC.

A formerly TOP SECRET CIA document dated July 13, 1953, provides a description of AERODYNAMIC: «The purpose of Project AERODYNAMIC is to provide for the exploitation and expansion of the anti-Soviet Ukrainian resistance for cold war and hot war purposes. Such groups as the Ukrainian Supreme Council of Liberation (UHVR) and its Ukrainian Insurgent Army (OUN), the Foreign Representation of the Ukrainian Supreme Council of Liberation (ZPUHVR) in Western Europe and the United States, and other organizations such as the OUN/B will be utilized». The CIA admitted in a 1970 formerly SECRET document that it had been in contact with the ZPUHVR since 1950.

The OUN-B was the Bandera faction of the OUN and its neo-Nazi sympathizers are today found embedded in the Ukrainian national government in Kiev and in regional and municipal governments throughout the country.

AERODYNAMIC placed field agents inside Soviet Ukraine who, in turn, established contact with Ukrainian Resistance Movement, particularly SB (intelligence service) agents of the OUN who were already operating inside Ukraine. The CIA arranged for airdrops of communications equipment and other supplies, presumably including arms and ammunition, to the «secret» CIA army in Ukraine. Most of the CIA’s Ukrainian agents received training in West Germany from the US Army’s Foreign Intelligence Political and Psychological (FI-PP) branch. Communications between the CIA agents in Ukraine and their Western handlers were conducted by two-way walkie-talkie (WT), shortwave via international postal channels, and clandestine airborne and overland couriers.

Agents airdropped into Ukraine carried a kit that contained, among other items, a pen gun with tear gas, an arctic sleeping bag, a camp axe, a trenching tool, a pocket knife, a chocolate wafer, a Minox camera and a 35 mm Leica camera, film, a Soviet toiletry kit, a Soviet cap and jacket, a .22 caliber pistol and bullets, and rubber «contraceptives» for ‘waterproofing film’. Other agents were issued radio sets, hand generators, nickel-cadmium batteries, and homing beacons.

An affiliated project under AERODYNAMIC was codenamed CAPACHO.

CIA documents show that AERODYNAMIC continued in operation through the

Pentagon Running Low on Smart Bombs for ISIS Campaign // Marcus Weisgerber

The Pentagon is starting to run low on the smart bombs and guided missiles it has used in the 9,000-plus airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria over the past 18 months, U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Tuesday.

Because of that, President Barack Obama will ask Congress next week to approve $1.8 billion to buy 45,000 new bombs. The spending request is part of $7.5 billion the Pentagon says it will need to bomb ISIS and train Iraqi security forces in 2017.

“This will be critical as our updated coalition military campaign plan takes hold,” Carter said of the request for the Pentagon’s war chest.

The U.S. military also wants a brigade of new troops—as many as 5,000—in Europe, Stars and Stripes‘ Tara Copp reports. “A brigade-size fleet of heavy vehicles and weaponry would also be delivered to storage sites throughout the Continent,” defense officials said….

“This reflects a new situation, where Russia has become a more difficult actor,” a senior administration official told the Times.

Quote Of The Morning: “This is a really big deal, and the Russians are going to have a cow. It’s a huge sign of commitment to deterring Russia, and to strengthening our alliance and our partnership with countries like Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia,” said Evelyn N. Farkas, former top Pentagon official on Russia and Ukraine policy.

For what it’s worth: The new brigade of troops would complement the 65,000 or so already in Europe.

[ “… Is this supposed to scare brother Vladimir into giving the Crimea back to Ukraine? Is brother Vladimir supposed to pull up stakes in Syria and leave Assad to the liver eaters? How many U.S. troops are fighting ISIS? Officials say about 3,650. But the actual count is almost twice that—6,000, writes The Daily Beast‘s Shane Harris and Nancy Youssef. “In reality, there are already about 4,450 U.S. troops in Iraq, plus another nearly 7,000 contractors supporting the American government’s operations. That includes almost 1,100 U.S. citizens working as military contractors, according to the latest Defense Department statistics.”

Bottom line: “The U.S. military presence is larger and growing faster than officials would like to admit.” More here….

Carpet-bombing is not how you defeat ISIS, Pentagon says. The general in charge of fighting the Islamic State dismisses Ted Cruz’s idea, says there’s nothing to gain from an indiscriminate, scorched-earth approach. News Editor Ben Watson has that, here.

Worth noting: “Radio is a powerful medium in Afghanistan, where most people do not have televisions and only 10 percent of the population has access to the Internet. “Towards peace in Syria without armed opposition – Thierry Meyssan/Voltairenet.org”:

“Indeed, at the beginning of the war, the opposition was represented by intellectuals whom the CIA had corrupted during the preceding years, and by the Muslim Brotherhood, who had been working for Langley since at least 1953. This is no longer the case. The intellectuals, who had the capacity to govern, were obliged to leave their place to warlords recruited and financed by Saudi Arabia. But the Saudi kingdom is a tribal régime which accepts only relations of a tribal « lord-vassal » nature. It therefore chose its warlords according to their ethnicity or their tribal origin. After several years, even those who originated from urban families returned to tribal behaviour. By doing so, they are now no longer representative of anyone but the nomads of the Saudi-Syrian desert. As for the Muslim Brotherhood, they were unable to hold on to power in Tunisia and Egypt. Consequently, they are not considered by Washington to be capable of governing a country.

The nomination by Riyadh of a President and a spokesman for the Negotiations Committee chosen among the ex-Ba’athist ministers, was not enough to mask the real presence of tribal warlords.

This, by the way, is one of the lessons of this war – the unnatural alliance of the Western powers and the Saudis has hit a cul-de-sac. What was tolerable for the Saudis in their own country is not so abroad. The expansion of Wahhabism is now causing problems for Europe on its own territory, and the advent of tribalism in the Near East would be a catastrophe for all, since it would mean the « somalisation » of the region. This was without doubt the objective of the Straussians, but it is no longer the goal of President Obama. It can not be stressed strongly enough that modern States are absolutely incompatible with tribal societies, which is what led all modern states to settle their population.”

Ted Cruz Wins Republican Caucuses in Iowa | 02 Feb 2016 | Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, powered by a surge of support from evangelical Christians, dealt a humbling loss to Donald J. Trump in the Iowa caucuses on Monday, throwing into question the depth of support for Mr. Trump’s unconventional candidacy. [Actually, what’s ‘thrown into question’ is the role of Rubio top donor, Microsoft, in ‘counting’ the votes in Iowa.] In the first contest of what so far has been more a populist revolt against the political order than a traditional Republican primary, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida finished a strong third, bolstering his case to consolidate the support of Republicans uneasy about the two top finishers. With 98 percent of precincts reporting, Mr. Cruz had nearly 28 percent of the vote, Mr. Trump 24 percent and Mr. Rubio 23 percent.

Missing precinct scrambles to report Sanders won –Sanders backers called for Iowa Democratic Party officials to release the raw vote totals. | 02 Feb 2016 | Votes from one precinct in Iowa were still missing Tuesday morning, and Democrats from that neighborhood scrambled to find party officials so that they could report their tally: Bernie Sanders won by 2 delegates over Hillary Clinton. With Des Moines precinct No. 42’s results, Clinton’s excruciatingly close lead narrowed further, making the final tally for delegate equivalents in the Democratic Iowa caucuses: Clinton: 699.57; Sanders: 697.77. It quickly raised questions about whether Sanders had won the popular vote in Iowa.

Hillary Clinton declared winner of Iowa caucuses by razor-thin margin –Bernie Sanders wins 85% of voters under 30 and majority of those under 45 | 02 Feb 2016 | Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton has beaten Vermont senator Bernie Sanders in Monday’s Democratic caucuses in Iowa, it was confirmed on Tuesday, taking her first step towards potentially making history as the first female president of the United States. Clinton’s victory was not as triumphant as the once presumptive Democratic nominee might have hoped. Sanders, the self-described socialist senator from Vermont, robbed Clinton of a decisive win heading into next week’s primary in New Hampshire, where he has a strong lead of 18 points. Clinton won 49.86% of the vote, according to the Associated Press, with Sanders on 49.57% – a margin of just 0.29 percentage points.
